Esse ritmo da bateria de Steve e o baixo do Hooky já antecipavam muita coisa do que viria nos anos de New Order. Sem dúvida é uma antecipação sonora não só para o NO mas para muitos ouvintes que montaram suas bandas após Closer.
I'm a huge fan of the band, this is far Better way than the "reimagined" shitty Unknown Pleasure videos I'm sure There are a lot of people out there who could make amazing videos
Genres.. people try to label bands like Joy Division, Bauhaus, Love And Rockets, Sisters Of Mercy, others as Gothic. Mostly because of "Dark Lyrics, tones. Post Punk? Alternative? There is definitely a difference, but not sure where it falls. People love to compartmentalize things.. especially things that most don't understand.
The definitive version of this is the one on "Still" just a week or so before he unalived himself. You can hear the stress, despair & barely contained rage in his voice. This is a sanitised, McDonalds cheese version that lacks any of that. Still is why JD are considered dark & gothic, if only for that - but from a musicology POV we have tom-tom heavy drums & melodic bass, doomy vocals... What more do you need?
I have been a fan for over 20 years and only recently this one has begun to make its rise as one of my favourites. The Sound Of Music did this as well a few years ago and Novelty a few years before that. I wonder which one will be the next.

Loved them from the minute I heard their first song. The band played regularly around the clubs in Manchester, uk. They didn't live far from where I do, only about 10 miles. Ian's voice, the best and if you close your eyes, you'd think he was a soul singer. I introduced the band a couple of years ago to my teenage grandsons, who have played guitars, and are very good musians and the lads loved them. Even their friends love the band and most of them couldn't believe they had never heard of them.. Plus they also couldn't believe it that it was grandparents who put the music onto them. Don't know if you have seen the film which was only made a few years ago and joy division, it's called Control. You can get it through prime, Netflix or even u tube. R. I. P Ian and thanks for all the wonderful memories, love you xxxx xxxx

Mine too. This track and JD in general got me through some tough tough times
I remember going into my brothers room and listening to joy division and bowie records dam some really good memories

My fav of closer with decades.
Mine is heart and soul and twenty four hours
mine too. But recently I stopped the album before getting to Decades so as not to cry.
The live version of this on Still is amazing. The way Ian would scream "I PUT MY TRUST IN YOU" is soul piercing.
Great song my sister is deaf and I listen to this song all the time and interprets it in sign language and it’s pretty cool
Crank the volume until she can feel the beat, put on a music visualizer suited to the tone of the song, and sign the words.
You gotta do a Vid
This was the coolest thing ive read in a min - hope you do make a video!
