personally I ve found the best teachers in “bel canto”, which is typical Italian opera singing. I’m a rocker but bel canto is super useful since it’s the most articulated tradition in music history. Also, now bel canto has improved with science, but also with spirituality: you may know how to sing but you need that “feeling” too...
Wow. This seemed to change everything. Not only does it sound way more rich and interesting, but this seems to help with control when you land on a note and floating to other notes is effortless.
yeah you are right freya - i sing lots of songs without losing my voice and i am now starting to enjoy my voice and bit by bit discover the joy of singing when you know how to sing right - tnx to you freya - i love you
Priceless tips!! This has been the biggest issue for my voice of unable to control how it sound , keep breaking n not clear! Now, it is getting so much better. Thank you so much!
When I get the exact amount of air combined with just the right cord closure it feels so effortless and sounds great , like hitting a golf shot right off the sweet spot of the club. ..sadly both happen rarely and only by accident!
This is wonderful! I am a chorus teacher in North Georgia, and I have really enjoyed watching your incredibly instructive videos. I am sharing them with my students as we work to master our voices. : )
Think of it like a balloon.. if you pinch the opening of the balloon and just barely let air escape, it sounds a pitch. But if you open it too much the air just rushed out and you get no pitch.
Qué importante! Estuve trabajando otras cosas sin tener esto tan en cuenta y cuando empecé a practicarlo noté una mejoría tremenda! Muchas gracias Freya ❤
Question. I hear a lot of bad things about vocal fry, people say to distort your voice with compression instead. You say to do both at the same time? Is this the way to distort and scream?
Hi Freya, thanks for all your singing help! It would be helpful if each time you mention a body part you show a diagram so we can become more and more familiar with airflow. Thank you.
great video!!! But I have a question, I am a tenor, and I can do what you demonstrated in my middle to upper range, but I have big trouble doing it in my low-mid to low range, any tips? Thx very much, have a nice day :)
This was a great video ❤️ I'm still struggling to understand how it's supposed to physically feel when done properly though... it feels like I'm restricting my throat, and my larynx is really high up. I assume that's from too much pressure/air? I either release no air or way too much 😕 and the higher I go, the more I feel like I'm being strangled.. 😞 If I try to use less air then I have poor volume and my sound fades in and out.
This is once a secret technique, this is why Chester Bennington sound almost impossible to do, strong head voice plus compression equals endless posobilities..Ty very much Freya
Compression is a medical term referring to the vocal fold closure itself via the contraction of the lateral cricoarytenoid, oblique arytenoid, and transverse arytenoid muscles. It does not refer to the rise in pulmonary or subglottic pressure.
The instant I hear vocal fry, I switch off the song. It is the most annoying and fake sounding garbage used by posers and pretentious people who don’t have a real song to sing in the first place. If the song isn’t strong enough, then find another. You ain’t all that sexy as you think that fake, non talent sound makes you appear. It’s not unique. It’s not cool. It’s unoriginal and sheep like groupthink. Yes I hate it that much.
She has oodles of videos where she demonstrates stuff. This one didn't require much demonstration, but explanation. She demonstrated as much as was necessary. :-)
Would have been nice if any of the teachers who got paid to teach me anything had mentioned ANY of this.
I have the same issue.. they even don't know what I am doing .-.
Same

I was just told I can’t sing my entire life
Mine did on the very first lesson! 😂 She knew right away I was not getting any support from the lower torso. I’m glad I’m having her support!

Priceless information! Why would anybody not love Freya!
God Bless!
Because of jealousy do to the fact that they themselves aren’t self actualized.

That is my lifelong problem, my airy and weak voice ...thanks! 😌
Thank you very much for the tips!
You are such an inspiration. Your guidance is so right on. Thank you.

life changing advice thank you
Awesome, like always :) Thank you, Freya!
Just excellent! Thank you Freya💝
I've just tried this princible of using a small jet of air through the aperture without leakage , it's brilliant and makes singing easier 😊👍
Super helpful, and thanks for giving us a test to self control!
Wow, no teacher has mentioned this! WHY? Thank you so much!
Priceless! Thanks again.
Excellent, Freya! Thank you.
I love this explanation
Thank you so much!
thank u soo much for giving many tips...
Qué importante! Estuve trabajando otras cosas sin tener esto tan en cuenta y cuando empecé a practicarlo noté una mejoría tremenda! Muchas gracias Freya ❤
This is the single most important thing in singing. Bad teachers often go on for years without mentioning this, if they know it at all.
Thanks for the great info and explanation!
Breathless & Quiet .
I love you! You are so helpful.
This video make me happy ..bcz i got my answer ❤️
what on Earth, it's amazing what our bodies can do, like.. ????? I can control air???? Technique 🙌🤘🥰
Listening to Freya has caused me to think I'm leaking air , thanks 🤗
Thanks for another great video. Near the end you sounded like the late, great Minnie Riperton on the breathy demonstration :-)
I agree
I like this
Hmm... I needed to hear this!! Thanks😃
Is this what the straw my instructor gave me is for?
What does good posture have to do with it? If you know how to sing well, you can do it on your back.
Question. I hear a lot of bad things about vocal fry, people say to distort your voice with compression instead. You say to do both at the same time? Is this the way to distort and scream?
freyas, it was awesome,i am a vocalist from india,i have our music band.hope to be in touch with you everyday .
Thank u mem

Fuego🔥
I so enjoyed your coaching “Think of Me.” I’ll be back! Blessings -
Are you describing flow phonation?
Fill up the lower back before the belly. Your job is not to get the air out but to let it out.
is your 5 STEPS TO BRING OUT YOUR VOICE down? It says my emails are invalid
apparently rihanna does this alot
great video!!! But I have a question, I am a tenor, and I can do what you demonstrated in my middle to upper range, but I have big trouble doing it in my low-mid to low range, any tips?
Thx very much, have a nice day :)
I feel the this at my lowest range F2 and E2, it’s very hard to not to be breathy. I think it’s because they are already not of my comfort zone.
@@wunghugh633 trust me bro, no one's gonna answer us forever.
It's the same as straw excersice.

With the 30 minute warm ups on your website, are they supposed to be short or do we do them a little more than in the video?
Is there difference between compression and vocal cord closure?
Not really a difference, compression is what you use to keep the vocal folds closed
Does anyone else think that good singers tend to be very socially intelligent?
Vocal coaches are taking notes…

quit being an ass, we all know you took at least 15 minutes to write and proofread this short comment in an attempt to sound/appear intelligent
