Hello Paula, thank you for watching my videos and for your kind feedback. I have some here Recipes: th-cam.com/play/PLhxO2UHFPk3hKvBLcAlIXAO5N-LG6fBs1.html Hope you enjoy them.
Thanks a lot Chimammanda! 😊 It's true they're moist but it doesn't mean they can't be covered. I took a deep dive into a related topic here that you can watch just in case you haven't seen it yet. th-cam.com/video/GDV4AfkHVmY/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for making this video. Should every cake be trimmed before covering? I've noticed that some bakers don't trim the sides of their cake (only the top) yet come out with a smooth finish whereas other tutors make it a law before covering with fondant.
You're most welcome! Thanks for watching. It is very important to do so as it goes a long way in determining the final finishing and outcome of the Cake. You can get away with not trimming the sides of Buttercream cakes as you can fill up the spaces with the buttercream when crumbcoating and no one will notice after decorating but for Fondant, you can't (that's why they make it a law 🙂) else you would have an uneven finish with dents and bulges. And it actually depends on how the cakes turn out, I mean in terms of the sizes and based on the type of pan used. If the layers are uneven at the sides, please trim for a perfect finish. Hope this is clear?
Thank you for sharing your process ma'am. I'm new to fondant cakes and I've been binge-watching your videos. Do you have to bake strong cakes to be able to cover with fondant?
You're most welcome! I haven't seen that done and I won't advise it because it would dry fast and become hard when it sets and what you actually need is something soft that your Buttercream or Fondant can stick to.
Thank you! You can used the size of the pan you want and place on a bigger one, then cut out the size. Example, place an 8" on a 9" or 10" depending on what's available and then cut out an 8" from it.
OK..meaning we can trim oil based cakes too like this... Though I have issues with my my serrated knife cutting my oil based cakes...myb more practice then

Thanks for watching! It's a way of giving structure to cakes by putting dowel Rods in the cake so they don't suffer mishap in transit like sliding layers, broken cakes and so on. You can see an example of dowelling in this video I uploaded recently here th-cam.com/video/V7mszOJt1GY/w-d-xo.html

You can get it from Amazon and Cake shops.

Thanks for this video. Pls do you dowel your buttercream cakes only when it's high like 4 to 5 layers thereabouts?
You're most welcome! Yes, those are typically the kind of cakes I make so I always dowel.
Could you make a video on how to achieve sharp edges on fondant?
Alright, noted, I will work on that.
Um hey! How can i frost the cakes which have slanted walls? I really hope you help me out.
Hi, yes, I believe you can but I can give a better answer if you can help me describe what you mean by slanted walls.
