👍How to be a respectful visitor to these places👍
Native American groups still live in this area and beyond today. These places are still special and hold significance.
1️⃣Don't climb on walls or structures. Don't lean on or climb over them. Many places don't even need to be visited up close. View these places from a distance or with binoculars.
2️⃣Do not touch the rock art. Don't touch or create new rock art to preserve ancient stories.
3️⃣ Leave All Artifacts. Leave artifacts and structures undisturbed to maintain their historical significance. It is illegal and wrong to take artifacts. If you want something to take home, support local tribes by buying their handicrafts and jewelry.
4️⃣ Manage Waste Responsibly. Use waste bags; don't leave human or pet waste behind. Don't 'go' near cultural sites.
5️⃣ Camp With Care. Don't camp near historical sites. No fires near these areas, and ensure all waste is packed out. Don't make fires in caves or alcoves. Camp in designated spots only. When you leave, make sure to make the site cleaner and better than when you found it. Pick up extra trash you may see.
6️⃣ Control Your Pets. Don't let pets roam freely near archaeological areas to prevent destruction. Pets are not allowed in or near sites.
7️⃣ Preserve Fragile Areas. Don't disturb fossils and please protect delicate soil and plant life.
8️⃣ Follow Rules. Don't engage in illegal actions such as building cairns, or using climbing gear to access archaeological sites.

What a cool find. That survey marker was placed by my granddad. He was the one responsible for marking and surveying most of the southwest in the 1950's

Hey Trek Planner, I was the one that sent you the coordinates, I was excited to see that you were able to get to covering it. Hopefully you'll be able to check out some of the other locations that I sent you as well. I would like to point out that I did notify the FAA and the Airport letting them know about this when I discovered it. Anyway glad to see you're continuing to make videos.

I used to be a search and rescue pilot. I knew from the thumbnail what that was. Glad you followed up with the NTSB report and discovered no fatalities. And that was a fantastic spear point! You’re a lucky dude. 👍🏼

The sentiment is nice, but I’m sure it will be lost to time now. Would be better collecting it and giving it to some local museum or even a school so teachers can show it to the kids.

We appreciate how thorough you were about that plane wreckage, had it not been already a reported incident, you could have been helping some Family with closure they'd rather not have to endure. We very much enjoy your exploration videos and are always surprised by the wonderful artifacts you uncover and show us!
He obviously wasn't the first to ever be at the crash site. The whole plane had been salvaged by someone.

I’ve been wandering the Utah deserts for almost thirty years now and I’ve never found an arrowhead. Congratulations- nice one!
Don't give up. They are out there. Look on plateaus and under sage brush bushes. Dry creek beds, on the curves, especially after a good rain. Study the area and find out where the old waterways flowed. They used arrowheads for thousands of years, so they are in layers in the dirt. Overton and Mesquite Nevada is where I have found some, but my father has found many in Utah.
If you live by a river where Indians used to be, you could put a stick at the edge of a river when the water is low but make sure it's strong enough to not get swept away when the river rises. After the river goes back down there should be arrowheads and other items by the stick, I've seen a TH-camr do this and he actually got some good arrowheads.
I grew up in Provo Utah and my dad took me down to Southern Utah almost every year on family vacation. On our way to Zion one year we stopped in Mount Carmel. In the hills past the golf course we scouted around and found a bunch of pottery and arrowheads. They are definitely out there. 🤠
Come to Indiana, they're everywhere in the spring.

That "arrowhead" is an atlatl dart point. True arrowheads are typically much smaller. A corner notch point of that type lilely dates to the Middle Archaic period and is probably in the 5,000 to 7,000 years BP age range.
A further note on making stone points, most points aren't fluted. That is a feature of certain Paleo era points, most notably Clovis and later Folsom and Cumberland style points.
All the same, it was a fascinating find. Thanks for bringing us along on your adventure.
Australian Aboriginals use a long atlatyl. A spear and thrower.

You're a saint for resisting the urge to pocket that beautiful arrowhead. Of course you know (sadly) that someone else will definitely pick it up when next it's found.

Oh ye of little faith... Have you watched his videos? He always preaches, 'leave it in place'.
I think we are genetically predisposed to admire faceted stonework. Our culture's valuation of gemstones is an an example. In the old days, finding a nice projectile point would have been the equivalent of finding $100 laying on the ground.
If this projectile point isn't in a state park or national park, there is nothing wrong with keeping this artifact, the chance of someone else coming across that artifact is slim to none. People like myself that hunt fields and creeks for these artifacts log where they find them, study them and cherish them! But on the other hand if that's what you choose to do I obviously respect that, awesome find!
If it was public land, it would go in my pocket, not gonna lie. No one will ever see that thing again...and that's cool too
My buddy helps out on a homestead in New Mexico and when they find mostly whole arrowheads out in the open like that they bring them to museums so they don't get lost to time
... as much as I've enjoy hiking around areas like this , being 70 - having that drone is a valuable asset , this is stuff we dreamed of years ago ... another great video , thank you ... safe travels ...
It was pretty clear from the crash site that someone had recovered most of the valuable parts of the plane. Some of those parts were clearly cut off and not just damaged in the crash. Many of the cover plates had been unbolted. The engine was nowhere to be found and I did not see anything resembling an instrument cluster there.
I’m surprised that it all wasn’t removed after the crash.

Can’t wait brotha! Nothing like a morning exploration hike for the soul. I do morning hikes around my area. I pick out a canyon, mountain base etc and away I go. I’ve found some cool stuff. Early 1900s beer and soda bottles, a spur, old structures but nothing like what you’ve shown us. Thanks for keeping us in that journey. Stay safe

I don’t agree with the whole “leave it where you found it” thing like, why? In 200 years if people find our shit why would I want them to look at it and see, and put it back down. So others can see it? Cmon. Not everything is about us, live in the moment. This is all of our world. Find something, take it. Maybe you’ll take it somewhere else and leave it in a spot where people would never have gotten to see an arrowhead. Just live in the moment.
i think i heard you can get a hefty fine if you pickup those...

That arrowhead was fantastic, beautiful! Thank you for following up on the plane crash, it's always nice to hear the whole story on something like that. I wanted to also thank you for your video's....they have encouraged me to "get out there" and explore. While I have 2 very arthritic knees I have been pushing myself to get out and walk in the desert each week. While it may not be a true "hike" it has really made me feel better and less stuck at home. I just walk on flat ground right now but hope to take some longer walks/hikes in the future. Thank you.

It is weird, I actually walk out through the wilderness for a living (I am a survey archaeologist), yet I find your adventures fascinating. My finds
are unexpected, much like that corner-notch projectile point you found. It would be fun to actually have an interesting destination instead of long linear transects. I did find a hatch off of an F-101 one time. I contacted the nearest AF base. They told me with a little embarrassment that stuff does fall off jets from time to time. It was just a rectangle of aluminum, but it had service inspection tags that made identification easy.
You Americans are amazing in regards to distances. If I drive for 4 hours I pass through Germany and end up in Denmark LOL. OR if i drive 4 hours the other way I end up in Belgium. That's more a vacation than a trip hence we don't drive suchs distances on average.
4 hours isn't much tbh, I've driven for 10 without stopping in almost a totally straight line and I didn't even leave my state, and it's not even a a big state

I can't get out anymore, so this is awesome. I used to do lots of fun things,exploring, was my favorite, driving,motorcycles, ATVs,old cars,busy doing something ,going places,all of the time.now I walk on a tread mill and watch other people having the time of there lives!!

I try to avoid commenting online about touchy subjects as it hardly ever ends positively or productively, but I just wanted to take a sec to encourage folks who have the urge to pocket artifacts to genuinely take a moment to ask themselves "what is it really benefitting me to take this, other than my ego and pride, and at what cost could taking it affect the native people who have already lost so much?"
Always doing the right thing, Jeff you are the perfect example for all trekkers, hikers, and explorers.

I don't know but maybe the crash investigators took the engine for some analysis. Determining it's only problem was running out of fuel might have been hard to determine in the field.
@@rossmacintosh5652. Guages. The plane has guages. Moreover, the NTSB would have found fuel during the investigation. Those guys.are really, really good.

Where I live in rural Canada when planes crash in the wilderness, they often aren't found for years. The crash sites can be engulfed by the forest cover and not visible from the air.

There is an ancient site, a quarry on my sister's ranch where spear and arrow heads were made from stone found in that area. I discovered by accident when I noticed there were black stones in the area, black from where they had been burned.. Very little digging uncovered hundreds of flawed examples. By flowed, the stone was being worked and too much of it was chipped away in the process. Like our host, I left everything as I found it.
