This is the song for the season. But we live in an age where depth is not a big issue. It is the aesthetis . These words should encourage us though this pandemic
The Hymn of the Lutheran Church, written and composed by Martin Luther. Based on Psalm 46. We celebrate the Reformation on the last Sunday in October. October 31 is Reformation Day. That is the day that he nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Church in Wittenberg, Germany. The next day was November 1, which is All Saints' Day. He knew that everyone attending services that day would see them. Back then, churches were the Information Centers as all happenings were posted on their doors.
@@SweetHeart-fd4vj This has been the Lutheran's anthem since I can remember. One of our members grew up in another Lutheran Church and her youth group's anthem was O Christians League Together. Don't know if it is any of the hymnals today, though.
@@mkl62 I you are Lutheran - or even in a Traditional Christian church - it was sung this last Sunday - pull all the stops out on the organ and let her rip!
The very first Hymn that I ever learned in the Junior Choir at Highland Presbyterian Church in Winston Salem, NC. I was only 8-years old, and my choir director's name was Mrs. Mize. I will never forget!
Although an Orthodox Jew from L.A, I love this proffering from Lincoln, Nebraska. I discovered this beautiful chanson years ago and fell in love with its dignity, solemnity and steady reverence for THE ALMIGHTY. Baruch HASHEM!
Interesting that the organist, in his intro, used the original melody and rhythm, but when the choir began, the melody and rhythm changed to the "easy" version. :)
The battle hymn of the reformation.... Such a spiritual hymn played in such a spiritually dead church. It's a great shame most in that gathering don't believe the words they are singing about the King of Glory.
Beautiful singing. This song is the anthem in my house. We sing it a lot when we are facing difficult times and the man who fights for us brings us victory.
What have you done to the rhythm? I can't imagine that this only was caused by translation. And where have the pauses between the lines have gone? But besides this nicely sung.
the reformation wars are over....nobody but Satan won.....I'd like to point that out to our Catholic brethren, when they wax all cranky about Martin Luther.
@@oldhardmanjohnson6585 brother i am a Roman Catholic from Asia. I do have a question. I cannot help but view all these Catholic-Protestant conflicts a white European power struggle with a lot of political princes entering the fray and using the spiritual arguments for a fight and division. why should non white Christian populations participate in this conflict? we love Christ. we want us all to be united. we do not want to remember the historic splits that happened in Europe among white Christians. why should we in asia, Africa and elsewhere preserve those conflicts and separations? i love my protestant brothers as my own. i will give my life for them to protect them even amid persecution. i am sorry if i sound cynical about europe but this is my honest view, my brother.
This is the real way that great classic hymns should always be sung. With a full choir!!
And a strong organ
I totally agree and especially like the good, brisk tempo. So often it is played and sung like a dirge.
This organ player is the true heart of this choir -amazing! Thank you!
Thank you for this wonderful song. In these times of pending strife it reminds us of who’s hand is on the tiller. Our Lord.
This is beautiful and amazing 🥰🥰 An awesome rendition ❤️❤️
The belief in something profoundly kinder, greater, stronger and wiser than mankind on this Earth is being lost, and it must not be lost.

Decided to binge on a few beautiful hymns. This is one on the top of my list. I love the arrangement. Thank you so much.

GOD is our refuge and strength, a present help in times of trouble.... Psalms 46.

Amen and Praise Jesus Christ from Taiwan 🙌
I just love this rendition
God bless all HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE ❤ 😊
My friend Gene Robinson had nothing but praise for your community.
Wonderful chorus and arrangement of the timeless hymn
This was awesome. Thank you God Almighty for making me a Christian. Jesus is Lord!

Doyle, know that your messiah has come - Who? Jesus, God's only begotten Son.
Accept Him as your Savior and see how your life will change.
Praise be to God!
thank you......one of my favorites
Amen from Gabon !!🙏🙏
and the best part is IT'S TRUE....if we know and follow Him.
What a choir! Wow 🥰
One of my favorite hymns.
The bible says"the battle belongs to the lord"
Jesus is only way to salvation and the only way to eternal life
Interesting that the organist, in his intro, used the original melody and rhythm, but when the choir began, the melody and rhythm changed to the "easy" version. :)
Always, most congregations just can’t handle it
Ah, but in the third verse he and the choir switched to the syncopated version. I like it.
I learned one line a bit differently... "with craft and dreadful might, he arms himself to fight..'
Beautiful 🔥🔥🔥
Lord Sabboath his name
From age to age the same

Hey, take it easy. Let God judge each of us.
How do you know? And we're all going before the same Judge.

Good rendition until the funky non traditional arrangement ruins the majesty and gravitas of this great hymn.
