- I went to the Evil Mad Scientist garage sale to check out their knitting machines and leftover hardware. They used to manufacture the hardware for AYAB, an open source project to retrofit vintage Brother knitting machines to be controlled by computer. Check out what I picked up while I was there!

I am a metal worker. You can commission someone to fabricate that needle for you if you give them an example to replicate. Or a 3d scan would work for the right metalsmith.

I laughed as you were bringing in your “haul” as it reminded me when I got home from an estate sale of a former machine knitter hahaha. There’s so many extra boxes of little bits and bobs beyond just the machine cases themselves!
I hope the linker works well for you! It’s so much smaller than I always imagine. You usually only see pictures of it standing alone and they always look giant.
I am SO interested in a video about the linker! I didn't have a name for the machine that sews together knitted items, and now I do ❤ I had seen the chain stitch and wondered if that might be easier for me (primarily a crocheter) to join pieces.
I love your videos because I am a computer person as well and you are SO right, they are such mechanical marvels!
I owned 4 knitting machines when they were a thing back in the 90s. I had one Elna bulky, one brother electronic, and two other manual standard machines. It was so much fun. It was recently that I donated one, the others I disassembled and sold the parts on EBay. Surprised they are coming back.
In the 70’s machine knitting was a big deal, at the Michigan state fair they had a huge room with many set up and ppl demonstrating then they just disappeared. Happy to see them being used again

Whoa that’s crazy, I used to walk by that office park when I was working in Santa Clara at SiTime. Crazy to see lol. I had no idea they were there.
I have seen needles for passap linker on sale 🤔 I tried hauge linker, didn't like it, because I tended to stretch the pieces too much to fit them on the pegs. I now own a belinky linker which is much easier for me to use. I'm a bit jelly of the garage sales 😊 great items!
Where have you seen them? I couldn't find any on e-bay or anywhere else for that matter.

Passap Linker 🤩🤩 I’ve been wanting one just because of the gorgeous design!!
I'm in the same boat with my Hague linker. I was given an original blue Hague. The new gray machines use a different needle and the one for mine is no longer made.

May I recommend #rockinghorsefarms in St. Cloud MN for parts for your linker. They may have what you need, or may know who to ask. They're like a beloved old hardware store that doesn't get rid of any inventory. Lots of used and new knitting machines, too.

Oh! A gorgeous Passap linker, the only thing I never found for my Pink Passap...
You should get lots of detailed pictures of the needle with measurements. I bet it could be machined or 3D printed
You're not the first person to suggest that but I'm worried that a 3D printed needle won't be strong enough.
I would not be without my linker, had one since I began in the 1980’s and I have The Hague. I think if it’s good to go you will enjoy using it 👍

I’m curious to see what you think about the linker. I also have a Passap linker that I use with my Brothers machines and I can never tell if I’m using it wrong, or if the mismatched gauge (5mm vs 4.5mm) is the root of my problems with it
I would love a video for the linker! I have one, but I am intimidated to get it out!
Also, as a newer machine knitter, some things i needed help with from your swoncho video were: do i use the same gauge for the ribbing? And i couldnt remember the settings for the ribber (i did try to use my manual) also, i ended up seaming the sides under the arms with the seam on the outside so i could have used a small part if the video to tell me which side to seam on 😂

I don't understand the purpose of the linker. I've seen people quickly and easily seam their knit pieces together with the same knitting machine on which they made them. How is it different?
I have a problem I'm struggling with and can't figure out. when I put, For example I need 20 stitches but I first need 10 stitches to work my rows and 10 in hold, when I knit my 10 stitches and rows then I go to add my next 10 stitches for some reason even with the other ten stitches in hold it still connects the rows with a big loop not a knit stitch just a loop hanging on the pass ever time in the middle of the stitches where Im trying to put them in hold and connect later as a row.??HELP
have you considered selling the ayab boards that work? it would be a lot of help
I will not be selling these ones. We're looking for an easier way to distribute fully assembled boards but it's going to take some time.

I gave away my 910 + ribber. Giving away a Singer bulky SK150 + ribber and a PS-150 pattern controller at my machine knit club tomorrow. Also a White/Suberba Easy Knitter to our club members. I need my office floor back! Our club is in Los Angeles.
