OMG, this is the best Robinson movie I have ever seen and I thought I had seen them all. My new favorite Robinson movie bar none
Hi Richard 🍕wow that’s a tall compliment. Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you. 🍕
Not a knock on this wonderful movie but you must never have watched 'Double Indemnity' (1944) ? Robinson co-stars and, while his part isn't a lot of screen time, he burns it up in the time he does have !!
...or The amazing Dr Cliterhouse.
Little Caesar??
All my sons???
Have you seen The Little Giant? I think it's his funniest.
I'll watch anything with Edward G Robinson
Edward G is tops in my book👍🏻
Should have received many
awards 👏
You had me at Edward G. Robinson!
Thanks, PizzaFlix!

Thanks 4 this. You're correct with who cares what it's about..its Edward G. Robinson. I never heard of this and it produced lots of smiles. I really like finding movies where he plays something other than a gangster. They sure don't make actors like the old ones anymore sadly.
Lady in the Window is great
Terrific film. Has a Frank Capra flavor to it. The great Edward G. Robinson and Sir Ralph Richardson in the same film! an overlooked gem.
I agree. What a gem of a movie. A million thanks for posting this. EGR is fantastic!
Edward G. and Nigel Bruce! What a romp! Thanks!
Edward G. deserves the academy award for best actor and this movie is no doubt the best movie of the 1940s.
Actually this isn't a 1940s film. It was made in 1937!
It’s fabulous Edward G Robinson unbelievable as always you can’t beat these old movies
He was a master of many different character types!!!
Love Edward G❤...he is so intense...Thank you PF🍕...these movies are the perfect ending to a long week❤
Thanks for posting! Mr. Robinson was a great actor!
Two actors featured in this movie are remembered for the characters they played in adaptations of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories. Nigel Bruce, memorable in fourteen features made between 1939 and 1946, as Dr. Watson to Basil Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes, and Arthur Wontner as the great detective in five film adaptations of Doyle's work made between 1931 and 1937.
And let's not forget Sir Ralph Richardson as Watson in the BBC/ABC radio series with Sir John Gielgud as Holmes. His portrayal was the finest for me. th-cam.com/video/iyNJY-KYzi8/w-d-xo.html
@@duvidl Agreed! I have some of those broadcasts on CD. Richardson is indeed an exemplary Watson to Gielgud's Holmes.
Good point!! I knew I recognized the English relative!!
Definitely Nigel Bruce was excellent!
Thanks for the factoids.
I'm late but I'm here Pizza Sauce! How could anyone not like Edward G. Robinson and Nigel Bruce!?
True❤
I enjoyed that film. Thank you.
Hilarious script! Great cast. Wonderful film.
Edward G. Robinson was my grandfather’s favorite actor.
You’re making me feel OLD
@@PizzaFLIX
Oh, my! I’m sorry. Loving vintage only means that you have discriminating taste, not that you are vintage yourself. Thanks for posting a delightful film!
Thank you for all the movies ❤❤
Another great Friday night movie thanks Pizza fix❤
I just rewatched Little Caesar last week see so another Robinson flick is fabulous! Thank you Pizza!

🎉🎉🎉🎉 Thank you for the movie🎉🎉
Yippee! My Friday night indulgence! 👍🏻❤️
He is an awesome leading man ♥️Classic
Not bad at all. Quick pace with wit and humor and Edward in Jolly ole England. Plus an actress I was unfamiliar with, the attractive German born: Luli Deste.
Fun movie, thanks.
Edward G and Nigel Bruce in the same movie, you spoil us. thx
EGR, always a crowd pleaser. TY Pizza Flix.
What's a really cute movie very well done. Thank you
wooohoo now were talking! Roll that film!! 🎥🍿❤️❤️❤️❤️ thanks PF this gonna be great 😊🥂🥂
Our lady rules 🍕🍕🍕
wow! This is a rare one, and high quality 'print' too! Many thanks!
Previously i thought it was a average one but that comments made me to change my view i rewatched it and in my opinion all those people comment are deserves to be congratulated. ❤
this is classic edwad g.
Absolutely Wonderful!
One of my favorites, Edward G Robinson...thanks, Pizzaflix!
I already saw this at some point. I grew up only knowing Edward G Robinson as the gangster character. Mainly from parodies, like Bugs Bunny and Couragous Cat cartoons and Key Largo, which used to play constantly on sydicated weekend afternoons in the 70s. But since getting into film noir, I much prefer seeing him in more conventional roles. Like this, the two Lady in the Window movies, the Stranger....
Good flik as usual. Thank you for your work.
Hi Frank 🍕Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you 🍕
Thank you, thank you.
Entertaining/relaxing/satisfyingly delightful.😀😀
great movie. thanks for posting it
Thank you very much!!😊
Excellent film with fast wit and constant motion. Tku for post.
Thanks for all the great movies you post. Loved this one with Edward G Robinson.❤🍕
Thank you Pizza Flix 😊
Surprisingly GOOD!
Beginning to end, an excellent movie.
Edward G. would not have wanted to be in Texas now.
The actress is Luli DeStefano who has second billing in the film. Please don't leave her name out !!!
Robinson was a genius. Check out a movie called the bullit, true story where he plays a scientist.
Wasn’t that Dr Zaius’s magic bullet ….
Ehrlic's Magic Bullet, I think.
@@JH-ug8jp That’s the one… he was also pretty good in, Scareface !
I was joking, he wasn’t in Scarface….but he came close to playing Dr Zaius in Planet of the Apes
A visiting American engages in a bold business promotion, the likes of which the British have not seen.
Any movie with E G R or James Cagney just watch it ..
Todos os filmes com esse ator Edward G. Robinson, recomendo porque são ótimos e vou me inscrever no canal por ser legendados em português! Obrigado pela postagem.
Quite puzzled how people haven't realized this film has been on yt for at least 2 years, from quite a few folks, yet nearly everyone in the comments section mentioning they haven't seen or heard of it
Magnalite... is an alloy of cheap metals 🤣 popular in cookware in the 1930's
NICE!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I met his wife installing paintings but wish I could met Mr.Robinson. Jane Robinson remarried to George Sidney when I worked for her.
Great movie. 17:40. Is that Ralph Richardson?
Yes🍕
I loved it! THANK YOU! What a great movie...great cast and direction!! A hidden gem. How did you find it?
America has grown up since then. dignity. decorum. lets just reflect on that sentiment for a while.
I didn't see Huntz Hall in there anywhere
Love E.G.R.❤
They sure wore stylish suits back then.
Brings to mind Nerdlinger’s Milk, from ‘Good Neighbor Sam’
At 1:03:06 if you have to fly to Paris the next morning for a crucial business meeting, you don't party all night. He made the right decision to sleep no matter what mood he was in.
Love E.G.R.!!❤
Yeeeeee-hawwww
1:04:13 🎉 "... 'malheureux' means 'unlucky'..." ❤ not in French 😮
Malheureux = "unhappy" / "malchanceux" is "unlucky"
(I'm shocked! Shocked!)😅
Quite the contrast from Little Caesar. I liked his caricature in Bugs Bunny cartoons also. btw, I wonder how many U.S. dollars 50,000 francs equaled in 1937.🤔
James cagney was the yankee doodle yankee in the life of John m. Cohen and played many tough gangsters as well.
How can we buy shares in the Magnelite Company ?
I don"t recall his name at the moment, but he was a Yankee Doodle Dandee, Irishman! who reminded me a lot of Edward G. Robinson .
James Cagney 💐
Bugs Bunny
Yes, James Cagney
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
😊😊😊😊😊
Is that the classic Transatlantic accent ?
Which movie was Edward g Robinson in with pigeons?
He played Mr. Reuters who started the news business with pigeons!
Stickholders.
Please name the actress who has second billing in the film !!
Hi Sarah 🍕did you read my description? The beautiful Luli Deste gets a special mention in the Trivia section 🍕Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce Be with you 🍕
Those accents 😁
I like Eddy G especially in Key Largo, Little Caesar, Double.
Indemnity, Dr Erlichs Magic Bullet, the 10 Commandments Soylent green but I have to say to you mugs this movie was a magnelite bomb…yeah see!
He's great in Key Largo
mmmmyeahhh!
36:57 Where are these mines " Rhodesia".
Magnalite!
🍕!
Agreed! EGR was always worth watching. The man was a professional not a pretty face.
You know, Dan Armstrong reminds me of Donald Trump.
They say that Graham Greene didn't like the movie. He must have been in one of those grumpy English moods that used to be the default mode.
Clearly, this was made before the Hindenburg disaster of the same year, when blimps lost their appeal. (What a difference a day makes!)
Could it be that rich men in the 1930's wore flowers in their suit lapels because of the stench of stinkbombs? 🌰😑😮😄
"who was the first country to come out of the depression? England, why? because of dignity" (still better economic analysis than MSNBC)
Well….at least until Brexit. 🤷
Who cares 😎
PizzaFlix. You must have sold your soul to the devil to get this movie. Powerful performance by Robinson. And to think WWII was just a few years away from breaking out. 👍
" The aristocratic blue-eyed German actress, Luli Deste made her English-speaking film debut in Thunder in the City. She subsequently came to Hollywood with an entourage of three Afghan hounds but found quality roles hard to come and quit film acting in 1941"
Smartest decision she ever made.
I doubt it . She needed to stay in Hollywood somehow

Read the blurb under the video: idiot.
Such a great old Movie and such a time in Hollywood when all the movies were a work of art with no blood and guts and raunchy sex~!!
So much dialogue that I wonder how they ever learn it for a long movie. Thanks Pizza Flix for selecting the really good ones~!
Where are all the black people I haven't seen one
Mantan Moreland would've stolen the show!
ALWAYS ENTERTAINING
