Well proper 100% runs at least would have to do the challenges to complete the side quests that require the gold medals. But yea it is a bit disappointing they aren't done here since it doesn't feel like properly clearing an area if you don't actually do the dandori challenges/fights
@@CaptainFlufification They do have categories listed for people to do runs of just the challenges/fights. But I imagine a proper 100% run (which what ice is currently doing isn't, he's just doing minimum day area clears) would do the dandori stuff for the side quests that require it
@@TheGreenDigi I would disagree and say that the Dandori challenges being necessary to clear the area is kind of silly. In every other installment they would have been side modes but strangely in Pikmin 4 they’re used to push the narrative forward. Edit: I should add that you can technically 100% an area with any Dandori ranking, as far as the game is concerned at least. Does the audio get weird around 1:55 for everyone, or just me? It fixes itself around 2:16, so I'm guessing it's a glitch having to do with switching captains at the same time as the yellow onion gets absorbed.
you know, i was wondering if night missions would be good for helping build infrastructure in 2 day areas (since you can take down walls and glow pikmin are immune to hazards), but here we are doing BA in one day. so much for that idea.
The map says 100% for just getting the treasures, rescues, and castaways. There's side missions that are needed for file 100%, such as doing the dandori challenges and building all the structures (cave ones included)
@@GamingEelektross my point is that you are forced to waste 4 days on night missions, 2 of which can be anywhere, so you might as well make use of them
The problem is I did think of that. The ONLY optional bridge for 100% in Sun-soaked Terrace is the shortcut between base 1 and base 2, which will save you 24 materials. Though you can probably avoid the wall to the blue onion if you can get the blue onion to the lower platform so oatchi can grab it. All other stages except the final can be done in 1 day so you can't use the night missions unless the bridges or walls are optional. and you unlock the night missions after Blossoming Arcadia. Alas you must have visited the stage at least once before you can do night missions in it so again you can only use it to skip building a few optional structures. Fortunately Serene Shores has a few optional bridges. so that's a lot of materials saved for later. the final area is the only other one you're forced to do in 2 days because Louie won't unblock the path to the King's cave until you rescue Noelle and she won't wake up until the day ends. that'll make it a little easier for casual 100% minimum day runs, but surprisingly doesn't help as much as it sounds.
@@MarioMastar yea, unfortunately you are locked out of doing things. and it only helps for 100% runs anyway because otherwise you skip all but 4 night missions, for dash, corgwin, bernard, and olimar.
I was pissed off when I tried this and Oatchi couldn't swim yet. I found you out you have to drown him as soon as you can so that he can learn that ability automatically two days later 😂
You have to get Otachi burned, electrocuted, frozen, and wet to buy his immunity items. Bugs me how the game doesn't tell you this as you could literally go the whole game all MLG and find out "Wait...Oatchi can SWIM!?" which would also lock you out of several upgrades. I wonder if he's forced to learn how to swim if you enter serene shores since that's the desingated "Water level"? They also automatically sell you the poison immunity item before you even meet white pikmin as soon as you reach Serene Shores. which is odd as the others have to be unlocked by taking damage.
I tried battling them in the menu vs mode with them having the best handicap and me having the worst and still managed to get 100 points over them in all stages first try. They're REALLY not that good at dandori battles as they very quickly give up on whatever they're doing if you attack them, which is how a level 100 Moss with swallow was bested by a level 5 Oatchi without the swarm ability. Moss died a lot in those battles and I didn't even notice.
I had no idea why you tried to drown Oatchi in day 2 until now 😭😭 Gotta start over, but these are very helpful videos! Kinda wish you showed the best upgrades to get before day 4, tho. Ig I should have known to get the “go here!” upgrade tho, that’s on me
Yeah, you need to burn, freeze, shock, and drown Oatchi when he's still a pup to get access to all the immunities. But you sadly won't be able to afford most of them. From what I can tell you REALLY want the ice and shock immunity so you can break down those gates faster.
I was so looking forward to you completing the Dandoori challenges... I'll be quite saddened if the rest of the run ends up to be exactly this. Gonna have to have many split leaderboards. Any%, All Treasure, 100%. Previously All Treasure *MEANT* 100%...
I'm sure an "All missions run" will cover that once people figure out the best route as the timing is really tight to 100% all these stages in minimum days. However even then I think they might skip some dandori missions to do them later when you buy more upgrades. as thinking about it, the pluckaphone alone can save several seconds, and the speed shoes and a powered up Oatchi to getting platinums minutes faster than doing it the first time when you have nothing. Those minutes could make up for the time taken to fail and get Dingo to complete them. However with the battles there's no way to speed that up so it's a waste of time to skip those. I'm sure they'll come. I'm kind of doing it myself casually to see how feasible minimum day 100% runs are but it's ultra tight, especially if you don't' want to spend hours farming materials by failing the dandori missions like the other guy who attempted this did.
1:30 one time while getting the boat, the wollyhop (wollywog if you aren’t disgusting) tried to squish my Pikmin but instead ended up landing on the boat and then being slid off, therefore none of my Pikmin were killed.
Also this is for research: Does asking Dingo for help effect your % on your file, or just doesn’t mark the challenge as a bronze, silver, gold, or platinum?
Yeah it doesn’t count on your file % unless you finish it with your own skill. The medals on the challenges matter if you are trying to complete the missions that deal with it
It can also be better to do them later either way because you'll have more upgrades which can shave off minutes over doing them when you first encounter them. the Pluckaphone is mostly useful during these missions and you won't lose any days if you're doing min day challenge because of Louie's post game missions.
I see that you built the ramp to exit Sightless Passage. Is 100% structures part of the goal? It is otherwise completely unnecessary to do this, as you keep everything when exiting caves from the menu in this game, and that saves 20 materials.
Well, that's true for treasures in the cave, the problem is that Sightless passage exit is on the cliff in the map so you must take the exit to get 2 treasures in Blossoming Arcadia
You can also farm them easily in the first day with ice pikmin. it's just VERY tedious but freeze the sheergrubs and destroy them and there's a low chance they'll drop spicy sprays. If they don't, rewind time until they do, then exit the cave and repeat. Takes forever in real time but it's good to have a good stock for challenges like this.
I don't think dingo affected the passage of time in game, he just lets you skip the mini game. If you can handle the caves and above ground tasks, you should be good.
Yeah Dingo only saves real time and potential headache down the road. Since you can only do the challenges once in each stage, it may be better to wait until you get better upgrades later and do them then when doing an all missions speed run since the stages end as soon as you turn in the last item and the difference between a maxed out character and where you are in the story can mean minutes saved... at the cost of failing the mission quickly and getting DIngo to do it. which only costs like a minute. it'd lose IRL time with the battles though as no matter how upgraded you are, you can't end those missions until time runs out. Plus it's EASILY possible to get 100+ the opponen't's score with even no upgrades at all. Your pikmin management and harassing Moss are the key to getting that score more than how much Oatchi can carry. Try it in VS mode. it's a fun challenge.
