    I have to say that I am still completely loving this light. It is the best tool I've ever used for finding tool marks, paint "issues" and things like that on walls. It's bright. The color temp is right. It's got a very broad beam. You can get it right down on the wall and make problems pop. It fits in my hands really nicely. And even on high it runs so long I haven't really noticed when it needs a new battery. I think this is one of the most useful hand lights I've ever owned and I've been a light fan for decades. Big thumbs up.

      @@elmaromero8585 Absolutely, it would work brilliantly. Sorry, no pun intended. Get the light close to the surface of the wall and you will see ALL of the imperfections. It will be obvious where you need to sand, or fill. You can do this with other lights, but this is bright and even and a really true to color, which makes this much easier and more effective.

    I dropped mine in a 5 gallon bucket full of car wash soap and water. Still works perfectly 👍🏽 I use it outdoors here in Seattle where it’s always raining! Ever since I’ve dropped in that bucket a little rain water doesn’t bother me lol I would definitely use it all day outside in the rain 👍🏽

    I'm a mobile mechanic so......I'm gonna use it outdoors. I don't leave my lights outside in the 🌧️ but the do get occasionally wet just not soaked. Never have a problem with any Milwaukee light except when I dropped them repeatedly. USB flood light still works but belt clip broke, magnets gone but it still work so I keep it as a backup.

    There are a ton of Milwaukee lights that say in the manual do not use outdoors, including that M18 light you have there on the table.
    Nothing new about that.
    I have 3 of these lights and they are awesome!
    Couldn't be happier.

    Its IP54 rated so the manual should have stated don't use in wet or splash prone conditions.

    I was skeptical about this light but when I used it for the first time i was actually impressed. 700lm was enough output of light to see what youre doing comfortable without being blinded. Good runtime with 6.0 battery. Portability and weight is great i can just toss in the backpocket of my safety vest and have it handy at all times and much more versatile than a flashlight. Would be great if these went on sale from time to time so i can grab another one

    The reason for Milwaukee's "indoor use only" warning is simple: temperature and water. This is a common point of confusion - why can't I use my IPxx rated device outdoors? IP rating says _nothing_ about weather resistance. In this case, IP54 means: level-5 solid ingress protection (small amounts of dust may enter), and level-4 liquid ingress (only splashing water allowed). Now you can see why this thing (or indeed any device with IP54) may not fare well outdoors. Rain (or snow) means water will definitely get inside . Cold weather will cause condensation on the electronics which leads to corrosion. Left out on a sunny day? Circuitry is fried. The list goes on...
    TLDR: don't take an IP54 device and use it outdoors, unless the manufacturer claims it is weather-proof.

    • @MrSupernova111
      @MrSupernova111 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, all of that may be true but I think most of us are going to use it outside as needed with the possible exception of rain and extreme cold. I don't see why someone would have this light in direct sunlight. Its a service light and its going to get used as people need it. I agree that it may get damaged in outdoor use but I think with some moderate caution occasional outdoor use should be fine. To clarify, I'm talking about occasional outdoor use and not daily outdoor use like using it as a headlamp for a golf cart.

    • @johnfaustus1
      @johnfaustus1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrSupernova111 My point was, Milwaukee says its IP54, and I'm sure they sent the device in for certification - but that doesn't mean anything about outdoor use. They have also clearly tested it themselves outdoors, and have told you not to do anything with it outdoors, else don't call them on warranty.
      In other words, do what you want at your own peril.

    • @MrSupernova111
      @MrSupernova111 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnfaustus1 . Makes sense. I think what I should have said is that moderate risk is acceptable for the majority of users. But I understand why Milwaukee puts the warning in the instructions.

      I’d love to wait for it to go on sale but I always find my self needing a small compact magnetic light for working in my garage automotive/tinkering. I see so many uses for this. And better than trying to place my flash light lol. I know that it’d make seeing stuff so much easier and not struggling using a flashlight I actually think it’s fine at $60 but $40 does sound better lol. Plus I have a lot of m12 tools so have plenty of the m12 batteries. I was looking at other m12/m18 they’re more expensive and look a lot bulkier. In my opinion this light is perfect for what I need. Just yesterday I had to use my flash light in and around my truck so I got fed up and order this m12 light.

    The last light that went viral, the wand-shaped light from Harbor Freight, just kept getting the price jacked up until nobody would buy it. I doubt this one drops much or sees many sales until there's something better out there. Why is it so hard to make a flexible bright light that has a strong magnet. For $60, you can easily afford to use neodymium.

      @@WorkshopAddict I just watched your review of the M12 straight die grinder 👍👍
      This too is another good straight forward review. Unfortunately this isn't yet available in Australia.
      (edit) I am an engineer the IP54 is definitely suitable for outdoor, but is NOT a do anything you like. In the IP System the first digit is for solids like dust. The second digit is for liquids and the bigger the number the better the protection. NOTE: IP ratings mainly apply to industrial enclosures. I work in electrical and control systems and the IP rating for my work is very important. Voltage and water don't play well together.
      *For this light.* The 5 is for limited dust which means the light is NOT fully sealed against dust. So if you use it outdoors in dusty conditions its likely that over time it will get crap inside it and possibly fail. No problem just clean the crap of it after you use it. Its a tool look after it.
      The 4 is for "Protected from water spray from any direction." A 2 in the second digit is for vertical droplets so long as its at better than a 15degree angle. So being in the rain should not bother it so long as the water can run off of it. I wouldn't use it exposed to that torrential heavy rain I have seen in places like Texas. And I wouldn't use it when the rain and wind push water into every nook and cranny. But if your playing golf in those conditions your crazy and get what you deserve for it.
      Cheers.

      I've spent like 200 dollars on garbage flashlights that stopped working in the first 6-12 months, and even when they did work, rarely had enough battery life to make it through an oil change. The one I have now is bright and lasted a few years, and I got it hella on sale for 20 bucks... but its super awkward unless you're on the ground and only has about 3 hours of life on low. When it finally quits, I'm buying a brand name one for sure.

    For $38 get a Coast flashlight 5" long 1" wide,1" wide at the lens, Body is thinner, it comes with a Zithion-X rechargeable battery through USB, or can also use 3 AAA rechargeable batteries(optional), (a 4 pack of top of the line AAA rechargeable batteries cost around $6, they hold 500-1000 charges, a top of the line AAA charger $15), the flashlight has a clip on the body and you can attach a lanyard to it, 1000 lumens high(3.25 hours), 610 lumens medium(5.5 hours), 280 lumens low(11 hours), these three light outputs cover almost everything you need. Milwaukee can't hold a candle to Coast 👌👌👌
    In fact JUST ONE M12 2.0 battery is $64, almost twice the price of the coast flashlight 😳😳😳 M12 4.0 battery $90 😳 oh and don't forget the charger 👌

    The instruction for the M12 Spotlight say the same thing "Do not use Outdoors", which is bizarre since that's probably the use a person would buy it for!
    Also there is a warranty disclaimer
    "This warranty is not valid in the following situations
    a) When the product is used in a different manners from the end-user guide or instruction manual.
    b) When the conditions of use are not normal."
    Of course one might ask what are "normal conditions"
    Sounds as if Milwaukee is providing itself with a means to say "No Warranty Service" regardless of the 5 year warranty .
    All of this Milwaukee Warranty/User Guide mumbo jumbo might just convince some potential purchasers to find another vendor, perhaps a vendor a bit more honest about providing a real warranty for the product and its intended use.
