- I was asked to see if this HP desktop could be upgraded at all as she still wanted to use it for her business. I told her I would check it out.
What we have here is an HP 110-210 and it's definitely an odd desktop, its a full size tower with a tiny motherboard and uses a laptop power supply.
As it came the specs on this are:
-1.50 GHz AMD Quad-Core A4-5000.
-4GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM.
-500GB Hard Drive.
-AMD Radeon HD 8330 Graphics.
-Windows 8.1
For this upgrade, I installed a 240GB Adata SSD and 4GB of additional ram bringing it to 8GB total.
So initially what I wanted to do was update it from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and leave the ability to downgrade if performance was hindered by the upgrade, however because I could not clone the larger drive to the smaller SSD I ended up just installing Windows 10 fresh.
These were just some small upgrades to keep this PC running for a while longer and will suffice for simple office work which is what this will be used for.

Did you ever do anything with it? Most I bothered with is a matching 4 Gb stick of ram and an SSD. I notice there is a vacant MSATA port. Might be fun to look for one of and put it in. If I find one cheap.
@@HalfbreedTrini no it already come with 8gb of ram doubt it would help very much putting another stick in.

I have one. I play Xbox games on it. Halo Master Chief collection. I've beaten the 1st two games on it and got achievements for it. It's free with game pass. I've never had any issues playing. I also play Asphalt 8, made it to first place on gauntlet using an Xbox one controller plugged into the front USB. WiFi adapter in the back.
Hi I have no backround knowledge on PCs but do you think I can upgrade a hp 110-314 pc into a gaming pc or that can run 60 fps
I may be wrong but the HP 110 line doesn’t have a good line of upgrades besides the ram and HDD or SDD. I think if you wanted to upgrade it you would have to replace the motherboard because it doesn’t support a dedicated gpu and you would have to upgrade the case because the options of motherboards that would fit that case are very slim so after that the cpu isn’t good at all and won’t handle a fairly good gpu. So basically you would be buying a whole new pc. I don’t recommend trying to upgrade it
@@nicholasdrennan7114 Thanks for the advice, I was thinking about upgrading this, but after I seen the laptop motherboard I was like "yeah I'm buying a case and building a whole new one."

older brother found a 110 model on the side of the road with everything intact, ram,wifi card, hdd (w10 boot). looking to swap the board to a mini atx case. Mine doesnt have normal ram modules, laptop ram at 4gb. doubled it up and looking at a good mini atx to transplant everything into... might need to mod the new case (when I find one) to suite all the panel features like sd card read etc

No. I think you should upgrade the cpu first and then your processor will be more capable of handling a 980.
@@sudhinmaheshwar2194 I don’t think so because most of the prebuilt parts in this pc are made to only fit this pc. You can probably use the ram and the hard drive I don’t know about the psu but the motherboard is really only made to fit that case. Now that I thought about it most of the stuff on the motherboard is integrated into the motherboard so the power supply(psu) is also different and only made for that pc specifically. I recommend looking up like a video of the best pc you can get for whatever your price range is and then getting those parts. But maybe save the ram and the hard drive if you have your data on the hard drive

You may be able to, but not sure if they use their own connections for the mother board. I’d check for a part number on the front panel and see if HP still sells it.

Hi, I have the same pc. Just purchased a 1 TB internal Crucial SSD, 8 GB DDR 3 RAM. I have been saving all of my files to an external HDD. I do have WIN 10 on the internal HDD. Was going to clone the internal HDD to the new SSD, but after watching YT videos, I need a usb SATA cable to do the cloning. Or can I find Windows 10 online to download on to the new internal SSD? I do have a few software that is on the HDD, and can reinstall in the SSD. Just wondering which is the easiest route to go. TIA for your help.

Possibly a small one, but it's using a laptop motherboard and a small power supply. There's not much upgradability here
When you added the extra RAM, it said 8gb running single channel mode. Do you have to unlock dual channel-mode in the BIOS? People are saying different things, like, when you use two sticks, it automatically runs in dual-channel mode. Some say you have an option in the BIOS to unlock it. Do you know anything about that?
Looks like it’s hardware limited. According to HP’s website. So I don’t think there is a way for it to run dual channel.
@@IansTech Thank you for your fast response! So, if the HP site states that the motherboard can run dual channel, it will run dual channel when two RAM-sticks are inserted? Or does it depend on the processor as well, instead of the motherboard?
I'm asking, because I have several HP 110-302nd desktops laying around. They are outdated, but I decided to upgrade one with an SSD and a memory upgrade. I was thinking to use a RAM-stick from the other desktops (they're 4 GB ea I think) and upgrade mine to 8 GB.

@@Marcelis it’s not pointless it will help with memory intensive tasks but I’m saying it won’t improve it a lot. The bottleneck is the CPU in this machine and because of how they did it in this machine that can’t be upgraded.

Jack O'lantern it runs fine with an SSD, it’s a bit more bloated than windows 8 though. I’d recommend using windows 10 debloater if you do update.
these comps look odd from the inside, no PSU! small Mobo! What was the deal with these comps, were they the made for? Low-budget school districts maybe? 3rd world nations, for their schools to run Linux? I obtained one today and i'm wondering if I can use a dremel buzzer to hack out a window for a PSU... and make it a fun project case. My comp is a 110-014, AMD E-1-1500, 1.48 Ghz, 2-core CPU, and this thing looks like it can't run fast, def not Windows 10, maybe i'll try out Linux Kubuntu or Mint.
I have an HP 110-217c which is I think beyond repair. I have the chance of the model in your tutorial above, but I'm wondering what the difference (if any) is. They look totally identical.
Just looked and they seem very similar. Similar motherboard setup and external power supply. This desktop doesn’t offer a lot of upgrades
@@IansTech Thank you. Things worked out OK. I simply took the hard-drive from my old computer, put it into the one like yours (it didnt come with a hard-drive) and it worked great! No calibration etc. Just totally worked great.

I don’t think these are possible. The motherboard is a laptop style and uses a laptop power supply rather than a traditional one. I do not recall if it has more then 2 SATA ports. You may have to unplug the CD drive to use 2 hard drives.

This one has a laptop style motherboard so you probably can’t add a graphics card. You can upgrade the RAM or hard drive to an SSD though

Well the case has no holes in the back like it should so it would have to be cut open to actually fit one in. There aren't any holes to screw one in place either

You don't get key on OEM windows. If you had upgraded it to win 10 and logged with your Microsoft account then you can simply do a clean install if your windows installation is corrupted.

1. You can't transfer OEM key.
2. If you want to activate windows then buy it from official Microsoft website.
Don't go for third party sites. It's a high chance they will give you some pirated stuff which you can get for free on the internet.
I guess a trusted kms server key will work well but do your own research and then proceed.

This is pure JUNK! LOL. No wonder HP don't use a phillips screw, cause people might have a fit when the open it to see the horror within. Basically this shitbox is assembled at the factory for the absolute rock bottom price, so the unsavy consumer will buy it because it's cheap. God only knows what the markup is on these. No PSU and a laptop motherboard. I thought the whole point of a desktop was so you can upgrade it to your heart's content? Can't do shit with this may as well get a laptop lol.
