To be honest, without DVLA giving a date of the alleged smoke offence, it could have been years ago and before your ownership of the truck. I’d write back asking for the date of the alleged offence. All speeding offences etc are from the date of the alleged offence. I’d also request a copy of the evidence they have that states you were making too much smoke and a calibration certificate from the tester. Or a copy of the witness statement and DVLA statement on what makes that person/witness a competent subject matter expert able to judge what constitutes too much smoke. You could also state that you believe this was simply a malicious compliant made by a ‘feckless hater’ (or a more professional term that means exactly the same 😉) which is wasting both your and the DVLAs time and money.

@@impy1980 is it false though🤔 TIM running illegal exhaust pipes, illegal Tints, if VOSA are watching this sham, then Tim’s truck will be a magnet for roadside checks, his service provider (Lambardos) need to sharpen up on his inspections of Tim’s Scania …. Turning a blind eye to the tints and exhaust or they may loose there o licence through good repute …

How do you around with illegal steering wheel in your truck. This model must have airbag if there isn't there must be fault.
I know a few friends truckers with older Scania truck, where they can do it and past MOT, but younger models no chance.

They would get an email back saying without any evidence of this I won’t be spending any time or money to prove my innocence.
Issue with that is 1. almost guarantees a visit to your operating centre and 2. almost certainly puts a target on your back (well back of the truck) for a road side stop. Although I’m sure Tim’s operation is compliant it’s a stress nobody needs for the sake of a smoke test at Lombardos’s.

Hah. That reminds me of a time many years back when I was on buses and I had a suspected cylinder head failure, but was trying to nurse it to the end of the shift; it was steaming a bit from the exhaust but it developed into white smoke on my last journey. At the end, it was billowing out, so I had a recovery truck collect it.
Two days later- driving a newly MOT'd hired in bus- VOSA turned up and when they saw me, made a beeline for me and asked for me to rev the engine. 30 seconds later they were gone. Ironically, the company that grassed me up ended up with several PG9s for their own fleet.
Nothing like a new Trucker Tim video on my birthday :)

You have got smoke fumes , it is dangerous having smoke flying out a truck because i had a car do it once and my chest was really sore after cuz the fumes and im young aswell and disabled so it has a somewhat serious effect on me , but you know and we know you just want to have fun with your truck just be careful would be my advice 🙂

There are some right pricks in this world. How on earth can someone make a report without a date or time that actually makes it to a letter being sent out, especially one which then pushes for you to go and get tested? Hopefully the person who reported it spends the rest of their life stubbing their toes, tripping up and generally being miserable, although by the sounds of it the last part is already happening. Pathetic people who like nothing more than bringing down someone else. Bother about your own life before you bother about someone elses!
Interesting you could avoid it by investing in some baffles, after all if it barks it must smoke and some people can see sound ,seriously if you want to attract attention you have to expect prat’s!

I can't believe the DVSA can even take a report seriously without a date or time. And all they want you to say is that it doesn't emit too much smoke? No proof of test results? What a waste of time and tax payers money. I hope the person who reported you sees this and how ineffective their reporting was. It could also be made into "content" which will be financially rewarding to you! 😂

I can respectfully confirm that the V8 does not emit excess smoke. As witnessed by me on the A14 westbound at Bury St Edmunds today 14th June.

Well, I have never understood what is nice about black smoke. I know, it might look fancy. A bit is just fine, but for example next gen scania smoking like old coal burner just is not nice. But Tim's R does not smoke too much.
Think the tint on your windows need to be questioned
