  • Welcome!
In this video I am trying out my mother-in-law’s pandesal recipe.
    Recipe below:
    Makes ~12 medium pandesal.
    1 tbsp active dry yeast
    3 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup warm water (around 110 degrees F)
    3 cups flour
    1 tsp salt
3/4 cups milk (warmed to about 110 degrees F)
4 tbsp olive oil or melted and cooled butter
1/2 cup bread crumbs (for dredging)
    1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine yeast, sugar and water. Let stand for about 10 minutes.
    2. In a separate bowl, combine salt and flour.
    3. In a separate small bowl, combine milk and oil or butter.
    4. Combine the milk mixture and flour mixture into the yeast mixture.
    5. With the mixer on low speed, mix for about 1 minute to combine.
    6. With the hook attachment, mix the dough at medium to medium high speed for about 10 minutes, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
    7. Remove from the mixer and transfer to a greased bowl. Cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
    8. Put the dough on a large clean surface and form it into a rectangle. Fold the long ends over on each other and form the dough into a 2" cylinder.
    9. Cut the dough into 1 1/2" pieces and immediately dredge them in bread crumbs. Lay them out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    10. Let rise for an additional 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Bake for about 17 minutes, or until golden brown. Enjoy!
