I'm John a DEBT FREE Millennial, an expat in China, an educator, an entreprenuer and investor. I’ve been living and working in China for over 13 years. I’m working on reaching financial freedom so I can retire early abroad.
Here on TH-cam I talk about international living. I hope I can help you reach a better understanding of what it's like to live abroad so you can decide if living abroad is for you.
This channel takes you through my journey of living abroad as well as how I invest in order to reach financial freedom so I can retire aborad. I share all of this in hopes that it helps you in some way.

I gave ChatGPT the parameters of "Central China", "population roughly 6 million", and "near Zhengzhou" and it yielded Luoyang (130 km from Zhengzhou) and Xiangyang (380 km from Zhengzhou). Congrats on your new chapter in life. :)
Smart hahahaaja
Many expats in Xi'an. Enjoy your time in China
Congratulations and good luck
Thanks
I wish yo clear blue skies, good health (of course) and, most of all, happiness. B xx
Thanks, that's very nice of you!
Been in Dali now for two months, just got my Q visa, just had my medical for my residence permit, good luck with your move..Peace and JaYoe
Good luck on your journey
Thank you 🙏
Congrats. I was a terrible English Teacher but a great PE Teacher. You're gonna love it!
I hope so. My current job been driving crazy.
My guess is Luoyang. Congrats on the new role.
Thanks 🙏
Those kids are lucky to have a beast like you as a PE teacher
I think you're making a mistake.
I've lived in Zhengzhou for a long time because my wife has a high paying corporate job. I'd have moved to South China otherwise. The work culture and regulations are very strict in Henan.
Our local teachers have been doing 70 hour work weeks for a long time, they've even put up the hours for foreign teachers within the last few years.
More pollution and very few foreigners (more xenophobia), probably because it's far from the border. You don't look young either and many of the schools are ageist.
Now is quite possibly the worst time ever to be changing job anyway. The education market is in huge trouble and in the future a lot of people are going to be lucky to have any teaching job.
People should be branching outside of teaching altogether if they want to survive what is to come in the future.
Doesn’t matter to me. If I don’t like it I’ll just leave. No big deal.
hey John, followd your for months and I am from Luoyang, good luck and enjoy your life! Henan Province is quite a place that has great potential in the future (most populous in China) and I think you made the right choice, wish a great success there.
Tanks a lot, I'll update my journey as soon as I get started
👍👍👍
Congrats and looking forward to the vlogs in your new city !
Thanks, looking forward to exploring it and sharing it with ya'll
there are logistic companies who can transport your car to the new city, you can put all your things in the car, save a lot of shipping cost. All the best.
I’ll just drive. Road trip 😃
Good luck! You can also get an online masters degree, one class at a time without breaking the bank. This may get you into real international schools without the drama, don’t know. Again, good luck with your new job!
I have a masters degree and I’ve worked at “real international schools “ in the past.
Cool John, your environment makes a huge difference. Yay🎉
Yeah , looking forward to the change
Good on you for making the jump. Its important to follow your passion.
Yeah. Looking forward to it.
Congrats and all the best! 💪
Thanks
Interesting - been in Guangzhou for the past 20+ years - still here
Yeah , similar but it’s time for a change.
@@viewpointabroad Other areas within China are more strict than others - where I am has been nice and quiet - bought my home here and with housing prices depressed and quality always in question - would move to Australia or Thailand before moving to another area within China - Good Luck to you
@SAFETYHOOD Thailand has been on my mind and I’m seriously considering it within a year or 2.
Maybe Luoyang or Changsha?
