  • Dan headed to Snowdonia to test and review the Riese and Müller Delite 4.
The weather was wild, but that didn't stop them from having a great ride with lots of opportunities to put the amazing Delite 4 through its paces.

Having owned a superdelight they are really not designed for that riding even with the Off-road pack. The belt guard on the large belt ring next to the motor sits well below the frame without adequate protection. This means if you go down a large step you will damage the belt / belt ring or worse the motor. This bike is more designed for muddy paths and off-road rather than Mountains as seen in the video. Plus the weight of the bike will severely limit the range. I know this because I rode mine across the Black Forest in Germany in a multi day tour and came to this conclusion. I still have my bike I love it, but it’s really not designed for the riding seen in this video. Otherwise great video, very informative and covers most of the necessary information. Keep them coming 👍

Every bike has its limits. I have ridden this bike to the top of Snowdon (video is on this channel), across Dartmoor (somewhere on the channel), Exmoor, The Quantocks (with Rufus on his cargo bike) and plenty of road miles. I even tried to get to the top of Cadair Idris a few weeks ago (new video coming soon!). When choosing a bike you need to decide what you are most likely to be doing. If it's all about the mountains maybe the Delite mountain would be a better fit. If it is about cycle touring maybe a Charger4 GT or Supercharger might be better. And if it is the commute then something like a Culture or a Tinker might do the trick. But if you want something that can have a really good go at all of them, then the Delite4 is a cracking solution!

Gr8 video. Does it still have the clip on water bottles?

My question is still here - where do you put water bottles?

Change it when the combined battery goes flat/into the red (at 5-8% approx). The new battery will then take the % charge back up and you can use the full power of the range extender.

Such a pretty bike without that big tumor on it's butt. Is it removable?

There's the option to have the Delite4 with the pannier rack instead which is a minimalist option for fixing panniers weighing up to 5 kg each. The rear and brake lights are integrated into it. You'd be limiting carrying capacity however. The rack in the video is by far the most popular option. It could be removed but you'd lose the rear light.

R&M are the only full suspended bikes that offer a rack that is not connected to the swing triangle. This ensures that all the stuff you carry is protected from vibrations and that the suspension is light, allowing the wheel to better copy the terrain. What you see as a "tumor" is, to the eyes of a trained engineer, finest bike tech.
