Awesome video! Super fun to watch and also informative. I've had my HSD S11 (gen 1) for nearly a year and LOVE it! I take my almost 4-year-old son all over San Francisco with it and it's honestly changed our life. It's so fun, and I feel confident owning a quality bike. Shout out to The New Wheel for our HSD and their amazing customer service at each step of our ownership! You guys are amazing👍🏼
Now I want this bike AND boba! Lol. Great video. The HSD Gen 2 is an impressive bike! I love my Quick Haul but one day I'd love to get an HSD for that extra cargo capacity to carry another person
Oh lord… I was stepping into your Chanel when you guys have been in Bern with your fantastic documentary. And now Ida talks like a pro… if I would think of a really big person I would have chosen 10 year old as well! Warm regards from Germany! ❤
Your videos are both entertaining and informative. I'm a convert to e-bikes having bought a totally pristine Gazelle Easyflow HMS from a gentleman in Dublin. I live in Northern Ireland and the journey down and back was quite an adventure. It would have been well over 250 miles. It included seven different train rides, a bus journey and a 12 mile ride along a towpath. That ride confirmed to me that my decision to buy that particular bike was the right one. I used to ride BikeE recumbents but age and terrain were against me. The feet forwards riding position reminded me of the RANS Fusion but with a motor. I don't have to lift my head to see where I'm going and my feet are flat on the ground when I'm stopped. I don't even need cycling shoes anymore. Yes, it's heavy but it's so comfortable.
You guys are magic. Your togetherness alone sells the bikes. Ida is a gem and will one day help run the company. Just beautiful. Oh yeah, outstanding overview of the HSD. Thinking of picking up one for my wife’s birthday. Just wish I lived in California 😢. Be well friends.
Nice review. Congrats with the new HSD. As I got 3 child's, wanted to buy GSD, but all models was out of stock, and quite long waiting time for preorder. And I bought Riese & Muller Multitinker. Can't wait to collect it on 30 October )
Thx-Q very much for another great informative review. We’re planning to visit your shop soon during our E bike decision process. Somewhat drawn to decent ranged, hill capable; w/ or w/out PAS active Cargo-style to traverse our beautiful SF Bay area as a 2nd vehicle. Glad we found your YT-Channel. That being said, here’s an odd Q: what café or restaurant were y’all visiting at time-code: #2:25 Thanks again… TakeCare… SeeYaSoon… @ the shop of course 😊
Absolutely! The new Smart System motors all have 75Nm of torque which is plenty for getting up even SF's most challenging hills. But don't take our word for it. Come test ride at our Bernal store and head to the top of Bernal to feel it for yourself.
The P5i is not bad for a lot of weight but the gear range is narrower than on the P10 or S11 so hill climbing will not be as strong with lots of weight. Make sense?
Will you do a review of the Term Orox? I gotta come into the shop and check one out but it seems too much for me. Feels like the “Midlife Crisis Overlander SUV Purchase” but…like for Marin Cargo Dads.
Riding the current model and using it for everything. What I do want is to make some tweaks to create an offroad version... which model would be best for trail riding and touring with some nobby tyres and drink bottles?
I have the HSD gen 2 P10, which I love, but I can't make it up the steepest hills in my town (15% grade) with my ~100 lb passenger on the back :( I'm considering trading up to the HSD gen 2 S11--but would that make a difference? Thanks!!
No you shouldn’t need to do that to get better hill climbing! What you need to do is get your bike shop to put a wider range cassette on your bike with lower low gears. This will help you climb!
I am conflicted by the incompatibility the new Smartsystem, Bosch give service life of six years, which is not very long in bike years. a well maintained bike can still look very good in 6 years and can work every bit as well as new, if you can't get some critical spare, all the propriety, physical aspects, like the charge plug and the BB bracket geometry, means the Bike could be "bricked" if the wrong thing goes wrong. I would love for the EU to legislate about compatibility and key dimensions on e-bikes so that it is actually sustainable , I think curent Bosch system isn't and severely puts me off

For me, the HSD is one of the most complete bikes.
Great review as always😊
I LOVE my first gen HSD. They are the best! And of course, I love this video! Thanks for all you do to make the world a better place!

Great review, but I'm really here for Karen's pride in Ida.

Fun video! And a very fun bike. I love my HSD.

Thank you so much. Hope you go for it. And stop by the shop if you make it our way!
your family is solid gold

Nice family review
I need a Shetland Pony sticker for my new HSD, THe San Francisco store was a great buying and first ride experience!
That's so great you remember the first HSD video. So funny. Enjoy.
:) So glad you got your bike from us!
loved the bloopers at the end. lol🤗
Love this video! Just scheduled a test ride at your Oakland shop for later this week! 🙌🏾
Awesome! We can't wait to see you!
Great review. We currently have a GSD Gen2 and debating between the Quick Haul or HSD for our 2nd family bike. First world problems :)
😆. Go for the HSD if you’ve got the budget!
OMG! Ida has grown up so fast!

So glad you enjoyed it and can't wait to see you at the shop! Here is the Dim Sum spot we wen to in the video: maps.app.goo.gl/feLT3UW8rvQ5NS9g7
Can it go up the steepest hills in SF? Thx.

It has tons of torque. Going up hills is easy.
So sad they dropped support for the enviolo automatiq though. I am enjoying my gen1 HSD S+! Wish I could get those Bosch smart system features though.
I imagine it may come back in the future... we will see!
Loved this video! Can you explain a little more why the P5i is bad for lots of weight?
The P5i is not bad for a lot of weight but the gear range is narrower than on the P10 or S11 so hill climbing will not be as strong with lots of weight. Make sense?
Very nice, you guys are so cool...Peace to the world.
Amen!

Yes we definitely want to! Stay tuned!
Riding the current model and using it for everything. What I do want is to make some tweaks to create an offroad version... which model would be best for trail riding and touring with some nobby tyres and drink bottles?
I would say the the P10 or S11 would be the best model for some light trail riding
I like to see more moms on bikes rather than vans.
