I'd like to see this conversation also. May I add my two cents by saying I'd like to see Stefan Molyneux in that conversation as well - another great mind from Toronto. He calls himself an atheist but I've notice his heart softening towards Christianity in recent years.

I deeply appreciate that Dave is willing to interview christians and even more deeply appreciative of the honor and respect these Christians extend to Dave.
Ravi is not a hateful pharisee, he's a Christian. I fear that because of pharisees, the educational system, people like Richard Dawkins, and leftist politicians many have been brainwashed into believing Christians hate, we don't.
A lot of us are more than willing to talk to people of different faiths, cultures and even those who don't profess any.
Dave is a sincere individual in my opinion, and I would always be glad to befriend such people like him.

Bottom line is that our wills aren't really free in a libertarian sense.
The are bound by our nature and desires.
@Jesus Christ A Catholic once explained it to me most consistently: Heaven/Hell is at God's discretion , _independent_ of anything anyone does or doesn't do. He believes that those who _believe_ in Christ will _all_ be granted Heaven, because that is what Jesus _promised_ . For the rest, it's a toss up. He didn't believe in Hell though. He claimed there is no eternal punishment, just lack of any further existence after death.
When I asked him what then is the motivation for acting morally, for those who believe in Christ and are going to be granted eternal life, he retorted "Would you want to act immorally, if you knew you had to live forever with the _knowledge_ of it being immoral? _I_ wouldn't".
Very consistent, if not convincing.
About, free will, his claim was that we do have it, but not all the time. On occasion, God can and will override our free will and push us in a different direction.
The most logically consistent Christians that I met are those who are _not_ actively proselytising it.
This Catholic I mentioned, did try to convert me, but admitted it is a matter of faith and not logic that anyone should believe in the doctrine. When he didn't see me tempted by a promise of eternal life in exchange for a belief, he didn't try again.
@Jesus Christ Hell is a choice you make and so is Heaven a choice you make. If you don't want God in this life why would God violate your choice in the next life? Heaven is God's Home and Hell is not. Hell is simply the opposite of Heaven. Jesus taught throughout the Gospels that to know the owner of the House is the guaranteed way into the House. Jesus left the House to tell us about it and claims to be the Son who co-owns the house with God the Father. Forgive me for a long answer but I like simplicity and I find it illuminating. I hope it helps.
What’s amazing about Ravi is he’s lived a lifetime debating his ideas, yet every conversation he has love and care in his heart for everyone he speaks too.

That is why you didn't see him debate, no that he was afraid or was incapable, but because debating is about winning an argument for yourself and he was about winning someone for Christ.
It becomes clear from this discussion why Dave is a great interviewer: he's a great listener.

John, listen to Razi Z at Princeton, UCLA, Liberty University any of his lectures or Q&A's He was brilliant and such a gentleman. I had listened to about 6 or 8 hours of his TH-cam videos before I learned that he had passed on May 19. I can't believe I had not heard of him. So glad I found him. Anyone that went to public schools in the '60s till now and especially those from broken homes need to listen to Razi. Commit to 3 hours. If you have depressed teenagers especially. Anyone who is seeking to make sense of our world. I personally do not have those questions anymore, but I love Ravi Zacharias.

Dave Rubin, I have watched your channel on and off for about two years. You have stated you are an atheist, gay and a classic libertarian, I say this with the utmost respect. I have never seen anyone more open to freedom of speech and new ideas then you are. Everyone wants to yell in there own echo chamber, you are completely opposite, you are open to new ideas open to discussion with people with different views. You are an example to us all. Keep on doing what you are doing, we need more open dialogue.

The cost of truth is huge, but conviction with compassion is indispensable.
There are really four questions of life: origin, meaning, morality and destiny.
That forms our worldview. Where did I come from? What does life actually means? How do I differentiate good and evil? What happens to a human being when he or she dies? Therefore, you put the two tests of truth, correspondence and coherence. Are my answers corresponding to reality? When my answers are put together, is there a coherence to them? The judeo Christian worldview meets the due test of correspondence and coherence with the four questions of life.
What was missing in the old testament? What was wrong?
There's nothing wrong.
It was the gradual unfolding of that relationship with God that we were offered, and that the grace that is given to you and me right from the beginning, has hints of this. The mirror of the law told me my face was dirty, but the mirror couldn't clean my face. I had to go to the faucet to find that cleansing. It's a complimentaryness and a completion.
Old Hebrew parable:
God is like the light, happiness and prosperity is like the shadow. If you walk towards the light, a shadow will follow you. If you turn your back upon the light and chase the shadow, you will never, ever catch up to it.
I think what we need is a test of character, not uniform in our beliefs, but a character that will hold integrity as a primary method of discourse. If you lose that, you lose the discourse.
Truth by definition is exclusive, if one person disagrees with the other, there's still the necessity of truth.
Even if we have our fundamental disagreements, I have to respect your right to your thinking, and hopefully in the end as we dialogue, the truth will have its way.

TH-cam is most prominent in the USA. I live in Germany. Even though TH-cam is spreading here, it is not viewed as a platform for serious topics. In fact TH-cam is prompting itself as an entertainment platform. Not as an educational platform. Which is a sad thing.

This is a dream come true for me. Ravi Zacharias changed my life 15 years ago. I became a deep thinker because of him. His podcast prepared me to not be indoctrinated in college. I don't I think I would be a Christian today without him.

Maybe like a parent or an elder person who calls you by your full name that you don't correct or mention because somehow it would seem disrespectful.
My religious leaders often call me Jonathon, even tho most people call me Jon - and it just seems right. I respect them, and it brings me a subtle warm feeling to hear someone I respect use my full name in a dignified manner while they speak to me about life's important lessons.

This is quite interesting because in Russia it is exactly the opposite, where your parents and other people close to you call you by a shortened name or in other gentle way but all the rest of people who are not close to you call you by your full name.

I respect Rubin for being not only willing to have guests on that he does not agree with , but also actually listening to what the man has to say. Yes, Rubin is openly gay; No, I do not agree with that lifestyle from a Biblical perspective. However, Rubin does not regard the Word as either infallible nor Authoritative. Yet, Rubin is willing to hear someone out (without attacking or mocking)who does; and with someone of Ravi's abilities and gifts, we don't know what the Holy Spirit will do in Rubin's heart because of his willingness to hear. Ravi is doing the Great Commission, going into places that might be hostile to the message of Christ. In this case, there's no hostility or animosity on Rubin's part. And THAT is what I respect.
Come off your high horse and see it from God's perspective. Would you rather lose Rubin by regarding him as someone not worthy of discussing such deep things because of his sinful lifestyle? Or would you rather watch the Holy Spirit transform his thinking by softening his heart to receive the truth presented in humility and gentleness? Why shouldn't we try to go rescue the one lamb that is lost?
The Stig what is interesting is your view, which more aligns with the first half of the statement RZ makes of how God didn’t come to make bad people good, but to make dead people alive. You seem to value the this first part a lot. This is not dismissing that being saved makes you a changed creature, as RZ does talk about. You are walking the fine line of shame vs conviction. There is a difference with each approach. And what disturbs me more is that based off a few posts are you seriously trying to say the other poster is not saved? If so, that is a lot of arrogance. Yes we are to judge other Christians actions, but that was a stretch if you ask me based off that little bit.
Rubin is searching. If you can’t see that you must be blind. This can be proof that he is searching for God, or that God is drawing him. I happen to believe that there is no sinner too far out of Gods reach, and Rubin is within it. God’s Grace and Mercy knows no bounds. Paul, prior being the murderous zealot Saul ring any bells? Or better yet, that Paul then went to Corinth and preached to people who had orgies to please their god Aphrodite? Incredible sexual deviants yet become apart of the Christian church. Reading both books of Corinthians shows their struggles but Paul met them both with convocation and love (Truth and Grace). While RZ didn’t call out Rubin directly, I don’t believe this had to be said based off their conversation detailing they had great known differences but yet can be civil. Why mention being civil? Because of his homosexuality, that is easy to understand during this part of the conversation. RZ knows Rubin is aware, that he doesn’t have to tell him his belief on this and rather gave his testimony and show that his life without God as his foundation doesn’t lead to the same outcome as living a good life. Did you notice how excited and happy RZ was to tell this to Rubin? Man there was a lot you missed by being critical or being blinded by your hatred. Think of how this audience you worry about seeing Rubin being being gay has heard a life transformed by God! Amazing that this can be heard on this platform. Not once did RZ say his lifestyle was fine, but he did thank him for his conduct.
Speaking of audiences, it’s good to remember how each audience is spoken to in the as well in the New Testament. Notice the differences throughout in approach for believers and nonbelievers, or with Pharacies vs more traditional Jews. As mentioned by the other poster, the approach toward those who preach but don’t follow God’s way, or those who aren’t believers and are in a similar situation that Rubin possibly is (searching, not vehemently against God’s ways). Come on man, you know this.

-Of course not. I have no idea about him/her aside from what was shared, and any critique I have should be construed narrowly. My only real issue with the original post was the claim of having 'total respect' for Rubin. I simply cannot have respect for someone who could potentially (but let's be realistic, he probably has) lead someone away from God with his example, and bring them eternal suffering. And I don't see how any Christian can say they respect him totally, if they truly understand the consequences.

-I agree with you almost completely. But I should remind you of Mark 3:28-29:
"Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin."
I have no idea if Rubin can be saved, though personally I think it's pretty likely. People can be saved from homosexuality as any other sin, and I don't think the occasional curse word falls into the category of eternal sin (not certain), but I can't deny we've been told that there is such a thing as an unforgivable sin.

-Wow, you are so wildly off the mark where I'm coming from. Let me elaborate: I do not hate Dave Rubin or gay people. In fact, I often wonder why God made humans capable of homosexuality in the first place, if it was going to be so specifically condemned. Given how the rest of the animal world looks, it feels like it even makes a sort of sense that some people would be homosexual, so I get why pretty much everyone (in the west anyway) is mostly okay with it. But that's irrelevant because of what is spelled out in Scripture. And it's the consequence of sin that drives me to speak the truth to everyone I meet. If I knew Dave Rubin was suffering in Hell, I'd probably cry if I thought about it for too long. I've listened to him speak. He seems like a perfectly nice guy. I don't want him there. I don't want anyone there. But just imagine if, say, 5 children enter into their own gay lifestyle and rejected Christ, specifically because of Dave Rubin's example. And because they watched Dave's show, and because they saw friendly Christians who talked with him, they never understood the consequences of their decision. An Eternity of separation from God. Suffering. For 5 (in reality way more) eternal souls that could have been saved.
Would it still be worth it to have a Christian come on this show and not warn them? If you don't warn them and you could have, who really cared about them?
Ravi showed me here that evangelism and apologetics is not simply about talking of Jesus and eternal destiny. He speaks earnestly with joy in his heart and a deep yearning to understand. This is the kind of wisdom that only comes with age. This is why we should listen to our seniors but the indoctrination centers have convinced our young they know it all.
Worse yet, they're convincing young people that all those before them were just sexist, racist, homophobic, bigots deserving ridicule, humiliation and discredit. This is the type of indoctrination and ideology held by youthful radicals during China's cultural communist revolution. One so-called progressive young man recently commented elsewhere that he would consider it great "progress" if one day his future grandchildren were to dislike him, hate him even, and consider him a sexist, racist bigot due to his current "progressive" views. @@tsveno72 i believe in God but im not religious, i think a perspective in believing in God can he achieved rationally. The classical idea of God is that God is eternal, it created or is creating the universe, and God is omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient. If we substitute or exchange the word God with the word energy then all of those statements become true.
Science concludes that energy cannot be created or destroyed. If energy cant be created, then that means that energy was never created yet it somehow exists? If something has never been created then it doesnt exist, it is irrational to say that something exists when it has never been created. Yet it is true, also energy cant be destroyed. So energy is eternal.
Quantam physicists tell us that the entire universe can be reduced to the level of the atom. But there is nothing physical about the atom, it is a strange interplay between positive energy proton and negative energy electron. But these subatomic particles are not physical, they have string theory but its not actually a physical string. It is a positive energy vibration and a negative energy vibration. So the entire universe can be reduced to positive energy proton and negative energy electron. So energy is omnipresent. If something exists it is energy, noone can show me something that cant be reduced to energy. Following the same logic one can also conclude that energy is omnipotent and omniscient.
Also the atom is the building block for the physical universe. Somewhere somehow. There is a software programming that lets the atom know how to manifest in reality as a liquid solid or gas depending on the number of protons in the nucleus. So the atom which consists of protons and electrons is creating physical reality.
So energy is eternal, energy is the 3 omnis, and energy is creating the physical universe. So in my view, God is in some way energy. The bible says God is the holy spirit, spirit sounds like some ghostly non physical substance, and its not a big leap to think perhaps spirit is somehow a similar substance as energy. In my opinion God is like an infinite web of energy, or an energy matrix from which all things exist within it, all things are an expression of energy, all things are one and one is all.

I know Ravi just passed away recently but I have been listening to his preachings for about four years now and I was very impressed by his ways of teaching and the softness of his speech, he captured my attention with every talk. I am a cancer survivor and still fighting, but Ravi is such an inspiration in my life that I can’t describe any further. Rest In Peace with the Lord Ravi.

Man, this interview really hits me hard.
When I became a Christian 5 years ago, Ravi was one of the first people to introduce me to apologetics. I became a deeper thinker because of him. I learned to react to situations logically, and began to question the philosophical ideas on meaning and morality.
I became agnostic a year ago and seeing Ravi with one of my favorite interviewers brought back what seems like ancient memories. I genuinely miss having faith now. Life made so much more sense.
This is probably one of the greatest conversations I've ever watched. It came at just the right time.
Dr Zacharias has provided invaluable insight into our world and Thank God for such a voice. He will be missed.

Dave Rubin is such a good interviewer. He is a master in asking questions and carrying on in dialogue. I hope I can learn from him in this.

With all due respect and humbleness, the saved do not go straight to heaven when they die. They are dead, in the grave, until Jesus returns and the resurrection takes place. Please study what the Bible says on the subject.

@@mrs1758 They don't "go" anywhere, the body decomposes in the grave, and the breath of life returns to God who gave it. The "living soul" is no longer living, as the body and the breath of life are not united. The Bible compares this to a "sleep", where the dead "know nothing". When Jesus returns the saved will be resurrected first, and then the lost 1000 years later.

When Ravi Zacharias passed away in May 2020, I began reading around who he was, what he stood for. I came across this interview, which was so refreshing to see him be allowed to discuss his views openly, without being shut down or made to feel he was not well 'informed' 'living in another era' 'out dated' etc. Since then I have watched many interviews on The Rubin Report, Larry Elder, Braidon Tatum, Candice Owen, Dave Webb, Jordan Peterson and more.... I'm Welsh/British, Christian, Female, been living in USA since 2010, I am also an American citizen. Watching these videos have been so refreshing....simply because most people on here have been saying what I have been sensing for years. I would say arriving in the USA I was more leaning towards left, in all honest I had never really thought politics through on a deep level and accepted my cultural heritage and working class background as...vote labour or liberal, but don't vote Conservative ( even though many times I did not vote as did not feel I knew enough out things to vote). That has changed. I finally see the more I listened to Trump adminstration policies, his office, that I actually agree with a lot of what he says. He LOVES America, he has honoured Israel, has honoured christians (who have been silent in politics), and that's just the start. I have bought Dave Rubin's book and really am encouraged as I read, that finally even though on some issues we may disagree on( I agree with much of it btw)..it's great to be open and watching so many other shows now like Ben Shappiro also has really given me hope for AMERICA. Most of my family and friends in UK laugh because I am now more aligned towards Trump and much if what he is trying to do. It's this program that began to put in to words what I thought was so frustrating, the feeling that one should be silent especially if you are a Christian and believe in a Judeo-Christian world view. SO THANK YOU FOR BEING A PIONEER IN BEING ONE WHO CHOSE TO STEP OUT FIRST Many are walking away for far left wing ideologies now....and although they may not have began to speak out as yet, they are beginning to see some hope for true freedom...the tide of truth is rising faster and the overflow is coming to wash away many of the false hoods that have caused many beautiful souls of feeling 'accused' and of holding on to untrue sentiments and belief systems because they disagree with much of left wing ideologies. Dave, I just want to thank you for having Ravi on. I get the feeling you wanted to be picky on who you would invite to be your first evangelical Christian with which to dialogue. Given the social and political backdrop of the last 7 years, it is understandable. I thank you for just having a conversation with another human being and allowing them to share their beliefs and asking good questions.
Yeah, there are a lot of "evangelical Christians" who would have made very terrible guests. But Ravi has always approached things with such a kind and thoughtful demeanor, which is perfect for this show.

Many of the OT prophets didn't bring new revelation from God as much as remind people about what God had already said, that they had forgotten..

I have come here after watching the interview with Kayleigh....president Trumps press secretary who was giving tribute to this wonderful man( who I had not heard of). It's amazing how God works through his people to deliver the Word...I believe God has sent me here to hear this...through watching your President, watching his press secretary and revealing this most wonderful interview the only conclusion to come to Is God will always deliver peace and clarity through the people he has chosen to use and for this I am so gracefully blessed and thank you all. Dave is the absolute BEST interviewer, he asks thoughtful and sincere questions, and actually gives his guests (whoever they are) space to answer...He listens and dialogues. Tell me, what other channel has a better host?
My personal favorite is Peter Robinson at the Hoover institute. Rarely have I encountered hosts who thoroughly researched his guests (particularly with books, no offense to Dave Rubin but I didn't get the impression he had read any of Ravi's material) and asks questions or plays the Devil's advocate so well.

I am watching on July 8, 2020 in the midst of Covid, race wars and chaos across this country. Little did Ravi know that the horrific event he said must take place for revival would come so soon. What an amazing interview to watch two people with polarized beliefs have a warm, respectful discussion. i learned so much from this.
But did the chaos of Covid bring a revival? I'm confident it brought some to the Lord, and opened many eyes to the deep layers of corruption and greed suffocating us...but revival? I think not. Just more division and confusion...
Ravi was such a beautiful mind-- he will be missed-- I really hope he and Peterson were able to meet I hope we can hear that conversation some day!
