He was answering questions in the parliament on the occasion of the first anniversary of 7 October attacks.

I think the UK depends upon the US for support for things like the Russia/Ukraine situation. I also just feel there is some kind of connection that the UK feels with the US. Medical Aid for Palestinians, a UK-based relief group, is calling on the international community to take “meaningful action to enforce a ceasefire, uphold international law, and protect Palestinians from potential genocide”.
The group noted that Israeli forces have killed more than 41,000 people in Gaza, crippled the enclave’s healthcare system and strangled access to electricity, food, water, medicine and fuel.
“We have run out of words to describe the horrors our teams are witnessing and experiencing in Gaza,” said Fikr Shalltoot, MAP’s Gaza Director.
“Frequent mass killings of civilians, the use of starvation as a weapon of war, and the systematic destruction of healthcare are an existential threat to people. Gaza is being erased in front of our eyes.”
Starmer is clinging to his ridiculous claim of self defence for Israel,and the statement that he has to continue supplying weapons as just a defensive measure , beggars belief. There appears a sense of desperation in the Starmer government, as more and more criticism emerges of his actions, and the continued support for Israel seems more like a self defence arrangement, in the light of avoiding accusations of war crime complicity, and what could be impending legal procedure from the ICJ. Starmer and co put up an arrogant air of untouchability, knowing governmental war crimes rarely ever get punished in the west, so it is likely that the present situation will continue, at least until Starmer is voted out and becomes a more certain 'person of interest' for justice. I wouldn't be surprised if Starmer is banking on the fact that Blair never faced any repercussions over Iraq, so will follow Scot free. That it seems is the sick face of modern politics.

After WW2, many German citizens denied having any knowledge about the mass killings carried out by the Nazis. In some cases this may have been correct but for the vast majority, they knew perfectly well what was happening. Today, nobody can say that they did not know about the systematic slaughter taking place in Gaza. After WW2 many of the criminals responsible received justice at the end of a noose for their involvement in the killings. I have been flying to Tel Aviv for years for work and I never knew that the Sheraton hotel, which is kosher in Tel Aviv had a safe room on every floor. When crews checked in for layover, we were discreetly told to make sure that every person knew were the safe room was, that was in late August 2023. We never knew abt the rooms there. So why after flying into this country for over 15 years did they tell us to make sure we know where the safe rooms are?

The problem seems to be that there is no viable alternative that can really change the dynamic of two-party (fake or otherwise) politics. Even an alternative will unlikely get support, because the biased and manipulated media influence is so strong and the general public seems to be ignorant, or uninformed, of what the real consequences are of voting these people into power. It's a system designed, so not fake, to maintain the power, wealth and control in the hands of a few families, large corporations and excessively wealthy individuals. The platitudes of broken promise after broken promise are lapped up by an ever more divided public. Divide and rule has been a successful strategy for ruling large populations for centuries.
