Thailand election 2023: Excitement, fear as polls open

  • Voting began at 8am local time (01:00 GMT) on Sunday and will close at 5pm (10:00 GMT).
About 52 million voters are choosing members of a new 500-seat House of Representatives for the next four years.
The opposition Pheu Thai Party is expected to win the most seats as it has in every election since 2001 but is facing a stiff challenge from the progressive Move Forward Party.
On the conservative side, Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, who led the 2014 coup as army chief, has had a lacklustre campaign.
The military, which has intervened regularly in Thai politics, has insisted it will not get involved this time.

Changes with opposition parties funded by Washington. One run by a "fu+gitive" from a hotel room in dubai, the other "Move forward" with Thanathorn juangroongroan, an American puppet. There will definitely be changes, changes in the field of relations with China, changes for the worse, just as the US wants.

Pheu Thai and Move Forward should band together. Also, about time that the establishment be challenged with the repeal of the Lese Majeste Law. A power sharing deal between Paetongtarn and Pita would do well for the whole Thailand. Maybe, backroom discussions should be held after the elections to return Thailand to 'real democracy' again sans the military influence. Someone has said that the past 10 years has been a lost decade for Thais

is not the time for the opposition parties to fight among themselves. Put aside other differences to frorm a majority coalition government to remove the military from politics is the top priority. Else another coup is just a matter of time, and thailand same same again but tourists are not complaining.

    1. Move Forward win in 1st place.
    2. Pheu Thai Party in 2nd place.
    Congratulation go both parties.
Both parties+ can form the coalition government.

Congratulation to the mighty democrate system and of course to the people of Thailand. On the other side of borders of Thailand, especially the people of Mayanma and Cambodia, this is their dream; they just never get the chance to taste democracy/real election. Mayanma runs by military government coup d' etat since 3 years ago, where as Cambodia runs by a communist, totaltarian, human rights abuser Hun Sen in almost 40 years now. In every election, Hun Sen either jailed/intimidated/killed his opponents/critics.
