Ive used these type of jigs on the canal here in stoke...but you got to pick your stretch...loads of snags....but had a few half pounders....dog looks like she loving it so everyones happy....love the content.

Another good vid John is that the macc canal .. for the better perch your much better using fluorocarbon John tied on to braid especially when the water is clear them big perch can be picky ..and fluorocarbon is the way to go .. top vid as always 👍🏻
Worst thing with dogs on canals is when they come take a massive dump near your seat box lol...Then the poor owner frantically apologising and picking up said steaming dump with a poo bag... Happy Xmas to all 😂 And that dog lola is probably gonna be leaving a pretty awful mess after them mackerel too 😆 🤣..
😂😂don't worry John it's happened to us all along our travels, best I seen was a Labrador take a full box of frozen squid 😂😂I use a tripod net now for that reason, it's not any dogs fault they are just doing there thing 😂 , I've found Labradors are most noseyest😂😂🎣🎣 👍

To be honest the poor water clarity is great for predator fishing, because the colour in the water hides the line and hooks, when fishing in crystal clear water, id use a realistic looking lure/bait and thinner line, but when there is colour in the water use bright colourful lures, and also things like spinners or lures with ball bearings in, when the fish cannot see very well due to poor clarity they will feel the disturbance and vibrations through the water from a spinner etc, think its a struggling fish/animal and come to investigate. Enjoyed the vids, canals are way underated. I caught my pb perch on the canal recently, 1lbs 9oz using a copper coloured 7g spinner, casted over to where a pipe was dripping water into the canal on the far bank. Features always hold fish on canal, boat, bridges, overhanging trees etc.

No signs anywhere buddy I had a good check and it don’t say a thing about it being private? Maybe the PAA need to get some signs up so people like myself know it’s private - all the best - John
Had to have her put down this summer buddy ❤️ Big cancer lump in her neck, she completely lost her feet, couldn’t even stand up at the end and was in a lot of pain….. painful to watch and one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make but there really wasn’t any other option couldn’t see her suffer like she did ❤️

Nice slower retrieves work better in the winter I use the Berkley soft lures and do well also the savage gear gravity crank baits to are brilliant 👌

get a bigger lure for the bigger perch. 6-7cm in my experience. You’ll get rid of the small ones also.

It doesn't make a great deal of difference to be honest they come out feeding more as the ground has been churned up
i had a dog run and take a mackerel with 2 trebles in it... how on earth it didnt hook itself.. barbless hooks thankfully
