Thanks for these videos! Being stuck at home, as we are, your videos are like a field trip!
I often picture, in my head, the families sitting, watching tv, or what not, especially in the houses where there's still furniture left.

Love these old homes as there is so much more character to them . The staircase and newel post are great. The wood molding around the doors is lovely as is the extra wide baseboards. My Grandma had a wringer washer like that.I used to help her when I was little and she'd say stay away from the wringer. The game board was for crokinole. I think the bedroom with adjoining nursery would have been the parents room. A nanny would not have a room that large. Most older homes always had a second stairway to the kitchen. Great find !! I really enjoyed this home. Thank you for sharing 😊

I love the living room , the curtains with the built in wood valances, and the placement of the windows. The stereo/tv was wonderful and I could picture the residents dancing in the living room. The stove in the kitchen was an old wood stove. My grandmother had two which i always marveled at how she knew how much wood was needed to cook with and bake bread in the upper portion . The burners were actually circles of steel with a slot in them, into which a handle could be inserted and be lifted out so the wood could be put inside . I imagine this was used as the electricity installed would not have been sufficient for a modern electric stove. Yes, that was an old washing machine which did an amazing job of washing the clothes in the tub and the top part was the wringer to wring out the water. As a very young, curious girl, I actually had my arm caught in the wringer and it did quite a number to my arm and my mom had to rush me to the hospital. The odd looking chair in the upstairs was actually a step stool / seat and the legs were chrome which was popular into the 70's and quite a collectible today. I am looking forward to more of your vids. :)

Seeing you go through this one reminded me of 2 places: the old house we used to live in (in 72 it was already over 100) in Sault-Ste-Marie and then my grand-parents house in Smooth Rock Falls. Love old houses :) Our first house we bought was well over 75 and ohhhh the surprises. Hay and newspaper used as insulation between the windows :)

The old curtains are from the 50’s materials! I love the old farm houses u do! That wood work is absolutely stunning! The holes are for the old wood stoves from long ago! Loving that stove!!! The backsplash is just laminate, real thin, just glued on! ONG: I used to use a washer like that!! Loved it!!! It got clothes so much cleaner than what I’d out there now! But, back then, we hung clothes up outdoors on clothes lines because we didn’t have dryers back then!!!!what u think is a fryer on the stove is where a couple of logs would have been! The bathroom is B A D!!! Thank you, Noah! U did good on this one!!! Take care and keep watching those floors!!!! GOD Bless!!!!

When I saw that wringer washer, I had a flashback to when I was quite little and got my arm caught in the rollers (yes, I'm pretty old LOL). Other than the flashback, it was nice to see the layout of the house, the old stove and cupboards. You are right. It is an old wringer washer. You washed your clothes and ran them through the wringers. That was your spin cycle. And there was another tub on the other side with an agitator to drop the clothes in to get do the rinse cycle. Then they would be put through the wringer again to do the final 'spin.' To get the water out. Then they were done. My grandmother had one. She wouldn't let me help her with the clothes because they were pretty dangerous. People have had the clothes that they were wearing pulled into the machine. and there was no safety back then. You had to hit the off switch fast or unplug the thing. Those type machines would grab onto loose clothing. People have had arms broken, crushed from being pulled through the rollers.

Those holes are most likely holes for stove pipe. it looks like the fireplace was sealed. And a wood stove would be more efficient to warm a house. So, they probably just ran the pipe up and the heat from the pipe warmed the room above.

These types of old homes DO have way more character and mystery than the abandoned mansions.
That item you were wondering about in this video was an antique washing machine for clothes. You were right about the hair dryer! And the games table is a crokinole board. Fun cottage game. Keep up the great videos. You're doing everything right!

At 11:20 that's called a Wringer Washing Machine, we had one in the late 80s early 90s.
The old TV is definitely cool nice to see it not smashed, unfortunately they don't have much value except to collectors, something you should know you should never plug in an old TV, it could destroy it.
The part that has the most amount of value is the CRT or screen unfortunately that's the one part the kids love to smash.
Personally I'm all about saving, but I think this place is a bit too far gone, definitely some good salvageable materials.

Ah that's what it's called, thanks! I wouldn't recommend plugging in any electronic that's been sitting in a house like that haha. Even non working the tv would make a great prop for a movie or photoshoot but it will likely die with the house

Not a fryer, likely that is where the wood was put. The ashes fell down through those grates and collected in the drawer, tray at the bottom, that had to be pulled out and emptied.

I prefer to watch you explore the old farmhouses, and retro/vintage homes. Of course the giant newer houses are cool......but in these old ones you never know what you will find. The little door type closets always freak me out tho!! Question?....do you have to get permission to enter or just go in?

Looks like it was still a happening household in the 60's. House much older of course. Maybe abandoned in the 70s? That hair thing-a-ma-jig was def late 60s early 70s in design and color.

In a word, poignant; each item tells a story, like the lines on a beloved old face.
The kitchen cabinets are circa 50s - had the exact same ones in the house i grew up in; those concave metal pulls always fascinated me as a child. We still have some of them, too; when we remodeled the kitchen in the 60s, we hung the overhead ones on the back wall of the garage for the workshop.

Definitely should be demolished. Way to decayed. I've not been nervous watching you explore any house until this one. I was literally holding my breathe watching you walk through this place. Hoping you did not get hurt.

@@NoahNowhere Sure but unfortunately we aren't all Bill Gates to be able to afford a museum quality restoration. For the rest of us it's going to cost quite a bit of money and time to remove any period elements that survive and then jack up the house and start fiddling with sistering or replacing floor joists, the flooring, then the walls, and in the meantime you'll have to protect the structure from the weather or your new wood will get wet too. There's nothing to nail a new roof to, so . . .and no walls to support a new roof in spots. Sucks because it's roomy and has some attractive design elements with those very peaked gable ends and the upstairs bath 30's tile.

@@NoahNowhere That kitchen stove is a definite maybe. Lehman's in Ohio sells some models from the Elmira Stove Works, and new they are in the thousands, so fixing THAT might be worth it. I didn't see the cast iron lids though, that makes it harder.
