I'm John a DEBT FREE Millennial, an expat in China, an educator, an entreprenuer and investor. I’ve been living and working in China for over 13 years. I’m working on reaching financial freedom so I can retire early abroad.
Here on TH-cam I talk about international living. I hope I can help you reach a better understanding of what it's like to live abroad so you can decide if living abroad is for you.
This channel takes you through my journey of living abroad as well as how I invest in order to reach financial freedom so I can retire aborad. I share all of this in hopes that it helps you in some way.

Just having the option to leave is freedom and that is a good feeling. You’re still young and you can do anything and go anywhere 👍
yah, I'm really thinking to go to Bangkok for a while.
@@kellyinPH - I have a live-in girlfriend 28 years younger than me and I can pickup and go and I do. I have 3 houses.
@@MakeTheRules2can I come, chill and take care of one ? Lol
sorry to hear that you are thinking like that and you say you are bored , maybe time you started to find a partner to share life with.
Just found your channel and looking forward to following your journey here. I lived in Shanghai for a couple years and really miss it. Thinking about returning early next year on a tourist or student visa, if I can find more steady remote work, we'll see. Will be documenting on my new channel as well. Greetings from Alaska!
Going back to work will help, especially interreacting with many different people. after I retired I started to go stir crazy especially when covid kicked in. I finally went back to work part-time just to keep myself active. As far as your videos I'd like to see some of you interacting with the local people.
Stay, dont leave😀
Feeling bored is a sign that your life is good. It's a luxury that many don't have. Always be thankful for what you have.
1st time I ever heard that. !
@@viewpointabroad It's a retelling of a curse: "may you live in interesting times"
wow interestingly said, never heard it said that way either, makes you think
Go spend some time in Brazil, extremely under rated country and you will not be disappointed in the women :)
Hey John, After your year teaching PE why not take a one-year break to travel the world and then decide what you want to do next. It'll freshen you up and help you get your mojo back!
After 15 years there, have you been able to fall in love and have a long-term live-in partner?
Maybe I'm too picky lol
@@viewpointabroad - You said you were looking for a change. That would do it.
I don't know what your financial situation is like but there are few places in the world that offer you the standard of living vis a vis job salary that you are getting in China.
@@junkee2511 I don’t need to work. I may just retire
Folks, this is what midlife crisis looks like. 🤣
Hahahah maybe
Working again will alleviate the boredom, new faces always help, but I can totally understand how you feel right now, Stay with it kid !
Hi I enjoy your content. Can you do a video where you try a bunch of different baijiu?
No , I don’t drink
@@viewpointabroad boo! Jk good for you
If you happy why you want to leave.
Find a chinese girl friend will make you more happy
make a couple of tin lids and you will so bussie , you won't have a enough time in the day.
I wish to retire to a beach front house in Malaysia or Indonesia but my wife hate the sun 😒
Yeah. Sounds like my idea of a good retirement also. I love the sun 🌞
Bored n retirement. It seems that you still have the energy to work or maybe just bored of the same environment. You can always go back if you decide to take a break in another country.
There is no easy retirement process as you mentioned in China. The long term stay visa process is overbearing to most so they eventually leave.
Walking and talking videos in China are ok, showing the streets. I prefer that the camera is pointed on the scenery as you have been doing. Another approach is having a walking street b roll while you do a voice over.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll probably do that soon.
Travel around the world when you are young
I think you should leave, not against China or things like that, just find a new place, new enviroment. Judging from your type, you always stay true to yourself, and nothing much can change you, so moving from one place to another is always the better choice. Frankly, 18 years in China is supprisingly long for you to stay in one country. Besides, you may want to come back to China if you feel like to in the future, if not, means you don't need to.
True , that’s kinda my mindset about it. China will always be here if I change my mind.
