    As far as planner trends go (being in this community for 12+ years, I have learned to enjoy the trend, but not to let it dictate my planner. What doesn’t work for me, never will, no matter how hard I try. And that is ok!

      Great way to think about it!

    Unpopular opinion but it sorta scares me that something so personal as what someone chooses to plan their day to day in has become influenced by 'trends'. I mean I don't use kits quite like I used to but the truth is I've never used 100% of any kit because I am a sticker junkie through and through and I like different sizes at different times and on different parts of a page. So I mostly go with a colour scheme, so if for example a kit is blue and teal and my color scheme that week is teal, I will take 3 or 4 stickers from that kit and mix it up with other teal stickers from another unrelated sticker pack.
    I've also heard that 'no one is using rings anymore' and I'm like okay so what does that mean from an actionable standpoint for people that use ring planners, do we have to throw them out?😂I went to a planner meetup last week and some of the girls were saying "nobody really uses washi tape anymore" and in my head I'm like wait, what?
    I just think its so silly that something as 'unique-to-you' as stationery is beholden to trends and if you're not doing what's trendy something's wrong with you. It's starting to scream elitist and its just weird. What about people who plan on a notepad?😅

    • @PlanYourOneLife
      @PlanYourOneLife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've done both, only using what is in a kit to decorate a page or mix it with some other stickers. Lol at "no one uses rings or washi tape." I still use washi tape and probably always will. As for rings, if I feel like using them again, I will. I still watch planning videos where people use ring binders. Just like disc planners, ring planners are more flexible than book bound planners and I'm only using book bound planners, but that is the truth. 😆
      Honestly, I've considered using a notepad or one of those "planner pads" to plan, but I don't work from home, so it wouldn't work for me. But once again, I can understand why some people love to use them.
      Everyone's lifestyle and plans are unique to them.

      There are so many people that have moved into rings this year and last quarter of last year. Tons of folks are using rings and they are all over my IG and YT. I think it depends partly on who you watch most so you see that more with algorithms bc so many are in rings this year.

    • @PlanYourOneLife
      @PlanYourOneLife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @JustScribble Great point! If you search for Hobonichi videos for example, and you watch them for a long time (60-100% of the videos viewing time), the algorithm will send you more of those types of videos because it thinks that you like watching them.

    I did SterlingInk monthly sub for about a year. I loved the washi texture of the kits, and they're so beautiful, but even though I was using them all the time, I ended up drowning in them. I stopped my sub last December. I love TheCoffeeMonsterzCo kits! I feel like they offer more flexibility (can mix and match) for my planning style. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for another great video!

      I agree with you. The Coffee Monsterz Co kits are more relaxed and fun! Thank you for watching! ☺️

    I follow more of the “just vibe and try new things” style of creative journaling and planning. Tombows, washi, and photos/printed memes, etc. are my jam! I feel boxed in by sticker kits, but I think they can really work for people who are BUSY but still want to make their planner feel cute and more custom.

  • @JustScribble
    @JustScribble 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    There’s always lots of ebbs and flows in the planner community. But honestly all this depends on what you watch and who you follow because algorithms use that to show you things.
    There are tons of folks in the community using rings…some always have and some are new this year or in the later half of last year. But there’s been a huge influx especially as some of us have shared slimmer ring setups like Plotter. And there’s still a lot of folks using sticker kits. But some are using them differently or mixing and matching more. Or using for memory planning more than planner pages.
    In my 7 years in the community bookbound has been hugely popular. I’ve seen some key influencers switch from rings and coil to bookbound so people think it’s a trend and folks have shifted. There are more options but I don’t think there’s more folks using them. I think more folks are finding what they need now that there’s more options but they used bound before too. Just unhappy-ish. I truly think it’s all still popular as it was just depends on who you follow most and what they use. If you search enough for something you’ll see more folks using that stuff 😅

      I find to interesting because most people that say they are commonplacing aren’t actually commonplacing. They are using the term but it’s not what they are doing.

    • @PlanYourOneLife
      @PlanYourOneLife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I concur. ☺️ If I start searching for ring planners, and watch those videos over and over again, the algorithm will fill my feed with more of them.
      They are also a lot more options now due to so many small planner shops selling book bound planners, too.

    Stickers add SO much bulk - I like stencils and rubber stamps , and was so excited to see that coffee monsters added a few wooden stamps !!

    • @PlanYourOneLife
      @PlanYourOneLife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They do add bulk, but I still love using them in my planners. There's some stamps that I want try out, do you have any recommendations for ink that dries fast on TRP or the new Sanzen paper?

    • @JustScribble
      @JustScribble 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Honestly depends on what stickers you use and how you use them. I use stickers but don’t get the giant bulk. But I also use a lot of transparent stickers which don’t bulk the same.

    • @PlanYourOneLife
      @PlanYourOneLife  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @JustScribble Transparent (plastic) stickers are usually thinner than paper stickers.

    Great video! I agree about sticker kits. I don't think they are ever going away. They are so functional for people who use them. I think we are just finding more ways of using stickers with the pet tapes and washi that we are experimenting all the time. I've always preferred a book bound planner. Rings are not my jam at all.

  • @LisePlansandJournals

    I heavily used book bound planners back when rings were extremely popular and now they're 'not' and I'm in rings haha

      Interesting you say rings aren’t popular. There’s so many people in rings this year and testing them out this year. It’s probably 50% of what I see on YT and IG.
