  • @evanwilliams6923
    @evanwilliams6923 ปีที่แล้ว +14

I loved how Lana was actually suspicious of Clark. I like how she even mentions how "open" the Kent family is to Martha. Trying to fish for a reaction. It made her character seem intelligent. She continues this for a few more episodes before they unfortunately drop it. And her line of, "you can't hide out here forever" was perfect. In the coming seasons the Clark/Lana drama gets over done, but this was the first big scene where Clark lies to Lana about his secret, and with the perfect tension between the two you can see why they continued it, even if they did probably overdue it in the coming seasons.

  • @nickhydier1201

This was always one of my favorite openers in the series. The sheer scope of the craziness of the tornadoes and their aftermath was just epic. As someone who's done background acting for a number of productions, I really appreciate Michael speaking out for us. When direction is really dismissive of us, it's hard to care about their silly little show because it seems not to matter whether we do a creditable job or not.
But when cast and crew all care deeply about what they're doing, that care just carries over to background effortlessly.

This discussion of the episode regarding the direction is exactly 100% why it would be awesome if your guests were in on the talk from start to finish of the episode. Season 1 to 5 are definitely my personal favorites, but Season 2 has a special place... all of the Martha's pregnancy and miscarry arch was beautiful; Clark's freak out and attempt to destroy the ship; Jonathan's speech about responsibility and how you have to live with the consequences of your actions really hit me. 15:20 - Why didn’t Clark super speed around town to check on others? Interesting point, I like to think that he develops this scope of responsibility as he develops as a character. First his scope is small, his family and friends, his school, his town, metropolis then in season 9 it starts to become the whole planet that he checks up on.

But like y'all said the series wouldn't have lasted that long if he told Lana, Lex etc this early so I get it. Clark became the king of gaslighting because of it tho 😅and the other side of that was him feeling alone. Clark was definitely a bad liar and didn't want to lie, he was following what his parents told him to do : lie to protect his secrets.

Regarding Lana’s acting like being too curious and making Clark jealous when it was not necessary. She just acted like a child. Whitney’s death made her realize she was wrong. So at the end of the ‘Visage’ Lana promised to Clark not to be so persistent anymore and kept her word until season 3 when he left not only her but his parents too. After that she started again asking him to tell her his secret because she didn’t want such situation to happen again. Remember the end of the season 9? When there was a threat to Clois relationship, Lois insisted on being honest with her too.
Returning to Lana. Such moments like ‘Dichotic’ and the end of season 2 made her more mature and later she made Clark to be jealous only if it was necessary and asked to go out herself (for example, at the end of ‘Slumber’ she offered Clark to swim in the lake together).

I love the way the storm raging on the outside is highlighted by the storm raging within Lex. The storm on the outside causes chaos and loss that people ultimately come back from...changed forever. The same with the storm ex fought on the inside. It changed not only him on the inside but also on the outside with the relationship he has with everyone. Temporarily for the good but....eventually the darkness that raged will win. Find this a really good piece of writing.

Just started season 2 a few days ago, i've been watching every episode before bed. Not sure what brought be back to it but its so refreshing to see a series that isn't constantly trying to get you to think a certain way and just enjoy the story take place.

I love that this season opening episode was basically a microcosm of the entirety of Season 2. There's obviously one episode in this season that stands above the rest (and I'm eagerly looking forward to the podcast for it), but this one was a banger.

I remember when season 1 ended. And being in agony, TV agony, waiting for the season 2 premiere. And it DID NOT DISAPPOINT. And my favorite scene. Was at the end in the loft. When Lana confronts Clark about seeing him in the truck. Great scene between both of them. "Remember Clark, you can't hide up here forever" - Lana

Yes! Finally it's here. Thank you so much Michael. Tom and Ryan. I can't stress enough how much I have been enjoying this.
This isn't necessarily criticism, just think of it as a suggestion. Whoever edits these should annotate what episode you're getting ready to watch. That way people know what episode to be relevant about in their phone-in questions.

One of the coolest parts of this podcast with the two stars of the show is the inside information of the reality of being an actor on set. The workplace drama knows no boundaries, and it's interesting to hear how it affected these actors. The more I hear about it, the less of a "charmed life" being an actor seems to be to those outside of it.

I love that from Lionel’s perspective he thinks calling Lex son will help him after he’s been a Dick to him the whole time but Lex still cares for his father no matter how stranged there relationship is at this time. John scheinder killed it this whole episode with Nixon then Lex coming to save John & Clark at the end was great & then begins Lionel’s blind arc 😂

In Australia it aired and sold on the dvds as s2e1 best conclusion to a cliff hanger of any show so intense grest acting poor Martha trying not to fall apart, John willing to de for his child, the Clarke and Lex moment that line "Thats the second time you hesitated today Lex" and Lexs expression perfect so many brilliant performances 🌹🌹🌹 best scene is the truck in the twister save as it wrapped apart felt so real

The reason Clark didn't tell Lana his secret is because the meteors in the meteor shower killed her parents and when Clark knew that in S1 he didn't know how Lana would react. That's why he took so long to tell her.

Common writers you should've watched Superman: TAS with how Clark shared his secret to Lana and she never phased. She already had a crush on him.
