2008 Gamba Osaka was hands down the greatest J League team ever assembled to play against one of the most stacked Teams of the 2000s. The only thing missing was a decent goal keeper, which the J League is notorious for the worst goal keeping in the world and Gamba is notorious for always having a bad keeper. Even though we lost the crowd, players and commentators were still excited the fact we scored 3 goals on the best team in Europe. Not to long after this game and the 2010 WC more and more Japanese players were starting to make their way playing in Europe.

こんなチームが日本に来てくれるクラブワールドカップは貴重だったな、しかも日本のチームと戦うっていうね、今でも現地でこの試合見てたときの感動は覚えてるわ。俺がまだ中学生ぐらいの時だったな、ボロクソに負けんだろーなとか思ってたらめちゃくちゃ良い試合してくれてさ。そんでルーニー登場したと思ったら、いきなり活躍しまくりやがってスターって物を見せつけられたんだけど、ガンバが最後に意地を見せてさ。あんな興奮できることは、人生でもそんなに無いよ。ロナウジーニョがクラブアメリカと日本でやったときに、胸トラップからのヒールパスしたんだけどそれと同じくらい感動してたわ。
もう日本でクラブワールドカップ出来ないんよね、悲しいね。
こんなチーム見るには、もう海外旅行するしかないな。

この前年度がACミラン対浦和レッズで守備的なチーム対決で0-1だっただけに、
この時は超攻撃チーム同士の打ち合いが楽しかった。
