Thank you for this video. It is very helpful. What is the name of the catalog that mentions all the watch part numbers? I can see how handy a catalog like that would be, especially with regard to the interchangeably of parts among various models.
Alot of these material catalogs are free off of "Pocket watch database" this is a great place to research your movements. They can be downloaded so you have them on your computer. The holy grail is a Hamilton parts catalog. Hard to find. I am looking for this for years. Cheers
I am so glad this was helpful! I explain in detail about the catalog and how to use it in this video (Enjoy) : th-cam.com/video/EFdZXn1U8x4/w-d-xo.html
I love collecting and repairing old pocket watches too! Very satisfying bringing these old timepieces back to life! They don't make them like they used to. 😉
Thank you so much for your channel and videos!! New subscriber here, and a brand-new Pocket Watch fanatic!! I've always admired vintage time pieces, especially pocket watches. Being a retired engineer, I'm totally fascinated and appreciative of any precision-engineered machinery. Getting a late start (72) but still so excited about building a collection of beautiful timepieces and getting my grandson involved as much as possible (he's a US Marine, and free time these days is precious). Love your videos, so well done and just watching them makes me feel great!!! Thank you! Best wishes, and I'll be watching your channel often.
I am so glad that you are enjoying these videos! Hopefully your grandson will be as interested as you! (How could he NOT be?). Tell your grandson that his service is much appreciated! Thanks for your support Santa!
Hi, very interesting video, thank you. You may be able to help me with a beautiful movement I have purchased off Ebay and it has a broken balance staff that needs replacing together with a winding stem... It's a South Bend watch Co USA 19 jewel 429 adjusted temp 4 positions double roller. I wondered if you know the parts numbers I need. I am in the UK and know Cousins a watch parts supplier has them but not sure of the size I need. Thank you in anticipation. 😁 👍
Thanks for the kind comment. The balance staff part number is 115018 for the double roller. My book lists two winding stems: part # 1X5900 for the long thread stem, and part #65900 for the short thread stem. I know finding the stem may be hard. You might have to take measurements of your stem and find something close to that. OttoFrei.com has a good supply of stems. I hope this information helps.
Started carrying a pocketwatch in the 70s wrist watches always got broken... have a few, if i find one i like I send it off to a shop for cleaning or repair... there are still shops that do that... cost a little bit, but can't take it with you...
Can you tell me what the name of the part is that the stem goes through? I call it the neck...because it reminds me of a neck, but I'm not certain if that's the real name of it. Many thanks, LilyMarlaina 🌷

Your watch will likely last a long time because you are taking such good care of it! (I enjoy carrying them too!)
