First half is a drag with a lot of disjointed narratives and fails to emotionally invest the viewer in many of them, while the second half is brilliant.

Exactly bro! When they say they have seen Allah or Jesus, those are also obviously stories told by ancestors throughout centuries, just like our ancestors have passed on the story of Mahabharat. And we even have ramsetu as proof for the existence of ramayan!
There was too much wasted on Prabhas with his dull humor and lackluster swagger, but the producers seem to be in love him. However, the second half of the movie was fantastic! I just hope the filmmakers avoid imitating characters like Deadpool or Star-Lord (Guardians of the Galaxy) in the future. Another aspect that struck me at the beginning was the lackluster CGI and the emotionless scene when Lord Krishna cursed Ashwattama. There was no anger, fear, or pain-it felt like Lord Krishna was simply giving instructions for a game mission.
FYI sane audiences are also in love with Prabhas now not just producers. Even his flop movies will earn over 100 crs opening day.

Being a Tamilian, I always want to be honest. "Kalki" is a nice movie. The first half is a little lagging, but overall the movie is good. Amitabh Bachchan's action and the VFX are top-notch. The director's guts to match the Hollywood movie pattern is laudable. Prabhas' acting is very good. Kamal Hassan's five-minute appearance is also excellent. It's a "paisa vasool" (worth the money) movie. It's better than many Hindi movies. Go and enjoy it on the big screen. Make use of your money by watching good movies like "Kalki." It's a pride movie for India and the Telugu language.

For sure. As a Tamilian, I always knew a lot of Telugu producers were rich because some of the big producers in Tamil industry are also Telugu. Finally they have done justice with the budgets they have. The producers have become so bold and are making awesome movies. I even heard that Rajamouli is making the next highest budget movie of the country with Mahesh Babu and Deepika Padukone. Compared to Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, Bollywood is on decline.

But that is not how most Tamil people are. We genuinely enjoy good movies from the Telugu industry. Bahubali, RRR and even non Telugu films like KGF 1 and 2 also did well. I myself went to theatre and saw Kalki because the makers have made such a huge effort to give a good film. I also came across a few incels from the Telugu industry who did the same thing with Tamil films. They said very bad things.
Without first half you can't enjoy second half. I want to say one of the best movie I have seen recent times. Amitabh and Prabhas and Kamal are the pillars of the movie

Please don’t compare Bramhastra with Kalki. BW has been on decline for a long time. The only saving grace of BW is Deepika Padukone. And ofcourse, in Kalki also DP is cast. The only other movies whidh did massive business are Ranbir’s animal, but for that dude only d5generate roles work out (Sanju, Rockstar and now Animal).

Did anyone observe in the pre climax when sumathi is being rescued by both bhairava and ashwathama. Ashwathama lifts bhairava pulling and it was shown as if a new child is being brought and also that closeup refers to Achilles (immortal with kavacha kundaralu from Troy) and the final twist reveals.

Someone tell this woman that it takes more than one movie to create a cinematic universe. Of course there will be lags in the first part. The world building character intro and story plot takes time.
If this movie was just the 2nd half ,it would've competed woth the best of Hollywood that is how rousing it is .

First half is necessary to introduce world to introduce characters currency and a lot more also bhairava is a selfish guy his dream is to go to complex and lot more its a necessity otherwise normal audience will not know anything about this world
I guess the bizarreness of dialogue can be intentional to some extent. I mean, its hard for us to assume how would be the future lingo so a little of bit of this, and a little bit of that is not a bad thing. The dialogue delivery of some characteristics including Prabhas could be a tad better at least when you compare it to Amitabh Bachchan sir or Kamal Hasan sir.
To be honest, first half of the movie was boring except Kamal Haasan sir's part. Moreover there were some unnecessary cringe action scenes and jokes which did not add any importance to the plot of the movie. On top of that the CGI of Big B's young looks was not up to the mark. Although the second half was good, especially the flashback scenes from Mahabharata gave goosebumps. Prabhas was used better in serious scenes than comedies. Besides Mr. Bacchan was phenomenal!
Ignore her and watch this movie bros indian cinema like this needs to be praised so that we can get rid of the cursed movies like adipurush
Kudos to Nag Ashwin first for the very bold attempt at making a story like this!! Story is the backbone of the film and is carried so very nicely by all the lead star cast. A very well researched and written story! Merging characters from the past , references to scriptures and predictions in them combined with a stellar world set in the future wow! The movie takes your mind body and soul to a new world.
Yes we have seen Shambala, Complex and Khashi in the trailers and teasers but when you see them in large screen and for continued time, the way people are , their beliefs, what they stand for and hope for, who they protect and serve is all shown so beautifully!
I did think it had resemblance to other movies but if earth were to lose its resources it would be full of sand dunes with few habitable areas . If you are close to nature and with peace with it I can totally believe a quiet place over the mountains . Moving on to the characters
I cannot imagine anyone else performing Ashwathama if as per scriptures , he needs to protect the next avatar and to stand tall against all the future enhancements Amitabh ji just does it so convincingly. His telugu diction is so perfect and so suits the character!!!! He steals the show!!!
Prabhas as Bhairava brings in nice comedy refresher . All the Ashwathama and Bhairava fight sequences are a visual treat pre and post intermission.
I agree with what Nag Ashwin and Prabhas mentioned in one of the interview, if someone needs to stand against characters like Ashwathama and Bhairava you need a supreme villain , Kamal sir it is!! I am excited for what is next for this role . The context is set well for yashkin. Deepika looks very beautiful and again waiting for a bit more character building for her .
First half has issues with some unnecessary sequence and drags out a few scenes which I wish could have been avoided . Some of it helps set the world but I got slightly bored. I did not see the Amazon short versions to be clear. Still I felt it was not necessary. I could have easily taken an extra scene or two at Shambala or complex .
There are a few goosebumps moments in the movie . If you like Indian mythology and If you are a believer in God you for sure will like it more. Life finds a way! A little bit of context on kali, Kalki avatar , Kalki Puran did help appreciate some scenes even more. Climax / Last 30 mins is very very good!!
Vfx in this movie is the best I have seen in an Indian Movie. So many movies have/had the budget but fell so flat but this one No!!! So very impressed with all the sequences. Hardwork and attention to detail shows in every scene . Kudos to all the team involved .
Music is one with the movie for most part except for one unnecessary song in the first half . Only that song felt so out of place and fake . Other than this bgm take a lot of scenes to next level.
I get how the director and the crew decided to rather focus on editing and using any time
Budget left on post production than on promotions . I really really hope word of mouth gets around and more and more people watch it!!

Movie mai Basic Mai thoda rada hai as follows
1.They have shown that Bhagwan Kalki Is an invitro child which in reality he's obviously not. By Bhavishya Puran His Father's name is Vishnuyashas and Mother's name is Sumati.
2.Why is Ashwathama fighting with Hands (Physically)when he already has powerful spiritual Astra like Brahmastra.
3.Shambhala is a spiritual place where the greatest yogis and munis reside and it is a place which you can't enter unless and until you are spirituality enlightened.
4.Why none of the people while fighting use any Spiritual Powers like bro in Sambhala there are munis who are meditating for thousands of years(there is also reference of Shambhala in Ramayana where Maharshi Vishwamitra bring Shri Ram and Prabhu Laxman to teach them some secret Vidya)
She is finding it hard to call the movie outstanding 😂 It clearly is outstanding 🔥🔥 .Artists are from all over India who have given their best. Lets appreciate them all unbiasedly 👏

To be fair, the inconsistent vocabulary makes sense in this world with a mixture of modern technology and ancient myths, especially when looking at the Complex, and Shambhala as two opposite parts of the world, with Kashi stuck somewhere in between.
It's almost like the Cyberpunk setting, where modern techno vocabulary meets japanese traditionalism.
The film is very smartly made, the setup for the sequel is unique and one of its kind
If music department has permoformed a bit better this movie would have created a huge history. Any how good attempt and best wishes for future sequels

Some people are comparing kalki with dune and some other hollywood movies but we are comparing with hollywood movies visuals is for the first time in Indian cinema history that means we can understand how great efforts they put into kalki.
I have seen dune and they both are not same.
This doesn't look like a review at all. This is just narrating the story whilst spoiling for those who haven't seen it yet. I wonder how you even claim to be a film critic.
Phew! Can’t believe Anupama is knit picking so hard. Almost looks like the review is not really genuine and pushing some Bollywood big wig’s agenda.
Honestly, all the negatives she mentioned are too small and barely distract you from the meat of the movie! This movie is beyond fantastic and the most mind blowing movie ever made in India.
Eat that, Bollywood!

5. Skillfully executed Mahabharata parts.
6. Intense fight scene between Amitabh and Prabhas.
7. Bujji had a much better personality.
8. The Karna scene gave me goosebumps.

1. Scattered screenplay: Felt patchy, lacked flow, and included unnecessary scenes.
2. Plain and direct dialogues without subtext.
3. Excessive use of English.
4. Poor acting by extras, who merely recited lines without genuine performance.
5. Editing lacked cohesiveness.
6. Cameos that didn't contribute to the story; every character should propel the narrative, not serve as a gimmick.
7. Subpar fight sequences in the first half.
8. Excessive talking rather than acting; emphasize showing over telling.
9. Poor introduction of Prabhas.
10. All scenes with Disha Patani.
11. Unnecessary comedy.
12. Despite brilliant sets, many felt inspired by "Mad Max: Fury Road" rather than Indian culture.
13. The guns looked like they were made of thermocol.

CGI is a tool for storytelling, not the main focus. India excels in storytelling and should emphasize that rather than trying to match another industry's advancements.
Overextending to compete has proven ineffective. We bit more than we could chew.

These reviewers don't know anything just by seeing sand related scenes they will it's in dune ,in sand fight they say madmax fury road but when they scenes like Mahabharata portion they are gonna silent .despite dyspotion world where they will when don't water ,trees may be these reviews want fights,scenes in their mind of reviewrs then they will satisfy ohh this scene didn't happen in sand

Initially I felt it's slow but the when you understand story 2nd half and action.its brilliant and must watch.
If they have chosen any body other than Amitabh this movie might not have work

Background score was a disappointment tbh
Went in with high hopes but unfortunately it was a snooze fest. The screenplay was so slow & just boring. The only good parts were Amitabh Bachan's sequences, Mahabharata scenes & the final reveal. A lot of the story & vfx set pieces were a blatant rip off of several Hollywood movies and it was just painful to watch. The camera and the stunt sequence was very basic. The entire story could have easily been told in a single movie.
I believe everything worked stellar and path breaking movie for Indian Cinema - the editing of the movie along with sound utility could have been improved
