The problem all old bands have is if they stay too close to their original roots people will say they don't evolve. But if they explore new paths people will say they don't sound the same they used to.
This.
The thing is that this album had a bit of both. Like it had heaviness of the first albuns, yet the production and the sound are more similar to issues
Human nature.. never satisfied with anything
That's the problem with all bands/musicians ever.
Which is why you have bands like weezer for instance who found a middle ground while still sounding the same as they always have but still incorporate new elements into their music. Korn is different though they sold out for a while when they hooked up with skrillex they lost track of who they were and where they came from but the last two albums they came out with they've kind of gone back to their roots
The best about Korn is, there are thousands of bands, but Korn is so special. You only have to hear one tone...and you know exactly who it is. Love it !!!!
Check out chaoseum-smile again
The heavy, loose strings of their bass is their signature
I've always identified Korn by their lead singer. The bass is a dead giveaway though for sure.

I stopped listening to KoRn after high school. KoRn got me through a lot of my bad childhood. Now I find myself in another dark place and remember the horrible feelings I thought were behind me. Catharsis is the word to describe what this band does best.

No words can describe my fascination and respect for this band.
If you remember this Masterpiece song you are not old you are high quality vintage. 💞👌😊👍
One of Korn's greatest songs, when they were in their prime.
Anthony O'Brien What many consider is that Untouchables was the first album that went downfall. I disagree with that, just mentioning.
Matthias Tammekivi I don't think that, Untouchables is an interesting album, they are playing like a mature band (mature and mainstream are not necessary together, we are talking about 2002, internet is main plataform) lyrics are powerful, and think about the name of the album "Untouchables", at that moment they are, indeed, untouchables, the most recognized "nu metal" (I'd say inspiration of nu metal) band
kllaudyo I thought so but I don't know why people dislike the album.

It's unbelievable how clean the sound is considering how tuned down the guitars are. It should sound like absolute mud, and it doesn't. Kudos to the sound engineer, and the band for picking out their tones.
The tone was picked by the producer Michael Beinhorn. They recorded the album in 96khz.
I do think it's a bit muddy in my opinion. If you compare them like Meshugah or any metal core tuned in A or G#.
But I believe that was the intention, sounding a bit like hip hop Drum Bass and less like 80s metal.
