I'm Bradford born and raised and this is the most honest account of the city I've ever seen, BBC interviewed me and loads of other people on the street a few years ago but just edited everything to fit their narrative, haven't trusted them since. But this is just Bradford in a nutshell, Excellently done

I would, rather live my life in Bradford, than live where I live, in a stuck up town down south, where nobody ever talks to you. All alon , going round the bend with loneliness and isolation. Give me Bradford anyday. I would like to emigrate straight away. These southerners are stuck up. And, I am a southerner, myself

Things I don't like: The in-your-face soul crushing poverty visible on almost every street. The pound shops. The pawn shops. The fly-tipping. The littering. The nitrous oxide cannisters. The nightly fireworks going off. Small dicked guys revving their sports cars and doing doughnuts at 1am. The reckless driving. The nightlife is nothing like it used to be. The boarded up buildings. The derelict buildings. The shut-down pubs. The bulldozed pubs. Shitty ugly new building developments, especially in the city centre. The actually really average restaurants and lack of food diversity.
Bradford is a city that has been ravaged by terminal economic decline, incompetent and corrupt councils making bad choices and wasting money for *decades*, maybe even the whole of the last century. It's poor, it's shit (like our football team).
The people who claim it's a nice place are delusional. The attitude that "things are fine" when they're not is partly what's stopping Bradford ever actually improving. It's a dump and it needs fixing for everyone's sanity and well-being.

I agree. Left the country years ago but I'm from Barnsley and my mum worked in Bradford. Lots of nice people but Barnsley too, has been left to rot. There's loads of them round Centenary during the day, often throwing up on themselves, sometimes even into the tinnie they're drinking from before carrying on necking it. You see stuff like that every day and start losing sympathy tbh. There's so many stains all over the paths from drunks who can't be bothered to take care of themselves. And when they're not loitering and day drinking in public places, often around children, they're begging for money to go buy drugs or more drink. There are more dealers in VW Golfs with no licence or insurance than there are rats, and there's a lot of rats. Big problem with toothless prostitutes too, often pimped by the same dealers. People pass out on street corners because they're off their faces and everyone just tries to avoid them, there are homeless people sleeping in almost every doorway, usually in someone else's sick or urine. Bradford is a hole. I'm sure there are plenty of other holes out there too, but Bradford is definitely one of them.

Big up the massive up in Bradford, but London is Englands most dangerous & crime ridden city. Policing in London is very tight so allot of the crime happens underground & doesn't get reported or noted. Westminster, Camden & Islington are inner city crime jungles. I grew up around all of them and the amount of stuff I have seen is ridiculous.

Lovely place Bradford, I moved up from London for a job in Hull and didn't like Hull at all everyone was depressed and unnecessarily rude and aggressive so I took a weekend trip out to Bradford and spent the weekend eating great food from all over the world and when I went back to London after leaving Hull I actually considered moving to Bradford full time when I got a fully online job but eventually I just moved to a beach town in Brazil because of the low cost of living and spending pounds in Brazil let's you live like a king compared to Bradford or London lol but if I ever do move back to England I'll probably rent myself a little flat in Bradford

There's a huge wealth divide too, homestead estate in Ilkley where I live is one of the most affluent parts of Bradford, where the average house price is around 920k, mainly filled with athletes or rich white men and their families, with next to 0 crime, contrasting to central Bradford where it's the most multicultural place in the world, but unfortunately has a lot of crime and substance abuse. Although it's a beautiful city with a rich history, Bradford definitely has it's many downsides.

it's one of Britains crime hotpots mate, and there's no denying it.
Ive lived here most of my life, and there's things about it thst love dearly, but there's no getting away from the fact its one of the uks most expensive cities to insure your car, and one year recently, manningham, girlingron and west bowling were 3 of the top 5 most expensive post codes in the entire nation to Insure a car.
it's also one of the most burgled cities in Britain, one of the most violent, with one of the highest percentage of drug addicts and alcoholics in Britain.

Anyone that goes to Bradford will feel that belonging vibe. Brummies won’t even offer a Hi, hello let alone offer guests tea. Brummies will take guest to restaurant and expect the guest to pay.
