This is really helpful! I just noticed that my English teacher must have watched this video before teaching us because my notes are exactly the same as this video!!! OMG
Could you say this whole story serves as a metaphor for her conflict between cultural identity. The narwhals acting as her native Eskimo culture, and the hunters acting as Western society. The idea that foreign cultures are a necessity for Western society.
That's a great alternative interpretation, you need to think like that for the exam, but the hunters are far from Western society. You could say a conflict between man and animal, and how humans oppress and have more power than other creatures on Earth
Kari Herbert actually is not a native Eskimo, her parents were from UK, her father being the explorer, the family resided in Greenland when she was young.
@@stormhenshaw was NOT expecting that at all but the unseen was actually decent. section b i did the speech. honestly not a bad paper but felt i could have done much better if it was one's i actually studied. I swear this exam board is racist they never do the single story
Could you go through ‘I went seal hunting in the Canadian Arctic’ and compare it to this text. How the writer presents their ideas and perspectives and their experiences with hunting.
Not that relevant but can I ask are these the correct spellings for UK English: 'emphasis', 'emphasize', 'emphasizes' and 'emphasized'. I seem to be getting different answers when I search it up. Thanks
I typically use American spelling since I live in the US and most of my students are American. For example, emphasize is American English; emphasise is British English. Exam boards at GCSE level do not mind which you use, so long as you are consistent with either British or American spelling.
Your videos are really helpful. Thank you very much ,this has helped me during my exams ;) Can you please do one for 'The Bright Lights Of Sarajevo" By Tony Harrison.
