@chetanamarnath3627 Very bad game design. If a player is out of legal moves that should be a checkmate, obviously. They should lose. Why reward the losing player who was clearly outplayed? The stalemate concept leads to too many draws. But it's understandable that the game is so poorly made because people made it 100 years ago and back then they had no good knowledge about game design theory. You would expect smarter people to change the rules to make it make more sense though. 🤔
I guess they decided to stick with dumb rules because of tradition.

GM Alex Yermo analyzed these types of endgame on ICC insane difficult endgame to play. Both made mistakes, but Nihals Re8 move was correct approach counterplay

I was thinking the same! After Bb4 I think Black loses material by force.
Same I didnt do deep calculation but I suspect the move was Bb4, seems natural and aggressive.
