Y'all have helped me so much with giving chunks my box turtle a nice outdoor home! I try and make it as natural at possible! She has plants a hollow log I found in the woods and a little pond. And a sun spot! She has been outside for 3 years now, including winter, and is doing great! I have had her for 12 years and thrilled to have found Y'alls channel!!!!
Great treat this Sunday morning to see the tortoises start being moved outside for the summer . Here in southern Ontario it will be another 2 months before my Red Footed tortoise is moved to her outdoor enclosure . I can’t let her watch this video or she will be jealous. ❤
Loved how the giant went over to say hi to the smaller one. Then when all the Tunisian guys headed right in to the shelter was amazing. What wonderful animals these are with amazing keepers! They are very spoiled. ❤❤❤❤❤
You certainly do work hard to give the tortoises their best and most natural lives. ❤ I can see the satisfaction and fulfillment it gives you to see your content tortoises and it’s a beautiful thing. The world needs more champions for the animals like you and Casey. ❤
I've read that European Fan Palms can take snow. Are there any types of Hibiscus that can grow in your area? I'd laugh if the Tortoises think: Was the Human drunk when he built these walls!?
Had me a little concerned at first when you kept saying you needed to build steps for the tortoises, relieved to see you meant ramp, lol. Love the new cold frame houses for the tortoises, what do you waterproof them with so they last longer? Chris, thanks for taking us along, enjoyed the mini class.🐢🌿❤️👍
I was so happy to get the email confirmation that your Otis plushie has been funded. First…congratulations, and 2nd……Yay! I can’t wait to get mine (I think in July)🐢❤️🐢
Go to the pharmacy and pick up IVY dry, AMAZING stuff. Here you have to ask for it at the counter because,.. I don't know what people could possibly use it for but they do! But use and the Ivy blisters will dry in no time!! My brother can look at it from 25 feet and its covering 98% of his body in ten minutes. It is his saving grace!! Also SO stoked for this outdoor fun for them!!!! Panzie our horsefield has been going out for walks now in Ohio since it has been warmer. She follows the bright jibbits on my crocs and we educate anyone who stops to fancy over her :)
Hey Chris, have you considered seeding the tortoise pasture with edible native plants like dandelion, plantain, amaranth, violets, etc? Might cut down on food costs as these plants will self seed and be perennial.
Thank you Chris…this gave me a smile and a bit of a lift today. My beloved Husband of 48 wonderful years died at 3:10 AM Saturday April 13, and though I knew it was coming…I am still devastated. It will take time to heal, but for now…you are helping.🖤🇨🇦
LOVED this video. Chris..I'm feeling your poison ivy! I'm allergic so when I get it, it covers my entire body and I look like a zombie! Caladryl, benadryl by mouth and if really bad..prednisone.! Amazing to see these animals able to move themselves into a safe space and get warm ! Great job...great video😇❤️🐢🐢🐢
There is something I can take away from this: there's a proper way to hoard turtles and tortoises 😂 Really, you guys are awesome teachers and stewards of wildlife❣️
@10:33 -- Yes, Folks... They look grumpy even when they're juveniles! The only large tortoise I've seen that doesn't have a constantly grumpy expression is the Aldabra. They also seem to be the most personable among the large tortoise species, too. Sulcatas can definitely be ornery!
awwww I just LOVE MICKEY, she is my fav! And i guess it must be yours too! as she was your wedding present and your first 'kid' before your actual girls were born 😉 hehe 😚🐢
Awesome thing getting some of the big tortoises outside and what a great set up . I absolutely love the way your guys yard looks and yeah definitely have to stay clear of the poison ivy 🤷♂️
We have a 2 year old baby sulcata Her in WV. thanks for info! he is just starting to be allowed outside when we are in the grass ( still to little to be left alone) Awesome Video thanks !!
It's really heartwarming to see the lengths you guys go to give these beautiful animals a comfortable home. I really enjoy watching your videos. Happy home, happy turtles and tortoises. 👍👍🙂
Are you going to plant some large blades, plants they won’t eat, etc. and trees, I know the tortoises at Kamp Kenan love to snuggle under the plants and enjoy the micro climates. Also will they eat all the grasss, I often wonder if they should be rotated so the grass lives. ❤❤🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢❤❤❓
I just subscribed. Just happened to stumble across your vvideo.I'm realling enjoying watching the turtle's. The educational side is extremely interesting. I'm 61 and you're teaching me things I never knew. This old man learned more the last 8 minutes than I have in the last 8years. Thank's for what you do
We’ve been raising a female red (cherry)footed tortoise that is about 5 years old now and been with us that long. We live in southern Georgia and are upscaling her enclosure and I’ve always felt that the temps in the summer down here I could leave her outside at nights. Wife on the other hand doesn’t. But with you being in jersey do yours do ok outside on the cooler nights?
What plants can tortoises eat and what plants are not safe for them to eat! I have blue and varigated hosta and a pink azalea as well as rosemary, lemon balm, and bearded irises in my fenced-in garden. I want to make sure she isn't poisoned and has a large area to roam in.
Fairly new to the channel and loving it. You mentioned a few videos back you have sulcatas onsite. Is there a reason they don’t go with the others or get as much airtime? I had one for almost 20 years and they are my favorite tortoise breed.
I have a question/suggestion wouldn't it be beneficial to put some sort of temporary heat resistant blanket over the top half of the doorway to reduce the amount of heat escaping?
00:30 i've heard of pets* starting to be more like their owners, but I think you might be experiencing the opposite 😂 *charges, etc. Idk if he considers all the animals under his care pets
Hey Chris hey Casey you guys should ask Kenan for some of the I think there's no policy prickly pear caucus the ones without the thorns and plant them around your yard for food for the tortoises. the reason why I suggest them is because prickly pear cactus is naturally survived as far north as Rhode Island There are some in Rhode Island on Plum Island on on the eastern side and west side of Buzzards Bay In Rhode Island growing wild naturally. so think if they can grow up here in Rhode Island then they can easily grow in southern New Jersey and it's a free food source for your tortoises. If you can't get them from Canada you can always go to a what do you call it hispanic grocery store that carries the new Pollock's cactus and all you do is just lay it down on some sand or dirt and it will sprout and then you just plant it and off it goes and then what do you want to harvest them you just pop off a couple of pads and give them to the tortoises and they will love it and if you can plant some hibiscus and some mulberry pill trees they will love that also.
Y'all have helped me so much with giving chunks my box turtle a nice outdoor home! I try and make it as natural at possible! She has plants a hollow log I found in the woods and a little pond. What part of the country are you in?

Hi! My redfoot in Quebec also can barely wait until she gets to be outside :)
Loved how the giant went over to say hi to the smaller one. Then when all the Tunisian guys headed right in to the shelter was amazing. What wonderful animals these are with amazing keepers! They are very spoiled. ❤❤❤❤❤

You know Mickey is happy and healthy by seeing those beautiful growth rings! All of your hard work definitely shows.
You certainly do work hard to give the tortoises their best and most natural lives. ❤ I can see the satisfaction and fulfillment it gives you to see your content tortoises and it’s a beautiful thing. The world needs more champions for the animals like you and Casey. ❤

I'd laugh if the Tortoises think:

Just yesterday I thought how are you and your turtles🐢🐢🐢🐢. Nice spring is coming🌱🌿🌷🌻🐞
I think a video about what you do to protect your outdoor tortoises (from predators, heat, etc.) would be great!
I am getting my Hermann's tortoise pretty soon! Thank you for selling them.

Have you ever had a turtle or tortoise show up that you have never seen before?
Yay Spring's back Tortoise on parade.
Fascinating.
Ah poison ivy! My dad is a civil engineer. We know it’s Spring when he gets poison ivy from getting his measurements at job sites!

Y'all need a glass garage door on the side of this so you can just ooen the door
Please make the ramp with sides so they do not flip over.
What kind of wood do you recommend for your enclosure walls?

I have 2 African Sulcutas, how high should my pen fenches be? They are still babies, 8 months old, but iam planning
Is the GST channel pfp a Tunisian tortoise shell? It looks like it could be, to me. Amazing work, as always❣️🐢
Love it ❤
I love it.
Amazing
Do they ever just leave? I'm curious about that.
What company did you get your cold frames from for your Greek torts? I have been trying to find something like that forever!
He mentions the name towards the end of the video.
My Russian tortoise loves her "showers". 😍
I have a question/suggestion wouldn't it be beneficial to put some sort of temporary heat resistant blanket over the top half of the doorway to reduce the amount of heat escaping?
Io adoro le tartarughe❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Do tortoises sweat? I'm thinking of dogs heat regulating with their paws.
00:30 i've heard of pets* starting to be more like their owners, but I think you might be experiencing the opposite 😂
*charges, etc. Idk if he considers all the animals under his care pets
Awesome build. Can you share some links to the different cold frames that you use
