I think this interview was very important for Messi to hear because there's been a lot of pressure and negativity coming his way despite trying his best tournament after tournaments. It lifted off some of the the things weighing on his mind I imagine because for example, that Netherland game really got to him. I felt touched watching that interview and you can tell, Messi felt it too. The love for him has been conditional before and in his last WC, this interview showed that some people do love him unconditionally despite the results of previous WCs.

But without doubt, Messi is perhaps the greatest footballer I have seen. I've seen Maradona in his peak and while I agree era's are different and to compare players from different generations would be a travesty, but in my humble opinion, he is simply put the greatest footballer we have seen.
