Anthony Cumia, one of the two hosts, built a studio in his own home and started doing podcasts on the weekend for fun in late 00's, early 10's, and Rogan has said it was Cumia who directly influenced him to start a podcast of his own, and that the O&A show's relatively format-less style, where the hosts and guests often just talked about whatever they pleased for 3-4 hours, inspired Rogan's long form conversational style.
Stern really did hate those guys, he heard they were at at an event he was at and had security kick them out. They made jokes about his daughter doing a play and the howiecopter. They also mentioned something about a Christmas party and his daughter. They worked for the same company and Howard had the boss ban them from saying Howards name. So that was areal feud and not just a radio bit. The only time Howard talked about them was after they got fired.

Stern’s old stuff was great, particularly the first few years at Sirius. But Rogan really saw the future coming and innovated in the podcast space before most people. Which is why he’s now much more influential.

I'm a old Howard Stern fan, listened to him growing up and have watched and listened to basically as many episodes of his show in the 80's - mid 2000's that a human can. Howard Stern basically is hated by basically everybody who used to work with him or was associated with him because he threw everybody under the bus just like he did Joe Rogan but worse; and he changed his entire persona, identity and is a full on hypocrite trying to erase his own past. He's the greatest radio host of all time and a incredibly skilled talker. He's also the opposite of that person and has been since around and before 2007. The example case of "You live long enough to see yourself become the victim." all the people he fought against his entire career -- as soon as he could join them and take the easy road. He did. Not to demean Joe Rogan in any way, but I think a lot of people severely underestimate just how massive Howard was. The Howard Stern show was getting 20 million concurrent listeners at his peak, while Joe Rogan gets averages around 10-12mil views per episode.

Part of the problem with people only watching Rogan clips is they never see how deep his guests get into subjects they are professionally qualified to discuss. The reason he was so confident in his opinion is because he talked to many doctors and scientists who were not on the woke pay role. Many of the people who helped Rogan develop his educated opinion got cancelled and then were proved correct later. You would have a better judgement on the situation if you actually watched 1000's of full episodes, instead of 5000 clips. Watching Asmon clips doesn't show the complexity of his opinions, character, or beliefs.

As a doctor, people don’t know how much pressure we have to not ask questions about the vaccine or about gender issues in children. We could lose our jobs or stifle our careers for even posing a question. We unfortunately rely on people like Joe Rogan to ask the questions even if he doesn’t know the answers because we aren’t allowed to.
As a medical student, this is BS about the vaccine. You can ask questions, research questions, report findings, report side effects, ect.... This is how medicine and science works.

For some reason we've created a "for or against" mentality. Nobody thinks exactly the same as me on every issue, and I'm happy to have conversations with open-minded individuals, but I feel like some people just want an excuse to hate.
A new generation of people are finding out how awful some of these old school radio personalities are. Much of the time their entire business model was just simply being the worst human beings in the name of "entertainment". I was really bored once and the only book available was Stern's autobiography. It was absolutely bizarre how he took no responsibility for anything he ever did or said. Then fast forward a bunch of years to his current show and it is even more off putting. To write a book as a 45 year old where you self describe yourself as a certain type of person and then go on to have the most passive interviews / softball interviews with politicians just shows that you are fake.
More or less. He does still emphasize that he’s just a comedian talking to people, and he does try to avoid completely talking out of his ass on important topics. He’s just willing to use common sense and consider ideas that aren’t exactly mainstream rather than just believing and following whatever the popular media is saying. So he still makes mistakes and gets stuff wrong every now and then, but he’s willing to admit when he’s wrong too.

As someone who grew up in the 90’s I think the last time Stern was relevant to my generation, or at least to my knowledge, was around 9/11. His coverage on his show that day was legendary. After that it was basically nothing until he became a judge on America’s Got Talent which was obviously completely different and had almost nothing to do with his previous career.

I'm a old Howard Stern fan, listened to him growing up and have watched and listened to basically as many episodes of his show in the 80's - mid 2000's that a human can.
Howard Stern basically is hated by basically everybody who used to work with him or was associated with him because he threw everybody under the bus just like he did Joe Rogan but worse; and he changed his entire persona, identity and is a full on hypocrite trying to erase his own past.
He's the greatest radio host of all time and a incredibly skilled talker. He's also the opposite of that person and has been since around and before 2007. Part of the problem with people only watching Rogan clips is they never see how deep his guests get into subjects they are professionally qualified to discuss. The reason he was so confident in his opinion is because he talked to many doctors and scientists who were not on the woke pay role. Many of the people who helped Rogan develop his educated opinion got cancelled and then were proved correct later.

Much of the time their entire business model was just simply being the worst human beings in the name of "entertainment". I was really bored once and the only book available was Stern's autobiography. It was absolutely bizarre how he took no responsibility for anything he ever did or said. Then fast forward a bunch of years to his current show and it is even more off putting. To write a book as a 45 year old where you self describe yourself as a certain type of person and then go on to have the most passive interviews / softball interviews with politicians just shows that you are fake.

I agree with your point but also agree with Asmon. JK can absolutely have an opinion about trans issues and caring about women's spaces. The hate and vitriol she's received is horrible. My understanding from Asmons statement is that the people who got angry and tried boycotting her books/associated video games are morons and should be able to separate the two. You can still like her IP, and if your butthurt about her personal political opinions just don't listen. She's not a dictator forcing her views on anyone.

hear me out, they probably got close, joe found out something about stern and stern got scared. hes got a bigger platform at the time so he used it to villainify joe before he could say anything about stern so that anything joe said that was true just seemed like him trying to get back at stern with lies.
From this story, Stern seems like a gossipy immature guy. He has no social grace which is cool for cheap entertainment, but is a terrible quality for a potential friend. Just no reason for Joe to hang out with this has-been that is clinging to his legacy while Joe is free to do whatever he wants. Also just trashy to bring in his ex, or take him to a strip club and then start blabbing about how he acted.

In terms of shows, there is no funnier show that was peak Opie and Anthony. When that show had Loui CK and Patrice O’Neal, Bill Burr and others, it was dynamite. I’d urge anyone to listen to a segment called Paranoid Patrice, kills me every time and if you don’t like racial jokes check yourself

One thing that guy didn't mention is that Joe became a semi regular guest on The Opie and Anthony Radio show and Stern hated those guys.
As someone who grew up in the 90’s I think the last time Stern was relevant to my generation, or at least to my knowledge, was around 9/11. His coverage on his show that day was legendary. After that it was basically nothing until he became a judge on America’s Got Talent which was obviously completely different and had almost nothing to do with his previous career.
It blows my mind that Howard Sterns opinions are still even considered in todays cancel culture

Technically he did, but it’s used in humans too. If you’ve ever taken basically any antibiotic then they could say you’ve taken horse antibiotics as well, because they’re used for both humans and animals. Joe Rogan is intelligent and interviewing expert guests on the subject actually gives him credibility. Prob is doctors were silent and or complacent. The whole roll out of unproven, untested medical recommendations were the whole reason for the FDA and we just straight ignored and shamed people who questioned whether this was safe or effective.

my mom had surgery last Friday. her heart has been trash since her covid vaccine. swelling and fluid around heart for no reason, pulse accelerating randomly, or she gets dizzy and weak. she cant even say that she thinks it was the vaccine without people calling her a liar. how many people need to say they know someone who was hurt before it hits their brains? 2 people they know?10? the fact that they were told not to report on side effects to the CDC because it could cause "vaccine hesitancy" should have told us everything.
