I don't care what others think...it brings back great memories and happiness to me, which is what Christmas is partially about. Peace on earth and goodwill to all! Merry Christmas to one and all! The last 2 years I missed it. They seem to put on the old Christmas shows too early, and I forgot until too late. One I really miss is The Little Drummer Boy. Doesn't really seem like Christmas without watching these shows.

I’ve watched this movie so many times… I had never noticed that Santa grabbed Rudolph’s antler when “asking” him to guild the sleigh. Like dang… That seams a bit aggressive. Do reindeer feel that? Why did Santa feel the need to grab Rudolph’s antler? To tilt his head to the side like that? Look at Rudolph’s eyes when it happens. He’s clearly very uncomfortable by it.
That's why I don't like the movie because of Santa's role in the movie it ruined it for me, Santa is supposed to be kind, jolly and loving and accepting but in the movie he was judgemental towards Rudolph and treated him poorly until he found he was useful. Had Santa been loving and accepting to Rudolph throughout the movie I would have loved it

I always wanted a sequel with Clarice and Rudolph and his mom....explain why Clarice and his mom were so nice when the other reindeer were so judgmental.
That's why I don't like the movie because of Santa's role in the movie it ruined it for me, Santa is supposed to be kind, jolly and loving and accepting but in the movie he was judgemental towards Rudolph and treated him poorly until he found he was useful. Had Santa been loving and accepting to Rudolph throughout the movie I would have loved it. It's why I much preferred Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Frosty the Snowman because in those specials Santa is more kind and jolly and accepting as we know he should be. Because of that it is why between those Rankin Bass specials Rudolph was always my least favourite of the bunch.

But I would like to understand, since it's easy to own a quality video of this show, why CBS insists on annually running the same crummy copy with bad sound and choppy edits.
I just watched the bad edit today on CBS. It’s pretty weird. Here’s what I heard: Rudolph originally aired on NBC. The edited version is actually a dub over of a completely different musical segment called Fame and Fortune which was not in the original copy. The reason why they replaced the Misfits segment was to make room for the ending where Santa rescues the rejected toys (not in the original). The Misfits segment returned to CBS. About a decade later, CBS reissued the special remastered. It was hastily cut with Misfits track dubbed over, to make room for commercials. The original version can be seen on DVD, Blue Ray, and recently Freeform
@@horse6412 As I said, I will sometimes watch when it's broadcast. But that's when I'm reminded that CBS is not showing the optimum version. The sound has degraded and moments end abruptly or are poorly stitched together. If the network really cared anything about this property they'd clean up the audio, settle on a smooth edit and show it the respect it deserves. They could even remaster the sound in stereo as all of the music was recorded in stereo ( which I know from listening to the soundtrack album). Until then - unlikely - I'll rely on the dvd.

If the network really cared anything about this property they'd clean up the audio, settle on a smooth edit and show it the respect it deserves. They could even remaster the sound in stereo as all of the music was recorded in stereo ( which I know from listening to the soundtrack album). Until then - unlikely - I'll rely on the dvd.
@@cliffchristie5865 keep in mind technology wasn’t that great when they made this edit on CBS. With better editing methods in the 2020s, it’s about time CBS at least make a better dubbing of the Fame segment.
