It’s wonderful and great to see Rudolph on the special’s original network again, as this special aired on NBC from 1964 to 1971 and even on The General Electric Fantasy Hour. Because all 60’s kids who watched this special on NBC during Christmastime in the 1960’s are all gonna feel nostalgia because of this news! It’s gonna air on December 6 on NBC, which was the day the special premiered on the network in 1964 as this will be the 60th anniversary airing on the original network just like its first broadcast in 1964!
Zillennial here, and I never knew that NBC was the first to air Rudolph in the 60s. I will miss watching it on CBS, but it's amazing for NBC to air it again after a 51 year abscence from the network Also, CBS created the Frosty special first in 1969. The TV landscape is surprisingly changing these days.
Of all the Years I've Watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer I thought it Was on CBS! I didn't know It Premiered on NBC on December 6th 1964! Having it back on NBC should be very Interesting! The Today Show Gang should do a salute on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on Fri December 6th 2024! Maybe they should Sing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer! should be*interesting!
Rudolph is my childhood holiday Christmas classic and it always makes me feel young. I use to collect Rudolph and Clarice as a kid and Rudolph is a timeless character and it’s song. Happy Anniversary Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer
I fondly recall watching the premiere of this classic movie 🍿 in 1964! Five yrs later I was overseas in Vietnam and we didn’t have TV 📺 over there! Just trying to stay alive! Looking forward to watching it with my children and grandchildren 60yrs later!
We went over to a family friend's house to watch the first broadcast because they had a COLOR TV. I liked how the elves were in the GE commercials, showing off the appliances...
Thank you, NBC, for bringing back Rudolph! I have had to watch the horrible editing on CBS for some amount of years and couldn’t wait for some other network to do a better job take care of this Christmas special.
Yeah there’s obviously Wikipedia so I knew prior to this that Rudolph did originally air on NBC but for so many of us him and Frosty are so synonymous with CBS that it will be culture shock when we tune in on December 5th and 6th and watch them on NBC. Very touchy move by NBC though welcoming Rudolph back to the network by showing it 60 years to the day after it first premiered on their airwaves.
Frosty’s been on CBS since its premier nearly 55 years ago. It’s very odd to see it move. Both of these specials have a special place in my heart and have been on CBS my whole life.
@@ryanjones358 I was born in 1972, so I never saw the special that first year, but years ago, I bought the Blu-Ray Rankin Bass set. There are some scenes that were shown maybe once but never again, i.e. the Peppermint mine scene with Yukon Cornelius. So, probably putting those scenes back in.
As Darth Vader would say in the first-ever _Star Wars_ movie: "The circle is now complete." NBCUniversal holds distribution rights for the 1964 _Rudolph_ special.
Maybe Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer was created to move merchandise for Montgomery Ward but that company is gone but their greatest creation is still here. It's one of the very few old songs that can make a cynical person still tear up a bit and warm their cynical cold heart. 💗💗💗💗
This will be the last time I watch it on NBC. They expanded the showing time from an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. It completely disrupted the flow of the show. At one point, there were 8 minutes of show followed by four minutes of commercials followed by seven minutes of show followed by five minutes of commercials. A few years ago, ABC ruined A Charlie Brown Christmas with excessive commercials and edits to the show and I bought a digital copy of the show to watch instead. Looks like I'll have to do the same thing with Rudolph.
This is probably why CBS only aired the special only once last year (2023), they were most likely letting the broadcast rights lapse. The broadcast I'm referring to had the special already airing in progress _25 minutes in,_ as a basketball game ran longer than intended.
While it's nice for this special to rerun on NBC after 5-6 decades of absence, the special technically premiered two days earlier on December 4th as part of the G.E. Fantasy Hour. So just so you know, December 4 marks the real 60th anniversary of Rudolph's premiere on NBC. Also, I'm the 100th commenter on this video!
Those dolls are in very bad condition , someone found them a year or so ago and a guy save the Sants and Rudolph from further deterioration it took a very long time to repair the damaged dolls.
Does that mean the Frosty specials will also air on NBC as well, or will they be sticking around on "The Eye" network? (Edit: I just found out Frosty will also air on NBC, but the question still stands as far as "Frosty Returns" is concerned as both specials have aired together when they were on CBS)
Warner Bros. (Via Telepictures) owns “Frostys Winter wonderland”-a direct sequel to “Frosty the Snowman”, while CBS Media Ventures owns “Frosty Returns”, its second sequel in 1992. With Andy Griffith narrating the former, and Jonathan Winters with the latter.
This special's a classic. No Christmas is complete without it.
Absolute favorite.
I was 3 days old and just home from hospital. My mom held me and me watched. My favorite!!!!!! ❤

At 66 years old, this is by far my favorite Christmas movie ❤❤! So glad it’s back home on NBC!!
Rudolph is my childhood holiday Christmas classic and it always makes me feel young. I use to collect Rudolph and Clarice as a kid and Rudolph is a timeless character and it’s song. Happy Anniversary Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer
It’s NEVER too late !! I already have my Christmas lights up and this show is traditional ever since I was a kid ❤

I really will be watching that this year if I can
Absolutely stunning to see Rudolph return to NBC. More importantly, it’ll be 75 minutes long on its return.
I thought Rudolph is a 60 minute special. What are they going to use the extra 15 minutes for?

If I remember, there will be some special features, which is why they'll add more time (75 minutes)
@@ryanjones358 Commercials! Seriously, they broke for commercials like every 10 minutes!

This is a special classic what would this world be without it
COME HOME TO NBC RUDOLPH COME HOME.
And as another slogan says, Rudolph on NBC? THAT is the PLACE TO BE.
Heh, I reckon most fans of these specials got these on DVD/Blu-Ray and can just watch them whenever they want.
Glad it’s still acknowledged on television
ok this is actually amazing
it's been since 1972 rudolph never came back
until now
Not only Rudolph, but Frosty too!
Wonder what's going at CBS?
Did you not see me say that? Not like this is the first. NBC snatched the grinch cartoon from CBS and is unlikely to return to its original parent.
And Bumble!
My holiday favorite 😍
I already have it on dvd.
I Love Rudolph The Red ♥️ Nose 👃 Reindeer 🦌 😀❤️😃😍💖💝 And Happy 50th Anniversary To Rudolph The Red ♥️ Nose 👃 Reindeer 🦌 1964 - 2024 😀❤️😃😍💖💝
Raging Rudolph! Thank you Mad TV.
I love Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer! 🦌
My childhood is back!!❤❤❤❤❤🥹🥹🤗
My favorite Christmas animation movie.
As Luz Noceda always say, "It comes to a full circle, baby!"
Yay! Rudolph is back!
I love him
Weird. They’ve been on CBS forever. But still, Rudolph was on NBC originally. Does that mean we’ll be seeing the old Peacock before the show begins?
I've only seen it once and it was on VHS.
I don't know how- cute movie though. :)
Welcome home, Rudolph 🔴

Welcome back to nbc Rudolph
It really depends on the networks to air those beloved timeless classics
Childhood memories
I wish this was on Peacock
Will play the soundtrack i have on cd after the show! Gonna be a partying night and trim the tree! Merry Christmas 🎄
Now bring back A Charlie Brown Christmas PLEASE.
It just went off now I really enjoyed it thanks for telling us about this
Really. We watch it every year!!
Merry Christmas and Happy 50th birthday, Rudolph!❤🦌

Rudolph the red nose reindeer is back 🎉
Rudolph is back on NBC!
December 6
The prodigal reindeer returns home
Glad to hear Rudolph will be on nbc as cbs reception on over the air tv in my area sucks
red nose reindeer meet the nbc peacock both are very colorful.
Yay!
60 years actually
Great film
Awesome!
Ive grow up with Rudolph the red nose reindeer 🦌
It’s stop motion guys, not claymation. Aardman is claymation
hurray, will they air it in its entirety???
Christmas Kid Shows are the most watched kid shows

I saw it on NBC during its first broadcast then it moved to CBS.
I like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer his little red nose is cute lol 😂😊
Yeah
The only difference on nbc Than CBS was more commercials
Those dolls are in very bad condition , someone found them a year or so ago and a guy save the Sants and Rudolph from further deterioration it took a very long time to repair the damaged dolls.
It's not claymation, it's Animagic (stop motion puppet animation)!
Cool 😊
❤❤
It wasn't claymation it was stop motion.
Why did CBS give it up after all these years??
can they just make a new series for Rudolph the rednosed reindeer
Wonder what's going on at CBS?
No! "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" is! Hardly ever played.
Is There A Rudolph Sequel?
I thought it was always on CBS
Wait a minute. It was actually 60 years old.
Rudolph, the red nose reindeer it’s not returning to CBS anymore…
*60* years. Better also have the "living color" peacock at the intro too.
We had it on NBC's premiere of Frosty the Snowman
@Joshua-pw8mz I noticed; thankfully the original GE clip with the "Laramie in living color" peacock survived and circulates here.
@@kingchrisl89 It did open with the living color peacock
@Joshua-pw8mz severely edited tho. They should've aired the entire 13 second intro.

Frosty Returns isn’t airing on TV at all.
@@TheLogoKid Do you know that for sure?
@@AndrewsMagicandMoreyes, it isn’t on CBS’s holiday schedule and is not listed on NBC’s perspective either.

A lot of BULLIES in that cartoon!!!
Give Frosty back to CBS. You can keep Rudolph.
Frosty was first created for CBS in 69'. The snowman should stay on the Eye network.
Rudolph is puppetry, not claymation.
If clay figures can be made to move that would be puppetry
Good. Now let's hope they don't include the horrible cut they made to "We're a Couple of Misfits".
Too bad streamers still block it due to rights issue
? After 50 years? Doesn’t it play every year?
if your A powerfull xmass wizard idk why you need some bioluminescent deer
Grow up. I loved it when I was a child, but I got over it. And don't @ me about my opinion.
Just depressing
