Well, the cat was pretty interested in the track. I like that the set has a gate with a counter on top so you know how many rounds your car can do. Hope you showcase more of your older track sets in the future.
One saturday after losing several ebay auctions, on sunday I went to a local vintage toy store and asked the hot wheel guy if he had any track. He showed me a box with track that just came in. I left with that set plus 4 ramps, 4 loops, a dragchute piece of track, some other misc goodies and a HUGE smile on my face because he only wanted the gold camero chase car from the black & gold set! Hell I was bidding up to $120.00 on ebay the night before! Definitely one of my best hot wheels days. Awesome cat, we have to watch ours closely or he'll try and stick his paw in the booster while it's running. Great video, more vintage sets please. Subscribing.
I remember having that set as a kid and our Daschaund would grab the cars from the track and run off with them. Never knew at the time she was running off with future investments! Everytime she heard the Supercharger start up she would run in the room and stare at the track. Your cat reminded me of that memory. What a great cat!
Yes, when the vintage Super-Chargers are slower than you had hoped it’s best to shorten the track. If you look inside at the foam disc you might see grit, grime and hair which will slow down the spinning. I’ve cleaned a few of mine and found that helps considerably. Plus cleaning the battery connections might give a few more “Bolts” of electricity to the motor. I’ve learned through trial to tape down the curves and track to the carpet. As for the side walls of the 2 ft track they have various heights. You have the low wall which aren’t great for motorized running. I use the high wall track for Super-Charger and Rod Runner action racing. The low walls are perfect for gravity drag racing. Hope that helps. Great set love mine. Thanks again for subscribing to my channel. I have another vintage redline drag race scheduled for Saturday. Hope you catch it. Rob
Powdered graphite on the spindles of the foam wheel can help considerably as well as replacing the foam with new (maybe window weatherstripping foam?), but a lot of times its just the plastic is filed down from so much use and the wheels have too much side-to-side play. I have a vintage one and it rattles like a shopping cart with a broken wheel.
that was a nice find. Very hard to find stuff like that in England. Love your track, love your channel. Me and the boys will be back for more right after the break 👍🏼 1 million likes.
If you take a power suply with matching voltage, and use that to power the track. Or use an adjustable voltage power pack and use that as a speed control. In fact i have a lamp with a pedal that applies more or less power to brighten n dim. That may work but as long as you match the current ac/dc. Then wire it in the batter port. Then you vluld apply more or less voltage as needed
Fun video. You are right about the old track sidewall height. Orange Hot Wheels tracks from 1968 and 1969 have low sidewalls. I use tracks from 1970 and 1971 for most of my videos because the sidewall height is quite a bit higher. I am guessing that the advent of Sizzlers in 1970 prompted Mattel to change the track sidewall height.
Thank you for that info, I will have to examine my hoard of vintage orange track that I have elsewhere (purchased for the outdoor pool videos of several years back)... Thanks for the comment, and I must say I very much enjoy your channel and videos.
Although this is an old video, a bit of info for you: there are 2 types of strip track as the early stuff has short walls & the later version has taller walls (Im assuming those were introduced in the Sizzler sets) I had purchased a few track sets & a box of about 60 strips - I sorted out all the tall wall track so I can build every advertised track set - the taller walls do help keep cars on the track but it likely won't make a difference with those later superchargers unless you make the tracks longer
I was age 11 in 1969. Mowed yards for my family at $3 a pop for several family members. Had saved up about $40 when I spotted this very set at K-mart priced at $32 as I recall. Now, I cared nothing about the supercharger boosters. One of the four cars in the set was the Custom 36 Ford in spectraflame purple. I had been searching for that car everywhere on the pegs with no luck. Proving my HW addiction began decades ago - I parted with the $32 of my hard earned stash to make the purchase. Think I actually used the superchargers only a couple of times.
I had that same set up . But my nephew use to set it up and launch the cars from the floor up to the window sill . My room was on the second floor. Them card would fly out the window then we have to spend the rest of the afternoon looking for them. Never did find my gold colored Rodger dodger.
Nice track set. My two year old loves your kitty, he want to know his name? And is wondering why he is black? We have a blond/yellow cat. He is too funny.
Wtffor quitting fool around . you need to set a race track like Nurburgring or Le Mans . The kitty is thinking "vintage piece my ass . i'm gonna pounce on one of those fast moving mice pretty soon ."
Glad to see you having some fun! Cool cat! 👻🤙

Nice to see a vintage track set in action.
I like the graphics on the ‘69 super charger houses (or whatever they are called...lol), they would make a great display piece!

Good video. Nice to see the old track sets once in a while.
