Really appreciate this video. My 996.2 GT3 shifter was feeling it's age so I had the parts replaced with the 997.2 GT3 shifter mechanism and the 997.2 cables (same as yours) - there's still the side to side movement that you noted right at the end but I do think that's inherent in the shifter and caused by the loose fitting square end joint/yoke so I'd be interested to hear if the FF kit fixed that up. I also actually have gone back to the 996 shifter for the longer throw....but following this video, I will update the ends to the FF type as even new, there's a spongy-ness in the shifter still.

That’s exactly how we felt! It’s not a perfect solution by any means but definitely felt like it got us in the right direction. I’m glad you liked the video!

Are the cotter pins stainless steel ? I ask because less chance of them wearing long term. The one piece that you had to flip around to work may have been a packaging error, or is that just the way it will comes and you deal with it. I have a 2010 987.2 Cayman S and I changed to WEVO Semisolid transaxle mounts and a Function 1st urethane infill for the front engine mount and notice a big improvement in the shift action, due to the engine and transaxle staying put in place. I'm thinking of using the Function 1st shifter kit also for finishing this up. I'm thinking some of the shifter cable breakage in the Cayman platform is due to the length of the cables and the engine/transaxle movement; though I've not had this problem.

We aren’t 100% sure but he replied “hope so!!” when I asked. I think it is, it feels pretty high quality. We’ll take a look at them next time we’re under the car and see if they’re rusty for you!

Racing season just ended so I hope soon! The editor (me) has been very busy 😂 We’ve got to re film Ryan’s take on it as it somehow didn’t capture any sound. Hoping to get caught up with content here in the offseason!
