Hey guys, there is one topic missing about the Bosch Solution 2000 here; how to upgrade the Icon keypad to the 5" touch screen. I couldn't find in other topics. TIA.

You don’t mention the Bosch 4.3 “ touch keypad, some resellers tell me the 5” keypad has many faults and may be withdrawn.
    Do you know about this.?
As an installer I don’t want to install items that you have to go back and replace within the first few years, or ever really.

We don't mention the 4.3" keypad mainly because it had issues and in our opinion wasn't wonderfully 'user friendly'. Bosch are phasing the 4.3" touch screen out towards the end of 2019 in any case.
The 5" keypad is a much cleaner interface and the difference in screen size from 4.3" to 5" makes a huge difference in usability. There were some teething problems in the very first lot of 5" touch screens, but these have all been ironed out quite some time ago.
Almost all our 3000 kits leave with the 5" touch screen, and if they were an issue we would have lots of headaches. I can happily recommend with 5" touch screen with the 2000 or 3000 panels.

Hi CAP, I have an Icon Keypad attached to a Solution 3000 system. A painter recently broke the cover flap piece and now it is attached on only the left side. The right side of the keypad has the broken arm piece of the cover flap still embedded in it. I have had a replacement cover piece sent out to me from Bosch and this should be simple to install but I can't figure out how to remove the damaged cover flap and the broken off arm piece first without potentially damaging the entire fascia housing of the keypad. I can't even get any help from my supplier as they are clueless, do you guys have any ideas? I'm sure this is bound to happen to somebody else in the future and it would be great to know how to solve this unusual problem. Please advise if possible, Tim

Hi Tim. On the bottom of the keypad on the back plate there is a rectangular slot where you can push a small screwdriver in. This will separate the front of the keypad from the wall plate. Take out the old cover from the front section of the keypad and replace it with the new cover. Hook the top of the keypad front on to the top of the wall plate. Close the keypad and it should click shut. I can make a video if you're still stuck.

@@CheapAlarmParts thank you very much, this worked to a degree, but the front cover flap does not entirely close snug at the top part as the first one did. Still, it is way better than before and almost closes so I'll accept that given this is a retrofit. Thanks again for your help. Next time I want alarm parts I'm purchasing from you guys at Bondi, my own supplier had no idea how to solve this which is ridiculous, you guys rock!.......

Hi guys, does the 5” touch screen (or any of the other keypads) go ‘dark’ when not in use I.e. for installation in a bedroom where always on would be disruptive?

    • @CheapAlarmParts
      @CheapAlarmParts  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Neil,
Yes and no. Both the 7" and 5" touch screens can be set to go completely black, but there is always a faint glow of the backlight - so it's more of a very dark grey.
The icon keypad screen goes dark, but the keys always have a blue glow (which can be hidden when the cover is closed).
The text keypad is the only one that can be set to go completely black, but only if all zones are sealed after 60 seconds.

Cheap Alarm Parts Thanks for the quick response. 👍 I’m replacing an existing DSC system. Which display would you be happy to have on your bedroom wall?. Ultimately, if you say “none” I could relocate into a hallway.

@@neilaldridge9261 If you're a very sensitive sleeper and like the room pitch black, I would say "none", but the keypad that goes the "blackest" is the text keypad.
In any case, we recommend keypads in the hallway so they are accessible to everyone in the house.

Hi, has an intercom been released for the 7inch panel yet? And does it work with the bosch 3000 IP as well as through the IFOB app? Thanks

It is a real shame that the 5inch lcd is only good for landscape..

Good news!! The latest firmware download allows both orientations!! Should be back compatible to earlier version hardware as well. Connect your touchscreen to Wi-Fi, make sure your time is set correctly and do a software update. Should work!
