Money is more discreet in Sotogrande and always has been! Can be an advantage depending on your way of living!

Sotogrande is more discreet and was the best kept secret! It is the number one choice for spanish elite along with baleric islands!

How does La Zagaleta in Marbella rank, in comparison to Sotogrande. Thank you

Hi Johann - we´ve actually recorded several videos comparing La Zagaleta to other areas, including Sotogrande. - www.youtube.com/@CloudNineSpain/search?query=zagaleta

For your information: sotogrande was founded in 1962 by Joseph McMicking and the Zobel family from the Philippines 🇵🇭. So more Asian money than American! However Joseph McMicking learnt some of his resort knowledge on the west coast.

Can you comment on what percentage of the population in Sotogrande are foreigners?

I don’t have stats but from personal experience I’d say at least 1/3 of Soto’s population is foreign born.

      @@AidPast that’s quite a bit

Sotogrande has nothing to do with Marbella! Both areas are interesting and both offer a different life and style.

Difficult to compare as Sotogrande is a resort which Marbella is not. For security reasons and relaxed & nice living, I would choose Sotogrande

I didn't know that about Sotogrande, that it was started by an American. Makes perfect sense now. Every time we go there, I always tell everyone how it reminds me of Naples, Florida. Anyway, I love Sotogrande, but the idea of investing in Costa del Sol has completely left me. Costa de la Luz is where it's at if you truly want to buy something with privacy that will stay that way for years to come. Beaches are infinitely nicer, too. Schools shouldn't even be considered. In this day and age, anything short of homeschooling is subjecting your kids to Marxist and Alphabet indoctrination.

Let’s Face it!! Ask any estate agent , they will laugh at your comment Jackie. Gibraltar might not be for everyone’s taste, but I live in Gibraltar, and I have everything, city life, shops, bars, night clubs, two marinas, history, character, an airport close by, clubs and associations, walking distance to everything, free public transport excellent health service, British based laws, no inheritance tax, the multiculturalism, Tarifa very close by. Sotogrande it’s very beautiful, great in summer, but so boring in winter and you need the car for everything.

I would not campare the two. Marbella is now an urban dwelling successful community! Sotogrande a discreet quiet non urban environment! Weather is irrelevant compared to Northern Europe.
