Great, I adore you, there are too many details in it, thank you for your selfless sharing, you are really great 🌟🌟🌟, I have to praise you every day, awesome!
OK, I almost have this working on a video. Turns out the same method does seem to work for a video clip, or at least almost. Only thing I can't figure out is how to offset the section of video played in each section of the cylinder so that they each play the correct segment and line up. I don't understand how the ramp works and why the keyframe is set to 20, is animation correlated with physical distance somehow?
@@SimonUbsdell Thanks for this video, it's super useful and clear. I'm also looking for a way to wrap video around a cylinder, like Seohko above. Let us know if you've found a way to do that and I'll do the same.
This is the closest I've come to doing this in Motion: th-cam.com/video/lPI2DDSgQoA/w-d-xo.html . There is a project download in the comments so you can get a feel for how it works.
perfect. Thinking of using this technique for lego heads for stop motion. just publish the rotation to adjust. You would think there would be an easier way to wrap an image around an object. I am sure there is in After Effects but ain't nobody got that kind of money!!!!
Simon, you rock. I've learned so much about Motion from your tutorials.
Thanx again Simon! As always an amazing tutorial. You show us there is so much more one can do with Apple Motion then simple text animations!
Great explanation of the math behind the concept - Amazing tutorials Simon
I'm loving it what you do, keep it up, your leading ahead in motion 5, for our TH-cam user, without you I wouldn't know so much, thx always bro peace
Thanks a lot for explaining the math in this build!
Very cool and clever solution but I just can't wrap my head around how you came up with this strange solution. How did you come up with this method?!?
so understanding... thanks Simon...

Seems like the Tiling Offset Filter will offset the video correctly but how do use this in conjunction with the Replicator?!
Could you use this method to create a zoetrope animation or at least something that looks like it?
One could certainly adapt the basic concept but there would be quite a bit more to do to get the real effect. Might be worth a tutorial ...
@@SimonUbsdell YEah!!!! looking forward to it... keep up the awesome work! I see the ideas you post and it always inspires me
Great, Thanks
Love it
Hi Simon! I have some question. I want mapping playing video, not image. but I think this clip method seems to be impossible.. Is there another way?
You're right that this method only works with still images. I don't know of a way of mapping video but it might be possible.

Hi Simon! How would you approach animating for example a human character in Motion?
Thank you for your tutorials! They always give me new ideas :)

Followed your instructions (several times over now) but can’t get the image to turn when the replicator is checked?? Love your work ny the way.
Not sure what the problem would be but if you'd like to email me your project I'd be happy to take a look: simon@tokyo-uk.com.
