I built mine a few years back after watching this, made mine bigger by adding a table section to the left, and built it higher overall, never laid a brick before, surprised myself, what I also did was mix the mortar a bit stronger than here, mine still standing like new, used often What I did learn was respect for bricklayers, this is not as easy it looks but go for it
I am a lady, do not have experience with laying bricks, but want my own outdoor kitchen, you just gave me a confidence and knowledge to do it, will use your video as a guide, thank you🙏

I started building my brick bbq the other day. A friend of mine helped me get started. I followed your directions and the bbq is coming along. The hardest part was getting the mortar to look like what you are using. I was told to add Hydrated Lime to the premixed mortar and it took a few tries, but I got it. I'm up 6 rows. This is my first time but I've always wanted to lay some brick. I did have a mason come out to give me a bid, but I think the job was too small for what he does. It's hard work but I'm enjoying it.

No he is not a pro he needs to learn how to spread his mudd and furrow it with his trowel! you dont use two hands what a boot, Richard Warren i am not clueless ! Been laying brick for 47 years and you dont have to stop and wait for that mudd to set before going up with more courses that mudd startes seting as soon as you spread that mudd. He would make a beter Barber as much as he try's to shave that brick with his trowel.

literally 1 minute ago my mom was telling me to go with her to find a grill and i was talking to her about how my uncle made his own brick bbq. i goto my room, open up youtube and this is the first vid i see, lol. phones are always listening
Since he’s a brickie and has probably done this hundreds of times he did something at the start of the vid and didn’t mention it. He threw the cement mix from the bucket onto the surface now you want yours too look as close to that as possible, it’s called a slump test and is a good way of checking the consistency of the cement mix by sight.
real professional...im actually living in mexico...i started my own carne asada buisness..but i quicky found out my grill isnt big enough....so now im thinkin bout buiding a similiar grill....i can leave it permanantly there...thx
Brick BBQs used to be an American standard. Now we go to the local super store & buy a propane & stainless steel conglomeration made 10,000 miles away. I don't know... I think I like his better.

I own a construction firm and i can tell you... this guys skill is on a level 9999..
Really? Won’t the dry brick suck the moisture right out of the mortar and weaken the bond? Other than that he’s spot on.
He’d be fired by break. Union guys here need to lay 400 brick a day a minimum.
