Yeah, once you take away rental and tax you’re earning minimum wage or slightly above. Whilst risking damaging the van a loosing 1 weeks worth of pay in a matter of seconds.
i know its boring but if u made some sandwiches an a drink ...save £5 a day at greggs, obv cost max £2 at home...but over a year you d save approx £1500 ...get a nice holiday for that
Hi sorry i know this is a late reply but what have things come to that we work hard, often for long hours and we have to stop spending £5 a day to feed ourselves. I have friends in low paid jobs that cycle to work, at 5am, in all weathers to save the bus fares. That's just crazy.
Just started amazon deliveries with a company that provides the vans, self employed working 5 days, 560 a week, its nice not having bosses so to speak, obviously things are still expected of you but im enjoying being on the road, cant say ill do it forever but for now its goood
11:40 heck no, if you gotta stop in the street, stop in the street. you got a job to do :P at least where I live, there is a legal difference between "parking" and "stopping". parking is obviously wrong, but stopping can be anything brief like letting someone out, picking someone up, or making a quick delivery. if i know im going on a street where i likely gotta stop and block traffic, i just get all my packs for that street lined up so i can be as fast as possible. i dont want to make people wait but i also dont want to wrap around and drive down the same street 6 times
I pull up on curb and stick hazards on, i used to wrap around being considerate when I first started but now I don't give a fuck I've got a job to do and all these people are probably going home so they can bloody wait a few mins or drive around me
This is why a system like DPD's where you get paid per stop, and where distance driven is taken into account, is much better. The more you deliver, the more you earn.
if is 300 parcels, 180 stops average for 130£ a day- tax definitely not worth it and how long would that take to deliver about 12 hours ? I think dpd pays better and who is paying for petrol?
Nah that’s why you need to finish it fast as possible. I use to earn £250 per day. Because I would finish my main route in 2-3 hours and then went and helped other drivers for extra money. Which would take like another 2-3 hours. So I would make £250 for like 5-6 hours work. If you slow then this job ain’t worth the money.
@ ignore this guy, you can earn decent money if you quick at it. The more parcels you do, the more you earn and do it quick. If you slow then you won’t simple.

You didn’t mention how many hours it was, I just want to know how many hours it took earn the routes pay… What time you start, and what time you finish, on average?
The route is 9 hours long, if you finish before that you don’t need to work up to the 9 hour point. Loading and van checks is probably another 30 minutes. Start times vary completely between companies. One company could start 9am another could start at 12pm
