I remember the first time I saw Sabya's clothes at a show in Delhi, he was probably showing for the first time and was sharing the booth space with another designer. I didn't know his name then but I saw a beautiful green jacket with the Sabyasachi label on it and I thought - wow this designer is really good! (I wish I'd bought the jacket then - it cost only Rs 4500!!) From sharing a booth to now retailing for a million dollars a day at Bergdorf, what an incredible journey!
‘I negotiated on behalf of India ‘ ‘ I am doing this for my country because my country deserves it’ ! 🇮🇳 In a world where Indians are so quick to put India down to fit in with the west, we have a Sabyasachi ❤ Thank you for being you Sir.
FYI Interview starts from 3:23. It's very irritating when such interviews are prefixed with all the best snippets from the video which are such spoilers for the viewing experience.
The clarify of thought, pride in indian culture and craft and commitment to ethical way of doing business is what makes the brand what it is. Fantastic interview
Your talks and perception is so traditional yet emotional towards the passion and our country...big hatsof to u sir...admirable video Ever...lots of lov frm dubai
Thank you for doing this interview. And thanks for the wisdom. I really hope to see him succeed more and more and achieve more success. ❤Always an admirer
I love everything by Sabyasachi. I wish it was easier to get access to his creations outside India. Hoping he opens another beautiful flagship store on the west coast!
Why is it Sabya that you have stores in New York but not anywhere in South India? As a big fan of your couture, I would love to be able to bring my family to experience your store
He should get invited to IIT, IIM schools in India along with all big universities in the world to talk about his brand and achievements. All youngsters and aspiring entrepreneurs need such master class or mentor. Kudos to him and his vision.
Why limit it to iits and iims. Students and people outside these institutes are not humans? Why should all the knowledhe be the property of some people????? Your comment is offensive
it’s interesting how every question of namrita just feels so repetitive in the sense that it just demands the same kind of praise from sabya about sabya, but he is still able to give us differentiated answers😭
He deserves a padmabhushan award! His pride to put India on the global map, building a brand with integrity and tenacity to not give up and dream big is amazing. Inspiration to the next generation of Indians to replicate his template.
Looking at his dresses,it's all over done, over the top including their price, meant only for film stars, millionaires and celebrities. I read once that his mother asked him who buys these outfits. Not for ordinary people, who have to work not sit and bephotographed to put on their instagram pages. Ask him to design one ordinary outfit with elegance.
After saying that he is doing it for his country he says that he is not building a brand for India but a global brand. This is contradictory. Nationalism sells in India hence everyone needs to throw this in but they have global ambitions. Are the clothes for Indians or is brand India for sale abroad?
The lady lost me at 8mins 30secs. With that knowledge and pre-conceived notions about a textile, stitching methods and fabric rich area of the country...that dressed the entire creme de la creme of Europe....she calls herself a journalist !!! A fashion journalist that too. It's a pity. If she thinks fashion is restricted to Mumbai and Delhi, she should stop and start basic learning about the diverse and rich fashion of each state of this vibrant country that India is. There's no room for foolish statements anymore. And there's no excuse in the name of humor. Alongside herself she has ruined the credibility of the Wire as well.
What nonsense you have to show your tax returns to buy the brand. Every luxury brand you have all kind of questionable wealthy people flaunting it. Sabya is a great brand but this much arrogance is lame. There are many really great craft brands in India.
Why should only a French brand charge 5 lakhs for a hand bag. Luxury brands represent the country and culture abroad. There is space for everyone in diverse India. You are like those people who moan when they see a Michelin Indian restaurant in New York sell dosa for 30 dollars instead of being proud that the cuisine is making its place at the top end.
@ my point is not about luxury brands. But him saying people have to show how they earned money and earned money in a clean way ( tax files ) to buy his damn stuff. Ridiculous. As if all the Sabya customers have shown how they earned their money. That’s the arrogance I meant. At the end of the day it’s clothes. This is not a philanthropic endeavour.

He is such a proud nationalist, even before it was " in" to be one. I may or may not buy his fashion, but I am so proud of him, and so inspired by him
Beautiful inspiring interview ❤

The man and his wisdom ❣️
it’s interesting how every question of namrita just feels so repetitive in the sense that it just demands the same kind of praise from sabya about sabya, but he is still able to give us differentiated answers😭
But i also do have to say, the interviewer had grace and KNOWLEDGE which a lott of interviewers today seem to lack.
@@prakhargupta5210 she lets him speak , rare quality in interviewers today
