This from TOKYO 83 is the best performance of a ballad ever performed...period! Otherwise, anything from HOUSTON 81 is unbeatable! Simply put, the subtle nuances of his vocal expression are without any equal!
If you don’t love Steve Perry something is wrong, I’m sorry but the journey today it’s technically not Journey there’s only one Journey and that’s journey with Steve Perry not the wannabe Steve Perry!!!
Couldn't agree more. Imagine what a force they would be if he was still there. They haven't done nearly as good stuff since he went. Not that Neill would agree. The GOAT.
I'm a big Home Free fan and love your reactions to them but I started watching your channel right around the time you started reacting to Journey!! I absolutely love Steve Perry!! His voice is so unique...its just unmistakable! I cant wait to see your reaction to this one. It's one of the first songs I heard by them along with "Wheel in the Sky"....
Steve could sing Old McDonald and he would sound amazing! Steve I heard had the flu during this tour in Japan. Poor thing he showed up regardless. They don’t make guys like Steve anymore 🥰
You're absolutely right. I heard an interview with someone he sang with. I think it was Kenny Loggins. He said Steve's voice could change to whoever's song he was singing to and would sound just like them. He is truly amazing
@@Mary-cz8pf there are a lot of people who have said that like Randy Jackson, Neal Schon and Jonathan Cane. There is one other person but I can’t remember off hand who it is. It’ll come to me. I just love SP so much and he is every bit the human being I thought he would be. I laughed when he told me that he could not believe we all waited for him all these years cause he doesn’t think he is all that! He is the sweetest most humblest mega music man I have ever met and I have met a few in my 60yrs. Some are nice and polite and some can’t be bothered but Steve is all in and engaged! I talked to him quite a bit that day. He leaned in and was all ears, advice and even made me swear and promise. You I am teaching myself how to play guitar Electric and acoustic. He loved how passionate I was about learning and about music in general so he made me swear and promise that I would never give up no matter how hard or frustrating it was. Getting advice and a blessing from your favorite artist and song bird man it doesn’t get any better than that. October 2019 is still the best day ever!
@@gailsimmons5270 I would have loved to meet him. We all know the singer Steve Perry. But I would love to know whe Steve Perry as a person is. I've heard nothing but great things about him from people like you that met him
@@Mary-cz8pf he is everything everyone has ever said he is. A true humble sweetheart and he absolutely loves us fans from the bottom of his heart. He told us that we made him what he is and that he is greatfull for the opportunity to perform for us. He believes he was put on earth to share and pass on his talent. That’s why he always says that he wants us to make the songs our own and he is just here to deliver them. I wish everyone could meet him. I loved him before but now I love him more and have a new level of respect for him😎
How about reacting to some Steve Perry solo songs? Foolish Heart, You'd Better Wait, I Stand Alone, Missing You More Journey songs that are fantastic -Escape, Lovin'Touchin'Squeezin, Anyway You Want It-all of these live in Houston. Walks Like a Lady in Osaka
Definitely check out Journey’s Patiently, Studio Jam 1979. I PROMISE you WILL NOT be disappointed! It will take you for a ride!!! 👍🏻 I have never heard Steve sound so good!!!
To me one of Steve's simplest vocals but OMG his tone is just EVERYTHING!!!! That little run at 3:35......kills me!!! Thanks for the Journey love Dev!!! LOVE your reactions!!!!
Krizzy’s husband has great taste! Loving your Journey reactions. If you want to hear an amazingly crystal clear and powerful song by Steve Perry, you should react to Missing You the Official Video. Steve’s voice is haunting and beyond perfect in this song. It’s also a very beautiful ballad written by Steve. You definitely should check it out. Your wife will thank me. Great reaction ♥️
Wow! I love your responses to Steve. You make this 75 year old woman so happy to have found y’all. You love your wife & it’s so obvious & lovely to see. GOD is surely blessing you & yours ❤️ love from Texas 🇨🇱🌵❤️
One of the two top songs for me along with Faithfully. I'm glad someone read some comments and finally reacted to this one. One of Steve's most beautiful songs, and sadly gets no airplay. I hope this now finds its way into the ears of "fair-weather" fans that love their music but only ever knows the popular hits on the radio. This deserves more love.
Neal's last name sounds just like the name Sean! Neal Schon! Would you believe that The Voice had the flu during the Tokyo tour?? You should also react to the studio version of Still They Ride!
what i find amazing is that steve perry's voice shone the brightest despite competing with a lot of other big talents vocally. like lou gramm of foreigner, dennis deyoung of styx, the eagles, boston, meatloaf, lionel richie, etc. there were so many VERY talented male singers during the late '70's through the mid-1980's.
My absolute favorite version of this song. Some of the songs from this concert aren't up to Steve's usual high standards due to him feeling a bit poorly. But he sounds great on this one. The way he stretches out those notes and throws in some vocal gymnastics. Oh yeah!
Hey Devin, I'm an old time Journey Fan... Journey was the best recording band back in the 80's. Steve "machine gun" Smith (Drummer) The song La Do Da. has a drum solo and it's amazing.
Edge of the Blade,,, is a deep cut that you will like. Pull up the lyrics. Dead or Alive - Great 🎶 Donna please (solo album-For the love of strange medicine)
Brother You Got to listen to... Something To Hide,Winds Of March, Daydream, Felling That Way, Anytime, To Late, City Of The Angle's, Open The Door, Dixie Highway,la Do Da,Do You Recall, Steve Perry At His Best
No one is doing this reaction on any channel but check out Journey song called La Do Da on the Captured live track. It shows amazing solos of band members. On the same track is the very best version of Lovin Touchin Squeezin which i haven't heard on any reaction channel either
Journey, my fav band from the past!! Devin, could react to a song by Petra called this means war please?? They're a hard rock Christian band from the past, and i just know you'll love it!!! Thx, and Happy New Year!!
Please, PLEASE, PLEEEEEEZE react to Steve Perry's Missing You and I Stand Alone.... I'm positive you will sit there with your jaw dropped! I'm begging you, lol YOU WILL NOTTTT BE DISAPPOINTED!!
In 1989 Bon Jovi coined Steve Perry as "The Voice" and it has rightfully stuck with him ever since. He is my #1 favorite singer. In my opinion he is unmatched in live performances.
If you want to hear a cool voice check out Triumph, Lay it on the line, Never Surrender, etc... Great 80's band along with Rush both from Canada! Check out Tom Sawyer from Moving Pictures by Rush!
Every singer has habits, Steve tipping his head to the right, and, at times, right arm goes up is Steve’s. I think Steve’s able to open up his vocal cords to tilt his head. 🤷♀️
Happy New Year! On ABC tonight’s “Dick Clark’s Rockin Eve” will have Journey live with the singer they found after Steve Perry left the band.. He sounds just like Steve.
Did you catch Andy Coen's rant on the CNN coverage of that New Year Show? It was insane! He had been drinking and went off the deep end screaming "It can't be Journey without Steve!" Anderson Cooper was trying to settle him down patting him on the back and brushing confetti off of him. He went to crazy town.
You gotta listen to their older material in the late 70s. May I recommend the Infinity album? Two songs that stand out to me were Somethin’ to Hide and Winds of March.

Steve has a voice that still amazes me every time I hear him sing. His breath control is unbelievable.❤
He was sick and he still sounded amazing. His voice is beautiful.
Never a bad song...love STEVE 🤗
How you know?
He had the flu during this tour
How do you know
Steve Perry just talking has a calming voice... he is an original
Who could sound like this when they had the flu. Only The Voice Steve Perry ♥️🎤
There is a reason they call him "THE Voice".
THE BEST vocals ever it’s amazing. How can anyone describe this voice? Love him
Steve Perry had the flu during this tour in 1983. Still...amazing! Who else can sound like that...having the flu? An incredible performance.
Freddie Mercury was dying when he recorded Queen’s last album.
@@daleboxsell2805 no disrespect but he couldnt touch him even at his peak
If this song doesn’t move you out of your seat you’re not human! 😭 Goosebumps and tears every time I watch this! Steve Perry is a treasure! ❤️
Great react
My wife´s favorite song of Journey
This is the Real Journey. Journey is Journey only with Steve Perry on vocals
I'm so thankful to have this music in my youth. I love sharing it with my kids and they really appreciate it as well. 🙏
Why can't this night go on forever..... journey is a must also live of course
No band does a ballad better than Journey. Steve Perry just had the perfect crooner's voice to reach in and pull those heart strings.
Perry makes my knees buckle with this song! He's Unbelievably gifted. His voice is just on a whole different level - Planet Perry
This from TOKYO 83 is the best performance of a ballad ever performed...period! Otherwise, anything from HOUSTON 81 is unbeatable! Simply put, the subtle nuances of his vocal expression are without any equal!
This man could hit them high notes like NO Other......Killer Voice He is a Legend! Steve Perry FOREVER!!!!!!
My favorite Journey song! There are no bad songs on Escape. Steve Perry, there is no substitute, tha range on that man....whew!

I totally agree. It sounds harsh but today’s Journey is more like a tribute band.
Totaly agree

You are speaking the truth and nothing but the truth!!
And this is why they called him "The Voice". Incredible gift, that's for certain. ❤
God even his lows are so f. Beautiful... how does he do it?? 😱😱😱😱😱❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

He’s known as “THE VOICE”. Best of all time!!🎤🎶♥️. Faithfully, Lights, Mother/Father are really awesome. They’re all fabulous with Steve singing!!
Great reaction! I really enjoy your Journey reactions! If I'm not mistaken, Steve Perry had the flu during this performance.
Best male vocalist of all time. Glad I got to see them in concert back then.

Love me some classic Journey
Also Like your Christian influence on the platform- keep the faith brother
The voice. Journey is nothing but a tribute band now .
exactly
I agree they are nothing without Steve Perry no Steve Perry no journey
Only other voices that compare....Ronnie James Dio and Layne Staley.....
Not to diss arnel but he has to work so hard to sing like Steve it is not natural and his lower register is still too high... Steven's is lower.
No comparison, cover band now.
The best of ‘Still they Ride’
These guys were their very best , together. Appreciate you D.
Awesome song
Love Steve Perry! And the Clemson Tigers 🐯 (your poster) 🥰
