Note: with our maps, people, & scenes, we are not making any political statements. Simply stick figure representations. We hope all countries with border disputes, or disputes of any kind, can resolve them as peacefully as possible.

@@octaneblue6 people can be offended if maps don't show their country properly, especially if the country is involved in disputes over land borders...
Not taking any sides here though.
So ur answer is - Yes, it can be insulting to people.
Mind you, the other person is right there.
India has active land disputes going on across both sides.
While I agree it is an educational video & the maps may not been drawn to scale & in context (they are cartoon like in some places, Hand-drawn or paint drawn = my point is, not cartography level)
      But in that case -
The video makers should add a disclaimer saying so....

    1) They have good weather and lots of rivers network so early civilization chose these lands to settle down, for agriculture and fishing all years around. In Europe, u couldn't farm any thing for 1/3 of the years due to weather.
    2) Due to agriculture base economy, they need more manpower hence more children each generation.
    3) Wars. Before weapon of mass destruction invented, these countries had a lot of wars and conflict, thus pushing them to have even more children, just in case the first few die to war or diseases.
    3) They do trading from very early civilization, through contact with people from different regions, they built up immunity to some of early plague and disease , that would normally wipe out European or native Americans

The river systems of China and India really provided them with a boost, especially when combined with Rice. Being able to grow and harvest multiple rice crops every year made it easier to feed more people. Which in turn encouraged people to have more children (So they had help harvesting the rice).
China and India are also some of the oldest civilisations on the planet and have huge swaths of territory.
Being located on the Eurasian continent they also luckily benefited from trade with other states which encouraged growth. Unlike the unfortunate Native Americans the Chinese and Indians had built up immunity to diseases that wiped out most Native Americans. Meaning that when Europeans came they didn't suffer massive population decline.
Awesome video and really informative considering the length.

You see, China and India still has their great rivers thanks to the Himalayas. And the surrounding area are grasslands.
In Middle East, it's a desert and Tigris/Euphrates had history of the waters getting bad.
In Southeast Asia, they also have good rivers fed by Himalayas but it's mostly dense jungle. Jungles are hard to tame, and cutting it down can cause problems, especially for a tropical country.

    Because of Advanced Civilization
The invasion couldn't erase one of the oldest surviving civilization on earth.
We still retain some of the knowledge and have different time keeping systems and everything was in sync with nature.
The Hindu metrics of time (Kaala Vyavahara) can be summarized as below:
    • a Lipta (लिप्ता) is approximately 0.4 seconds
    • a Vighati (विघटि) is 60 Liptas, or approximately 24 seconds
    • a Ghadika (घटि) is 60 Vighatis, or approximately 24 minutes
    • a Muhurta is equal to 2 Ghadikas, or approximately 48 minutes
    • a Nakshatra ahoratram (नक्षत्र अहोरत्रम्) or sidereal day is exactly equal to 30 Muhurtas (Note: A day is considered to begin and end at sunrise, not midnight.)
An alternate system described in the Vishnu Purana Time measurement section of the Vishnu Purana Book I Chapter III is as follows:
    100 Truti = 1 Tatpara
    30 Tatpara = 1 Nimesha
    15 Nimeshas = 1 Kásht́há
    30 Kásht́hás = 1 Kalá
    30 Kalás = 1 Kṣaṇa
    12 Kṣaṇa = 1 Muhúrtta
    30 Muhúrttas = 1 day (24 hours)
    30 days = 1 month
    6 months = 1 Ayana
2 Ayanas = 1 year or one day (day + night) of the gods
Small units of time used in the Vedas
    • a Trasarenu is the combination of 6 celestial atoms.
    • a Truti is the time needed to integrate 3 Trasarenus, or 1/1687.5th of a second.
    • a Vedha is 100 Trutis.
    • a Lava is 3 Vedhas.
    • a Nimesha is 3 Lavas, or a blink.
    • a Kshanas is 3 Nimeshas.
    • a Kashthas is 5 Kshanas, or about 8 seconds.
    • a Laghu is 15 Kashthas, or about 2 minutes.
15 Laghus make one Nadika, which is also called a danda. This equals the time before water overflows in a six-pala-weight [fourteen ounce] pot of copper, in which a hole is bored with a gold probe weighing four masha and measuring four fingers long. The pot is then placed on water for calculation.
    2 Dandas make one Muhurta.
6 or 7 Dandas make one Yamah, or 1/4th of a day or night.
4 Praharas or 4 Yamas are in each day or each night.
    LUNAR METRICS
a tithi (also spelled thithi ) or lunar day is defined as the time it takes for the longitudinal angle between the moon and the sun to increase by 12°. Tithis begin at varying times of day and vary in duration from approximately 19 to approximately 26 hours.
a paksa (also paksha) or lunar fortnight consists of 15 tithis
a masa or lunar month (approximately 29.5 days) is divided into 2 pakshas: the one between new moon and full moon is called gaura (bright) or shukla paksha; the one between full moon and new moon krishna paksha
    a ritu is 2 masa
    an ayanam is 3 rituhs
    a year is 2 Aayanas
    TROPICAL METRICS
    a Yaama (याम) = 1/4th of a day(light) or night [ = 7½ Ghatis (घटि) = 3¾ Muhurtas (मुहूर्त) = 3 Horas (होरा) ]
4 Yaamas 1 half of the day (either day or night)
    8 Yaamas 1 day (day + night)
an Ahoratram is a tropical day (Note: A day is considered to begin and end at sunrise, not midnight.)
Reckoning of time among other entities
Reckoning of time amongst the pitrs( ancestors souls)
1 human day = 1/30 day of the pitrs
30 days of human is 1 month of human = 1 day of the pitrs
12 months of human = 1 year of the pitrs
The lifespan of the pitrs is 100 years of the pitrs (= 3,600 human years)
Reckoning of time amongst the Devas (loosely translates demi Gods/Elemental Gods)
1 human year = 1 day of the Devas.
30 days of the Devas = 1 month of the Devas.
12 months of the Devas = 1 year of the Devas
The lifespan of the Devas is 100 years of the Devas (= 36,000 human years)
The Vishnu Purana Time measurement section of the Vishnu Purana Book I Chapter III explains the above as follows:
2 Ayanas (six month periods, see above) = 1 year or one day (day + night) of the devas
360 days of the devas = 1 year of the devas
12,000 years of the devas = 4 Yugas
    Reckoning of time for Brahma.
12,000 years of the Devas = 1 day of Brahma (4320,000,000 human years). This day is divided into 10, 000 parts called charanas.
The charanas are divided as follows:
    The Four Yugas (4 ages)
4 charanas (1,728,000 solar years) Satya Yuga
3 charanas(1,296,000 solar years) Treta Yuga
2 charanas(864,000 solar years) Dwapar Yuga
1 charanas(432,000 solar years) Kali Yuga
The cycle repeats itself so altogether there are 1000 cycles of yugas in one day of Brahma.
One cycle of the above four yugas is one mahayuga (4.32 billion solar years)
A manvantara consists of 71 mahayugas (306,720,000 solar years). Each Manvantara is ruled by a Manu (the first Man of every cycle after the great flood)
After each manvantara follows one Sandhi Kala of the same duration as a Krita Yuga (1,728,000 = 4 Charana). (It is said that during a Sandhi Kala, the entire earth is submerged in water.)
A kalpa consists of a period of 1,728,000 solar years called Adi Sandhi, followed by 14 manvantaras and Sandhi Kalas.
A day of Brahma (the God of Creation) equals
    (14 times 71 mahayugas) + (15 x 4 Charanas)
    = 994 mahayugas + (60 Charanas)
    = 994 mahayugas + (6 x 10) Charanas
    = 994 mahayugas + 6 mahayugas
    = 1000 mahayugas
as is confirmed by the Gita statement
    "sahasra-yuga paryantam ahar-yad brahmano viduH",
meaning, a day of brahma is of 1000 (maha-)yugas. Thus a day of Brahma, kalpa, is of duration: 4.32 billion solar years. Two kalpas constitute a day and night of Brahma
30 days of Brahma = 1 month of Brahma (259,200,000,000 human years)
12 months of Brahma = 1 year of Brahma (3,110,400,000,000 human years)
25 years of Brahma = 1 kalpa (77,760,000,000,000 human years)
    2 kalpas = 1 parardha (155,520,000,000,000 human years)
2 parardhas = 100 years of Brahma, the lifespan of Brahma (311,040,000,000,000 human years)
The Vishnu Purana Time measurement section of the Vishnu Purana Book I Chapter III explains the above as follows:
360 days of the gods = 1 year of the gods
12,000 years of the gods = 4 Yugas
1,000 sets of 4 Yugas = a day of Brahmá
    50 years of Brahma = 1 Pararddham
    100 years of Brahma = 1 Param
    4,000 + 400 + 400 = 4,800 years = 1 Krita Yuga
    3,000 + 300 + 300 = 3,600 years = 1 Tretá Yuga
    2,000 + 200 + 200 = 2,400 years = 1 Dwápara Yuga
    1,000 + 100 + 100 = 1,200 years = 1 Kali Yuga
Alternately, the reigns of 7 Rishis, Indra and Manu = 1 Manwantara = 71x12,000+A (A is not given) = 852,000 years of the gods+A (A is not given)
    14 Manwantaras = a day of Brahmá
VEDIC TIME UNITS GREATER THAN A KALPA
Ancient vedic cosmology takes into account handful of time spans which are even greater than one Kalpa or a day of Brahma. One such unit is a "Maha-Kalpa" which is composed of 36000 such days of Brahma. One Maha-Kalpa is considered as the lifetime of Brahma. There are time units which are larger than one Maha-Kalpa. The largest of them has been calculated as several quadrillions of human years. This precise and massive calculations indicate one important aspect of vedic time system, that, whenever the term "Infinity" has been mentioned in Vedas, it does not indicate something very large. Instead, it appears that the term is meant to refer its literal synonym itself.

India is like a mini Europe. Here people of different languages are living for thousands of years. If Europeans wouldn't migrate to North and South America, Australia , Africa then combined European population would be billion+ . What is happening to Europe now has happened in India hundreds of years back; the migration. People of different countries e.g, Muslims, the Tibetan people from Tibet, Austroasiatic people from south east Asia etc. And the massive death due to any disease or natural calamity was very rear like the bubonic plague in Europe. So death rate was very less than the birth rate in the past. After the development in medical science in modern history the population growth rate again increased. So basically Indians didn't gone through massive death in past as the Native Americans died due to diseases which caused huge decrease in their population.

The real answer is actually the Himalayan mountains they're the tallest mountain range on earth winch means every spring as temperatures rise in the northern hemisphere the greatest amount of snow melt occurs here on earth. The major rivers of china and india. All originate as the snowmelt of the Himalayan winch contributes to the fertile plains and abundance of freshwater winch has enabled the populations to flourish. The Amazon River in south America has a similar origin from snow melt in the Andes mountains and most major rivers worldwide have similar origins like the Congo and nile rivers in central africa. The Himalayas are single handedly the reason for the large populations. Same for Pakistan and Bangladesh.

For everyone complaining about the map, that's just how it is for most people internationally. No matter how obvious it seems, on an international level, it is still considered to be a disputed territory, and this is the case for most countries with disputed territories. So most maps, for example Google maps, show whatever is acceptable to the people in the country.
So in India, all of J&K is part of india, but in Pakistan it is shown differently. And for most of the other countries it J&K is not included in any country... so when people from other countries search for maps of India the most common one that they will see is the one without J&K... not because that's what they believe is true, but because that's the UN accepted standard.
The same is true for any other country with territorial disputes. No matter how obvious it seems, unless it is recognized officially at an international level, it will be considered as a disputed territory.

    • @davel7037

@@davel7037 Thats understandable, but I don't think its necessarily wrong. That's how most maps internationally show the distribution of J&K, so it's not someone's fault to represent it this way. Especially when the disputed territories aren't relevant to the video. For instance, its necessary to explain the disputed territories in a geography now video because that's a relevant topic. If someone wants to make a video about one aspect of any country, that doesn't require significant research about that specific country, they wouldn't even come across any information about such disputes.

12 Months Of Funko Ok long story short, why environment has a “carrying capacity”. This is the maximum amount of popularity on a place can hold. The earth is reaching its carrying capacity, meaning that the population will stop growing. This kind of growth is seen in the developed countries such as the European countries as well as America with developing countries approaching this. Due to a high amount of population, many people are in specialised labour meaning that they do not grow their own food and cannot support themselves. By disrupting the supply chains and farmers, much more than 50% will die. Countries approaching the carrying capacity will be reset and thus will have more fertility rate. In a matter of less than 50 years, the populous will be back at the state is now making thanos’ snap not only ineffective but counter productive as more lives will be lost during this period and developing countries( as all will be during that time) produce more pollution and use resources less effectively
      Hope this explains it all!

    उत्तरं यत्समुद्रस्य हिमाद्रेश्चैव दक्षिणम् ।
    वर्षं तद् भारतं नाम भारती यत्र संततिः ।।

Rice: it has an incredibly high yield for a given land area, with relatively fast growth (up to 3 harvests per year in India); however, it's also extremely labor intensive. This means a small plot of land can feed a relatively large number of people, and a large number of people is needed to maximize its yield.

You didn't mention the fact that their cultures and family dynamics make it conducive to raising a lot of children. In Asian cultures, the grandparents play a vital role in raising and rearing grandchildren. This helps the parents to work without distractions or complications. Secondly, extended family and the need for them is also why having lots of children doesn't become a burden on the parents. In other words, relatives have a vested interest in making sure that couples have babies. An aunt and uncle are like parents to children who aren't biologically theirs.

You guys missed the biggest reason of them all (literally)...the Himalayas! The amount of water running through the Ganges river basin to the South and the Sichuan Basin with continuance via Yangtze to the East (and their many tributaries that make their way to their respective coastal discharge deltas) is reason one. Add in the explosion of rice about 12,000 years ago (maybe earlier) and the need for flood control leading to an irrigation system that needed constant maintenance as well as defending...and you have the recipe for a major population center throughout modern human history. The fact that the Yangtze and Yellow share a fertile coastal plain (Yellow to North, Yantze to South) gives China a boost and the fact that the Pearl River Delta is ensconced in China's borders is the icing on the cake for them.

It's simple because of family pressure after marriage
    Indians could relate
    Basically it's goes like
    1. U come to the world
    2. Few years of unconditional love
    3. School starts and also pressure to get good grades
    4. Enters high school peer pressure for entrance exam and 10th and 12th
    5. Gets into one of the govt. College u will get pressure for career
    6. Now u have a degree and a good source of earning
    Pressure to get married
    7. U got married
Pressure to have a first child once it came
The elders would ask for siblings
*Basic reason why india has too much population*
It's the basic life of most of the Indian
Note: many came and many gone but no one could defeat the elders taunt

Very Informative Video... Congrats University of Minnesota... Some other reasons you can ponder on are : India was a preferred trade destination back then so many people of foreign origins used to come and settle here... Native Indians assimilated all of them amongst themselves without any hesitation or resistance. Indian population has genomes from all of central asia, middle east, east asia. Europeans decided to leave otherwise they would have been assimilated as well. You should note that Europeans came as traders too. They traded here peacefully until they started developing some other ambitions i.e. to rule the native population which proved to be both good and bad for India.

Mr Feast ! If there were kings like Purushottam (Porus) & a 'mentor' by name 'Chanakya' India wouldn't have been subjugated by the British. But it is too much to expect a Chanakya in every alternate generation to save India (why should it be, when India doesn't want to be!).
Even the British say that they were "reluctant" Imperialists when their tradesmen were distracted too much from trading by royal (court) machinations, internecine wars & politics of India then. The half a thousand native princes, kings & potentates of some standing- were too busy fighting their similar faced rivals to notice these pale-faces from ten thousand km away. But when they koined the fray, it was imm aterial who they were. What matters is the strength of each side in
number of men - whatever natinality they might belong to (witness WW II)- in the heat of the battle. India didn't notice that these were out to undermine the country (Aryavarta they called ). In fact it wasn't civilisational threat as they perceived. It took a century to sink in their minds that it was a pan-India (national) threat. By then the civilisational cleavage & gap widened and became unbridgeable to win a war to drive them out. In fact (many Indians may not admit it though) some of them were prospering, had an opportunity to look at new vistas, new life styles & exposure to the wider world, that a narrow, cocooned Indian political life didn't enable them- like MK Gandhi did later. A "typical" Indian alone can fit the role of 'Noble' (erudite) savage of Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World'. In the bargain the English (British), had no alternative but to step into the vacated shoes of Mughal Empire. It is how all other Indians accepted them - as yet another extension of an Empire after the Mughals (even who came from Central Asia, outside Aryavarta).
What happened in China is in stark contrast. But for a brief Imperial interlude in fact (like Abyssinia/Ethiopia being under a brief Italian rule, that shouldn't qualify it the tag, 'Colony'), under the brutal Japanese (where wanton brutality was adapted as a tenet to Rule, tiring out even some perpetrators), who was an immediate neighbour sharing genetics, language & culture, China never had a foreign rule like India had. What Japan was to China, Britain was "not" to India. So it is incorrect to compare their Imperial/colonial experiences (or rather experience versus no experience, that is the truth). Many from PRC here(or their Party, CPC) in these columns even taunt India for being under foreign, European, British rule to "boast" that China never had foreign, European Imperial rule. At least all here, must accept this 'self-perception' of a nation, instead of we handing out a judgement.
It is like putting an elephant & python in the same zoo enclosure as "animals" sharing common animal-hood(of subjugation by foreign rule).

Actually, I just watched a fascinating documentary that explains how the creation of Himalayas millions of years ago caused the monsoons. The runoff feeds huge rivers with lots of water and nutrients that supply fully 45% of the global population. That's a far better answer than the tripe these guys came up with.
Additionally, Europe is just as densely populated as Asia, so if it was larger, it would have just as massive of a population. America was a very recent discovery that's still growing, while North Africa has had devastating climate change that turned what was a fertile "breadbasket of the world" into the Sahara desert.

    • @Blaisem

You guys have to understand that the better the living conditions/standards the less likely a family is going to have many kids since there's no need for them (usually wanted more children to help work for the family). Both India and China have a lot of people because they had bad living conditions, this can be seen going on currently in Africa as well. But that was the past, now, I'm not sure about India, but China is actually having less and less babies, partly because of the two child policy, but it's also because they simple choose not to. It's because the living standards in China is gradually improving overtime.
