My Pietta Colt Avenging Angel in .44 caliber. A belly gun. These would have been private purchase, personal defense handguns. #firearm #gun #capandball #revolver #colt #snubnose #shortpistol #pietta #44
I disagree and here is why. Of course, this is a fantasy gun. The frame is the foundation of the gun, and it is 1860 Army. Cut down, and the cylinder is enlarged for the .44 load. The octagonal barrel is a 51 Navy Hallmark, but no 51 Navy came in .44 caliber.
yeah that's the 51 navy "yank snubnose".the avenging angel is based on the colt army.neither are historically accurate as presented by pietta.although idc about that.i have one and then from Taylors got the fluted cylinder and army style round 3 inch barrel.and viola, both the army and navy on one frame.watch out for ball creep on this one.piettas got that problem on several of the colts iv got by them.
That is true, I believe. My review was to show the attributes of the pistol, so I probably should have explained it wouldn’t have been made that way by Colt. It would have started as a full size 1860 Army, then cut down like that and the bird’s head grip added. Some belly gun folks kept the full size grips. These were popular post Civil war. A Mormon militia group called the Danites used to carry them.
Faster? This is cap and ball, not a cartridge conversion. The projectile must be rammed down on powder, and this pistol doesn’t have a loading lever. I watch TH-cam, never seen any other way to load cap and ball.
love the look of the birdshead grip on the open tops
Great video, thank you.
Thank you. I’m looking forward to watching some of your videos.
Beautiful gun
Thank you!
That's based off of a '51 navy because of the octagon barrel.
Totally agree, plus the army grips bigger then the navy grip

Looks interesting but to my knowledge no Colt prior to the 1873 came from the factory with a Birds Head grip.

Plenty of heft for pistol-whipping.
That’s true- my first impression was this thing is heavy for its size LOL.
If you watch youtube, you know there are other ways to load faster

I've got one for home defense.
