Your joy is infectious, my dude. I just bought a (US) 2001 Celica GTS off my Dad. No forced induction, just the stock 1.8L 2ZZ-GE engine. He had put an aftermarket intake and exhaust on it giving it giving it now around 200hp. The car's an absolute riot and it sounds the business. When it comes on cam over 6,000 it turns demonic. Like a giant angry murder hornet. What a thrill. I just drove it earlier today and did a few pulls in 3rd. Didn't even get to redline, I only took it to about 7,5000. Laughed it off as I lifted and slowed down every time. The car is pure joy for what it is.

One option is intake and exhaust yes, but the coolest thing would be to make it run on ethanol and adjust ratios accordingly! Surely it could then be cranked up to 200+ hp!
@@sosbabe2804 surely not them alone would do that. As mentioned, Ethanol and ecu tuning accordingly in addition to exhaust and intake tuning would possibly allow for that though.
@@teme5529 the OEM ecu is unflashable so therefore you’ll need a standalone and for E85 your going to have to replace all fuel lines and replace pump. I haven’t heard of gts going for E85

you need a baffled oil sump and to upgrade the oil pump gears its the only weakpoint on the engine, i love that car it drained all my money petrol every night
I’d love to have an older Celica GTS here in the states with same upgraded blower setup as my Elise. A TVS-1320 making 14 psi to redline is a glorious thing on a 2ZZ with a proper header and exhaust. Just let the transmission and engine warm up properly and keep fresh oil in a 2ZZ and you can rev it to 8K RPMs all day long on the stock block with the stock valve train. It is such a robust engine with great VVT tuning from the factory. Forced induction or not you feel that changeover around 6K RPMs. Nice sorted Celica. It is tough to find them now a days not beat to shit and riced to high hell with Pep Boys accessories and your Wish.com electric turbocharger. You will never be the fastest but you will always be smiling and will certainly surprise a lot of folks.
I have Celica GT Anniversary model (last one made). Would love a Rotrex on it. Not sure if se7en motorsports still do these kits and fit but if I had 5 grand lying around I would have one.
@@SpoolmeUp712 I already have a 192 VVTLI red colored just like this one . saving money for a rotrex charger as well (as for europe i think is the most reliable option). but i need to ship it to England from my country to get it mapped which is a costy thing ^_^ (here in Bulgaria these cars are not popular and tuners are none to be found ^_^

se7en motorsports recommend no more than 320 without internal enhancements I believe for both engine and gearbox. Not sure what Monkey Wrench do though
Great car, but there's no way it is "just over 1000 kg". Even without the extra weight of the supercharger and harness bar, it's around 1150 stock and this car obviously hasn't had any weight removed.
@@AlDim000 well, I mean it had the carbon fiber hood, spare wheel removed, front seats taken out and replaced with bucket seats, so realistically, and as he said it's over 1000kg
Tough shout...mazda is cheaper to tune but not that reliable...personally I'd go for the celica if you can find one that's already been built otherwise the ££££ will soon add up if you want to turn the N/A into forced induction

The seventh gen Celica was late to the party. If it had afew more years it might have had more exposure in the F.A.T.F. movies, which might have made them more popular and have more after market support. IMO.

I don’t think exhaust and intake gives the 2zz 200 crank hp. I know the JDM motor gives 200 crank stock with jdm ecu.

Daniel Rogers the gearbox is the weakest link before the rockers. At least with the supercharger set ups vs the turbo ones in the states
