Never read Lukanette before and I’m a huge supporter of the love square in canon, but this is so beautiful that now I love the idea. Luka is sweet and calm and Marinette is bubbly and anxious. She could definitely use someone to ground her like he can, so I can see the appeal.
Honestly they've got SUCH a good dynamic that was ROBBED for the love square. I wish they expanded on this instead of shipping Luka off to who-knows-where to train with his dad.

While admittedly not my favorite ship, it was a cute story and if she had opened up to him at that point in time, it probably would have been much healthier for her both mentally and emotionally instead of keeping it all bottled in for 2 more seasons. They probably could have had a healthy personal relationship but i feel it would have caused a lot of issues on the super hero side of things. Deeper rifts between her and Cat as he is too emotionally fragile to take this well. Cat would probably see it as a breech in trust, as he did toward the end of season 4, at the very least. His jealousy would have caused problems too.
