On a side note, I bought Sean Delaneys 1979 solo album and he thanks kiss on the back cover and I listened to it and one guitar solo sounded like Paul.

What's really sad is the huge variation in sound quality across these Kiss Soundboard releases. Poughkeepsie is only worth a listen because of the Mark St John factor, even then the mix is so random you can barely hear what he's playing. This concert and era is notable for Pauls stupid over reaching vocals. Sure he was at his absolute vocal maturity but why go to so much effort to distort Kiss classics with vocal highs at any opportunity. Mark St John's playing in the solos is very VERY curious because he reinvents the solo sections from scratch. He's not like a fake Ace Tommy Thayer style. Mark forged a new sound style and certainly had ability. Given Eric Carrs solid new tempo drumming adding Mark's new solos almost has old songs sounding like new songs. Sadly much of what Mark plays is very difficult to hear as I said earlier. I just wonder why a bit of incredible audio tech wasn't used to smarten up the sound. We all understand how much of Alive 1. 2 & 3 are not played live. So why is it now cool to release very substandard Soundboard releases?

It's a lot cheaper to release a soundboard recording than something like Alive.

Ace should put the call on his new record. As the intro then go into the first song on this record that's supposed to be so great. At least Ace is releasing stuff still.

Hey guys... I just wanted to say that back in the 1980's I used to go to Concerts all the time at the Mid Hudson Civic and it was always SUPER HOT in there... Didn't matter what time of year it was... Sadly I missed the show that was just released as I had went to the Glens Falls NY show on November 16th 12 days earlier and had a previous engagement I couldn't get out of the nite of the Poughkeepsie show... Some ofy friends went and they said it was ridiculously hot in there that nite...

Also with soundboard recordings. How loud a musician is on stage affects the soundboard mix. If a guitar or bass player plays really loud on stage there is no need to have them fully in the PA mix. The sound guy might put them in just a little to spread the sound in the room but not much.

Klassik '78 (Side 1 - Side 2) is the KISS related album I listen to most these past 5 years. "Phantoms" is a real great listening experience as well....

Joey is 100% correct- Time capsule and part of KISStory, and yes Gene's playing stands out. I enjoyed it. I'll even take the tape flip edit of Young and Wasted- Yes, this is what 'WE' want. Ready for more "Off The Soundboards"

Just listened to it in full and I just don't know why people are complaining about this! Apparently we've reached the stage where it's "the thing" to hate everything KISS does now. 🙄

@@mikepratt6481 I enjoyed it too...everyone has to remember things in the proper context- "Shredders" were celebrated and sought out in those days. Also, that these "Off The Soundboards" are not meant to be multi tracks with sweetening live albums. I am thrilled that KISS puts these out and will support the project and its future releases.

@@romelovesdan I have 3 of them so far and I've liked them all! It's funny, when people found out ALIVE! was touched up in studio, they bitched about that. Now we have these soundboard releases and they bitch at how raw they sound! Fans! 🙄😂

I heard this soundboard one time with headphones. It is an ok bootleg ,not better. But Marks soloing is far better than the Vincent shit. Agreed that Bruce Kulick is a better fit but Mark is not bad here. But everybody can hear that Kiss was never a perfect live band when it comes to the playing and singing. And that is why they had to do all the re-recording stuff on the official live albums. Congratulations to Joey Cassata. That is for sure a dream come true.

Wants?......Dressed to Kill show with Room Service and Rock Bottom. Any chance they recorded Dec 1976 New Orleans, Jackson MS, or Memphis(?) shows where they played Hard Luck Woman? Maybe an outside shot to be considered, but I would love to get an upgrade to the Universal City (LA, CA) Creatures Tour show. It was a great one.

Paul was right about Alive and Alive II. they re-recorded because "Nobody wants to hear the same mistakes over and over again" Joey hit it. KISS fans. I just want music, and stuff we've never heard/seen. Hot in the Shade has too many song, why'd they release this rare thing. The Sam Loomis stuff wasn't in 3d video Dolby surround.

Glad I didn't buy this one. Anything 70s I'll grab for nostalgia but post 70s, it's gotta be killer or I'll buy another 70s bootleg. Also, if Ace and Peter were actually playing on Psycho Circus, they would have sold 30x more copies they just won't address their control issues and let people play music from their heart.

Kiss was a bunch of dysfunctional nothings that got famous fast after Alive! hit. I think the problems were Gene and Paul on one side and Ace and Peter on the other. Paul and Gene had vision and the other two had blurry vision. No substance use and heavy substance use. Solo records did not work like all the hangers on told each member they would and that broke the bands back. More drugs and booze for two and more power for the other two. Truth is as I see it. Lost focus. Honestly, the band today if they were OUT of the circus are better musically. Now before you comment understand this! They play better now. BUT, Kiss is and always will be Kiss to me in 1975. The Dressed To Kill Tour they were MONSTEROUS! Paul and Gene are blunt as spoons. Ace is still clearing his head and Peter will always be THE VICTIM! Always been that way. They are better off being done. The End of The Road can not come fast enough for me. They are destroying the fabric that made KISSWORLD aside from Rock and Roll and all other bands. Proud and happy I got my name in Kisstory-(The book) for my time and efforts in the Kiss Organization. God Bless Them All! and God bless all you as supporters and fans. And God Bless the participants of this show.

    • @Mrhasbarafree

His description of the soundboard mix being completely dry was Rubbish..! Paul's mic is loaded with delay all over the place & Gene's has a reverb plate on it.The main reason Sounboard recordings suffer is because the Engineer is constantly adjusting everything in accordance to the levels coming in from the stage.
Also..Checkout Yngwies album 'Relentless' sometime..it's the last descent album He recorded.

Guess what no Ace no Peter no kiss. No podcast rock city no three sides of the coin. No end of the road tour. Paul and Gene maybe minor success in the 70s key word maybe. Paul does not become a famous rock star with millions.
