This episode was the so emotional for me when it first came out. Sam finally has a memory of his mother and it’s her saving his life. So beautiful
"Did you kill him? Are those even your kids?"
This episode is one of my favs, we get to see their mom again. Sam gets some closure by seeing his mom. We see Dean put his walls down a little when Sam is not around. Plus so much more. Really good episode. :D
I love Missouri Mosley.. and Sam's amusement with her.
"take your brother outside as fast as you can and don't look back" exact same line as the pilot.
Skin was better with the intended music as are some others in this season. I really wish that netflix would get their shit together and pony up for the rights now that they've been cashing in on SPN for ..I think 7 years.
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong... I think it was 2016 when they got on netflix.
Idk if anyone finds this as interesting as I do, but I figured I’d throw this out there anyway because I’m full of useless Supernatural facts:
Netflix doesn’t have any control over the songs that play in season one, Warner Brothers is the one responsible for the different music since they own the franchise. Back in 2004/2005 when they were negotiating contracts and music licensing, they only included music rights for DVD and live television. Streaming TV didn’t even really exist/become popular in the US until Netflix started streaming in 2007.
Fun side note: TH-cam was started in 2005, same age as Supernatural!
The music in s1 is the main reason I started buying the DVDs. While it’s not great, I don’t think WB is ever going to spend the time and money to renegotiate the music licensing for season one of a show that ended over two years ago 😕 especially with so many TV companies, Warner Brothers included, going through mergers and general chaos these past few years. Plus! I’m sure they’re more than happy to collect the money from DVD sales for anyone who really wants the original music, vs spending a lot of money for licensing.
The first time Sam is able to see his mother in person and remember it...
I know what happens in the garbage disposal scene and I flinch everytime.

The way parents have to keep it together before their kids, eldest children have it even harder because it’s not their kids but the responsibility is just as heavy. Those eldest kids are also still just kids figuring life out while raising others too.
Speaking from experience I definitely see why elder children have it harder talking about emotions or showing them
Hand in the drain gets me every time, even though I’ve seen this episode like 20 times. 😩
I love how they chopped Jenny’s front door down and then just chucked deuces and drove off.
I smile every time you say Jeffrey's name because I love him so much
I feel for Sam and Dean in this episode. Sam for finally seeing and meeting hsi mom for the first time, her saving his life , and her apologizing to him and him not know what about or why (it is important for later). Sam finally telling Dean about his dreams, and Jessica dreams he had, and his guilt.
Dean having to come back to a home/house he swore to himself he would never return to after watching his mom die, caring his little brother out of the house, and being scared to lose his dad. Dean having a moment of calling his Dad, begging him to come help him, because he doesn't know if he can handle this on his own. Dean seeing his for the first time since she died, her being a ghost and her focusing her attention soley on Sam, the hurt and heartbreak on his face. Even though he understood that for Sam its the first time every seeing her, for Dean it is still the first time he has seen her alive since hearing her Screams, smelling the smoke and fire, and having to say good bye as they put her burned body into the ground.
Then seeing that John did come back home but never showed himself to Sam or Dean. John, in his mind, is protecting them but its really actually hurting them emotional.
Its heart breaking and emotional for both brothers and you can feel it from both actors. An amazing episode with an amazing cast.
Aw you got out Mary's 'I'm sorry." This episode and the three that follow it are the episodes that made me realize this show wasn't just another show for me.
The actress playing Missouri and Jeffery Dean Morgan were BOTH on “Grey’s Anatomy”. The behind the scenes stuff (and Jeffery himself) said that he was super tired and didn’t know his lines…the other actors wore post-it notes on their foreheads when filming his “coverage” to help out.
Damn, I never thought about it like that... But what you said is so true about the "could-be robbers" stuff. It would have been so sketchy if they weren't Sam and Dean freakin Winchester.
Also, Missouri!!!! I love her!
Also, what Sam said to the girl "take your brother outside as fast as you can, don't look back" is somewhat the exact same thing John said to 4-year-old Dean.

This is the first episode in the series with no music other than the end credits theme, written by Jay Gruska. It’s possibly the only one with no other credited music? I can’t think of any others off the top of my head. (Someone please tell me if I’m wrong! I’m curious now)

Hey I agree with you about odd number episodes 🤷♀️🤣, they were good but this one is the best, I don't know why but seeing Dean crying always gets me.
This was a PHENOMENAL episode. I love how much progress we got with the storylines, and PAPA WINCHESTER IS ALIVEEEEEEE. So happy to see JDM, but it sucks that he is not speaking to his sons and making them worry. Obviously there's a reason and I was dying to know what it was.
I also love that they saw the spirit of their mother. Was she at the house the whole time? That's sort of sad. It was also a tad odd that she didn't say more to them. Their faces were so sad.
That clapping monkey was creepy before I saw this show but since it is pure nightmare! This episode brought some good emotion, and I absolutely love Missouri! Definitely a turning point for the series making it less of a monster of the week type thing. Loved it! But how Sam connected his tree drawing to the actual tree in the picture I didn't quite get, he isn't much of an artist.
But he dreamed about it
Been waiting for this episode.

ngl I thought the 2 dozen eggs thing was weird, but since moving in with my aunt I've noticed she hardboils 1 dozen and uses a second dozen for general egg consumption (I don't eat eggs regularly, so it's all her mind you)
